Not only does it seem that the new year had something to do with it, it seems like the rules have changed a bit. It used to seem like there was a limit to how many people could have a certain title, but now I'm not so sure.
I always thought titles were used on a percentage scale. If it was instead used on a number scale maybe it's just been tweaked slightly.
Since I've been tracking the Mythic Members the total number of Mythics has been pretty stable. Right now I'm sitting at 188, but I'm absolutely sure that there are Mythics that stick to groups that I've never seen.

The stable number leads me to believe that there is a set number of Mythic Members. Here is my online database last updated yesterday.
Cool database. You you're saying that when one person looses their Mythix, another person gains it? My best guess is that this stable number will be 200. Nice even number.
But according to what Gnome's saying. It may have been manually tweaked, probably to adjust to a milestone of members.

It seems a lot of people who will have a B.Net anniversary in March are getting some upgraded titles.
We rank up in waves?!?

OMG R U SRS?!?

I didn't know that.

Yes, I understand that from what little we know is that there IS a formula(s) but we haven't discovered a pattern or trend yet. IIRC this time last year there wasn't such a sudden influx of prefix promtoions as there is currently.
Last year around this time, the prefixes were settling in. Changes usually didn't occur for months.

I'd doubt it. My titles go loopy every so often, I'll be this one day, and another thing thing the next...

You must be fighting someone else for a title whose trust points are pretty close to yours. That's how I was a few weeks ago, my title has stabled out now though.

It takes a real person to restrain themselves.

Jeremiah has an interesting title, avius custos.

How did he get it and are there more like him?

Inactivity, I would assume. KP has it as well. My guess is that it's the ninja equivalent of "Absent Member." Mehbeh?

Avius custos is a custom title on Bungie.net given out to ex-contractors for their duties at Bungie Studios and the forums.

That makes more sense. I knew Jeremiah was a former contractor, but I was wasn't aware KP was as well.

That's nice of Bungie. Just why does everything have to be in Latin... I wish my school offered that (yes, I want to take Latin, lol).

You know, if they offered custom titles, I'd like mine to be "Memento Mori". Still, due to Bnet employees, shouldn't they have theirs in latin? Like "Omni Aurem": Meaning "All Gold."
Anyways, maybe Bungie might offer more custom titles, depending on the situation at hand.

Interesting reading in the last two pages. I was already looking forward to February, now I'm very interested to see what happens in a few weeks.

I disagree.
January 1st, 2010, many members (Including myself) were promoted to Heroic Member.

I'm not sure how Prefixes work, but I'm willing to bet that Titles are in waves.

December 13th, 2009. I tripped while jogging. Later, I was promoted to Heroic member.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but if I was a betting man, I'd bet that I wouldn't be willing to bet on anything pertaining to the title system.

It should also be noted that the negative effect of a ban seems to wear off the first of the month. So that might have had something to do with it.

That is if you don't have that many bans on your record. I know people who have been banned multiple times (not necessarily successively) and have yet regain any member title.

I just realized I lost my heroic member -.-

I read something about un-linking and re-linking gamertags could have something to do with it, correct? Well, I changed my gamertag name. Would that have anything to do with it?

Your highest possible prefix would've been honored and your title is doubted if you you're not nearly active enough. One ban doesn't screw people over. Not even multiple. It's lack of participation.

I doubt it, your game history still isn't showing for Halo 3. Achronos said linking your gamertag does have to do with titles though, so maybe it may be the reason.

I think the only time you can't get a title is if you are currently permanently banned. Given enough time, the bans will wear off, and he'll regain a title of some sort. Note that when I said the first of the month, I didn't mean the first of the month right after the ban. Bans can take months to go away. I'd guess 3+, but I'm sure it depends on the severity of the ban.

"Veteran Member" looks very unique though.

For me, I'm just waiting to see if I rank down because I'm obv not going up. :( I did see some guy that was "Member" and his account was like 6 years old. How?
