Posting does help yes, but it's about ACTIVITY!! An ACTIVE ACCOUNT will receive a title faster than an unactive one. This means creating threads posting, participating in groups, logging in a lot, linking XBL account, using File Share, etc.

I run two groups of my own and I am active in several almost everyday. I don't think activity in private groups contributes to forum rank.

Yes, it does. There is a member that only posts in groups and he's a Noble Heroic Member. I'll look him up later.

Yeah, and I think its also been theorized that its required to be active in a minimum of some number groups to go beyond a certain rank.
So I'd say private groups help a lot.

In August I lost my "Honorable" title due to a temporary ban. Joined a spam group and didn't know it, sucked.

Is it possible to get that role back sooner than 1 year?
Post in the public forums like hell. I don't think private groups does anything to your forum rank (I would know, I am very active in a few groups + average 20 you know whats a day [don't want more people asking about what it is]).

Post in the public forums like hell, you're right, prvate groups does nothing to your forum rank (I would know).

Once again, yes it does. Groups does effect your Title, just look back on Duardo's post on activity. Groups is included, as well as a lot of other non-forum things.

To get the "Honorable" title, you need approximately 1 year without a ban, not exactly. For example, I got "Honorable Heroic Member" after a couple of months from a ban, 3 or 4, I think.

I got mine 11 hours after a ban. Duardo doesn't know everything he just posts logical theories with no verifacation from the Bungie team.

Groups do play a role. That's for sure. I lost my Heroic due to a warning, but got it back in about a week. Be really active, and I'm sure you could get it back in a month, maybe even less.

I'm not doubting Duardo, I'm sure through his compilaton and observation of other people's encounters with the title system he has quite a bit of knowledge I.E. this thread. I'm just implying that only the Bungie Web team actually knows how it all works and the OP of this thread cannot be taken as the bible. The only reason I am sayng this is because I have a bit of proof saying that some well thought theories are actually false. I have dumped my proof into this thread before and I guess I can dig it up agan if you so desire. And I don't think you should scrutinize me by how long that I've been here for the rank/title system was only put in place a little before I arrived to this fine site.

There have been a few I think. If you are really active and that is the first ban you have had in forever, you will probably keep your title... maybe. I wouldn't know though.

I just downloaded Firefox last night and I'm impressed. Waaaaay better than IE. The only problem I have with firefox is the text. It makes my computer look well old.

Yeah, pretty much after the most recent hawtness it's been like this. You'll get used to it, though.

Hmm, I just lost my Heroic status for like no reason after getting it like a week ago.
I could have sworn I have been posting more, is there any other reason it could disappear?

Excessive posting isn't good from what we can tell.

Also, I really do think having a GT linked with multiple Halo games helps. I wasn't anything above Honorable until I started playing Halo 3 online more, and Heroic steps in my front door.

Tonight, I can finally link my account to my original 3 star general account. Think I might go up in trust?

Well, yes, but I think the more important thing to read out of Duardo's post is the variety of activities. Posting in the forums is just one thing. Posting a lot can help, but after a certain point, it doesn't seem to help that much. Five times a day is better than once, Ten is better than five, but one hundred fifty isn't that much better than ten. You follow? Posting consistantly over a long period of time helps way more than a whole lot in one day, or two, or a week. I don't know, that's just what it seems like to me.

Hmm. That's interesting. However, your account is reaching 2 years, so that probably has a lot to do with it. However, I would not be surprised if you don't get Noble on your two year anniversary. Either way, I don't think posting has anything to do with Honorable. I've seen several accounts with 0 forum posts ever, with Honorable, which they gained at exactly 1 year.

Being a Master Forum Ninja doesn't grant him inside knowledge on the title system. He has the same information as the rest of us. He may be horribly wrong on everything, though I doubt it. I would not throw away someone's idea just because it goes against what is in the OP. Everything in this thread is just a theory.

A regular Member ^_^
Being banned gives you a massive negative Trust, so you will always drop to Member. Once the ban in removed, you'll probably end up significantly lower in title, though mostly when you see a Mythic banned, they come back as Heroic/Legendary depending on the severity of the ban etc.

Posted by: z ZUMA z

Or super spammy. You cannot post your way to a title. Achronos would not design a system like that, of that I am sure.

I doubt the account's rank will make a difference, if that's what you're asking. I believe it was hinted that in game activity could have an effect on your trust, though I might be imagining it. That may just mean that bans dealt out ingame will have a negative effect on your trust, which makes sense. I think it unlikely that being higher rank, or playing lots of games would have a positive effect. I think just having an account linked is as much positive trust as you can expect to get out of it.

Posted by: JBSpudster
That's along the lines of how I was thinking of how it could function. Just to paraphrase what you said so that I can understand it better; An individual's trust value marks where they are in relation to other members, while the percentage boundaries determine what base title the individual will have. X percent of the highest trust value holders will have the Mythic base title, and when one of those members loses a significant amount of trust, the Legendary member with the highest trust value would be bumped to the Mythic percentage tier. Does that sound about right?
Yeah, that sounds about right.

As for Elz and his number filled theory thingy, I like to think of all this like a math problem; knowing what "x" is equal to doesn't really matter. Knowing what your trust is, or what trust is required for the titles isn't really important.

I am active everyday. I think time on b.net is the biggest contributing factor. Activity in private groups are the least contributing factor.

My ban was originally a permanent ban but was reduced to a one month temporary ban because I appealed. It might be a whole year before I return to Honorable status. :(

Well Carnage you certainly need to post in the public forums more, you're only averaging 1 a day. A 1 month ban gives you so many negative trust points that you will have to start posting like crazy to burn that in one years time.

Subject: FAQ on Bungie.net Member Titles

Hey, nothin special here :P

Hey quick question...I read the Original Post of the thread, and I understood the whole 'innocent for x amount of time', but as I recall, old requirements for a membership upgrade required little to no bans at all. What if, say, I had 5 plus bans. Does this automatically purge all chances of me ever receiving an upgrade more than honorable / noble? As in, would it be possible to move up to Heroic after a pretty bad ban history? Would it depend on what the bans were for?

Thanks ahead of time.

The prefixes would come a year, 2 years... from the last ban, I believe.
