I was banned for a week by the Soul, I proved that I did nothing wrong and so a Master Mod reduced it to 1 day and I lost my status. I had only had it from Jan the 1st until I think it was about Jan the 25th. Life is a ... yeah you know.

Кланяються мені!

The same day extreme lost his heroic status I was promoted to Legendary member. Strange coincidence.....almost makes your theory seem absolutely correct Tom.

That's right. My plumage is brighter than yours.

It's kind of crap how you can have a legendary status or something, be banned for having a post in what was considered a spam thread, and then lose your right to spit on the peasants.

But I guess it's okay. I don't really care too much as it is.

Lose your RIGHT to SPIT on PEASANTS? WTF?

You have NO RIGHT as a LEGENDARY member to SPIT on anyone. They AREN'T RANKS!!

Any LEGENDARY MEMBER or anyone else using their title shall be LOSING it within a very short amount of time.

IF I SEE THIS GARBAGE I will PM A MOD immediately and make sure that persons trust plummets through the FLOOR.

We are all MEMBERS no matter our titles!!

ELITISM isn't the way to go.

Also while I'm already pissed, I'll inform you that while were not supposed to pay attention to titles, a LEGENDARY MEMBER SHOULDN'T BE CONTRIBUTING TO SPAM!

^^^^^^

What he said. I don't contribute to spam. Nor do I run around trying to play forum cop, telling off members with pointless threads like "quit making recon", or "I <3 Bungie" threads.

PS. I really do <3 bungie. Just I wouln't spam the forum with something they already know.

Codeword is ... "codeword". Doh!
Also, now, Alliance FTW!

So I have another data point for the data pool. I just made Heroic Member, I think sometime this weekend. I joined on 12/31/07 and I have 18 pages of posts. No warnings, no bans, although I often end up posting in somewhat controversial threads that end up getting locked as I flee the exploding building :-) A fair amount of submitting reports - more than 30, less than 100, better than that I can't estimate. And I went on a little bit of a Report Rampage last week because, well, I just felt like Michael Douglas in Falling Down. Based on the theories here, my point total reached the dynamic threshold between Normal and Heroic and here I am.

So it's not just an accumulation based on time, in my case it has to be related to quantity of posts, quality of posts, quality of reports (I imagine something where there's some check to see if your report leads to a lock or a ban to measure quality, or even a demerity button that mods can click when they disagree with a report to punish abuse), and/or possibly some intangible like mods with a (what's the opposite of a demerit?) button.

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

as long as the system is fully automated as we have been told, i cannot think of any reason to think that post quality is a factor. the folks at bungie are not likely to have programs capable of making qualitative assessments of given posts. heck, i cannot imagine who could. this would be the case in any area, and it would be even harder to create such a program for forum posts given the rapidly changing topics, terms, and meanings of existing terms.

none of us can know for sure how the formula works as we do not have many details about it, but anyone who is interested in getting various member titles should strongly consider making posts with regularity and to avoid breaking forum rules. i wish everyone good luck, especially concerning avoiding mod punishment. even if you think that the forum rules are exhaustive or clearly defined, you may be surprised by how punishment is (or isn't) meted out.

Magnums, please.

I guess I should get my posts up -as a member from 05 - I do think longevity should count for something -perhaps not much - but certainly something

I have not the time nor quite the interest for membership titles in the forums --but in the game I will beat you down, stick you, shoot you, make you my -blam!- and move on to the next

In fact I agree, it would be hard (and prone to abuse) to have a system where mods could provide feedback about individual users. The only qualitative thing that I could see them programming in pretty easily would be a check to see if your Reports were valid, based on bans/locks that happen in threads that you previously reported. Wouldn't require any human intervention.

Ah ha! I'm a legendary now! I only gained my Heroic two or three months ago. And I thought that was because my warning deduction was done. Maybe they wear off slowly. Either that or Achronos decided to give me a bump up :)
