One of them has made two posts. I don't think we can come to any conclusions just yet.

Hopefully, they start to post alot more, and more often.

EDIT: lol. I lost my heroic member status in my post before this one in this thread...

Agreed. It's simply too soon to tell.

However, many have though that it might have something to do with Bungie's next game.

I like that idea (sort of reminds me of 'Portal.')

Theory:

I tihnk they will "clean up the forums" for a couple months, then start an all out war with the ninja's, or just go rampant (seems to be a part of every Bungie game).

Too soon to tell though.

Ivy League pinky toe!

EDIT: nvm, my title is gone. The system is fixed. Please ignore unless you are curious about my ramblings
I just thought of a possibility that may somehow factor into member titles. When I somehow received a promotion to heroic member, it made me wonder why there are members here who have posted more, have been here longer, have (*assumption*) not been banned, have yet to achieve a new member title.

So anyway, here is my theory. My thinking is that though your actual number of posts don't have an impact on status, the number of characters you use does. I have written some fairly lengthy posts and that seems like a plausible explanation if both being here longer and post count do not matter.

Any thoughts or opinions on this. Sorry if the idea has been posted before, I have not read all the replies to this thread.

I'm starting to think that the whole system has gone bonkers. I consider myself fairly new in comparison to many of the older members but some days ago I spotted a mythic member who was only one day younger than me.

Now, a couple of days later I'm randomely losing my Legendary status. I'm aware of that every member is set in relation to the entire user-base and if someone is gaining a level in this point-system or whatever the heck it is another might lose one. That seems reasonable and explains why many members are randomely losing their titles. I do not see how I can be affected by this though. I'm signed in every freaking day seven days a week and I'm usually posting when I'm signed in. Most of my posts are the lenght of the one here too so it's not just that I'm posting one-liners.

I dont care much about the titles but I find it a bit annoying when there are no logic reasons behind the changes. We might as well hook up the title system to some weather station and let that determine the titles in the spirit of true chaos theory.

Edit: Ok what the hell???? Now I just spotted a legendary member from mid 2006 who had only posted 400 times.......and I'm losing my title?

This is a good point. I was actually a heroic member a few days ago, and then lo and behold I was demoted. I don't know why, but apparently that's the way it's gonna be. The important point here is that member titles really mean nothing other than a representation of tenure, and anyone can find that out by clicking on your name and looking at your duration on Bungie.net.

Remember, trust is calculated daily, and the maximum value possible changes every day too. Since the titles are based on the percentage your trust value is compared to the maximum value, it can easily change if the max value goes up further than you go up in the intervening time, even if you haven't had any negative items against you.

In other words, no the system isn't buggy, stop asking why your title changed, I'm not going to tell you.

The important point here is that member titles really mean nothing other than a representation of tenure, and anyone can find that out by clicking on your name and looking at your duration on Bungie.net.

Not true. It used to be, but not any more. I know several people who've been members longer than me. They aren't active, so they're all standard members, without titles.

Edit: Oh, I'm a legendary member again. Harrumph. Down with the title system... :P

However if they are inactive, then you really won't have the opportunity to view their duration on Bungie.net will you?

HATERS GONNA' HATE

Wait, how long does it normally take to become a Heroic member? It says from a year to a year and a half, but I've been here since February, 2008. Has the system changed?

Yeah, I know someone who has a Heroic Member Status after 3 months. I am not complaining though, if I really wanted a high member status I would stop making new accounts.

Exactly, that only means that the titles are pointless. I mean why are they there? They serve no purpose since they cant be used for anything. I've been here for 3,25 years and as far as I know I was up to my old titles again after my last blacklist. So how the hell can I have the same title as someone who has been here 3 months?

They might have changed the effect of violations but in that case should the ones who has already served their time be affected again? The members might actually have behaved and aimed for titles if they told us how it worked. As of now no one knows since it's all random which results in that no one gives a crap and we're back to where we started.

I see you

I think its possible a criteria must be met, but the theories dont add up.

What if, everything had its own set criteria.
2000 members
500 heroic
200 legendary
100 mythic.

How out of those 2000 members, all have the possibility of going up, but the system will pick the top ten, so those members who logged in today have more of a chance just by logging in than the ones that don't.

1000 log in out of 2000. now calculate people who have spent the most time online in a day. 300 out of 1000 have been on longer than 2 hours. now there is 300.

On the same rank, non active members may also go down or up. 100 heroic become members while 100 members become heroic, but 50 heroic also become legendary and 25 legendary become heroic so 25 members can become heroic if even un active based on cirteria and calculation.

thats how i think it works

Hmm, I WAS a Legendary member for awhile and now I am "Member"? I haven't been posting on Bungie.net as much anymore, would that effect it?

  • 06.02.2008 8:00 AM PDT

I see you

What I mean is

2000 members
500 hereoic.

If the most active member is doing better than the worst heroic member, they will trade places.

100 legendary, they rank from 1 to 100. number 1 has done alot to keep his place.
50 mythic Rank 1 to 50. the 50th is idle and doing nothing.

so the 1st best legendary is doing better than the 50th worst mythic.
they will trade places.

I seriously laughed out loud at that. Wow.

I still don't know what happened, and better yet I'm afraid to ask someone who might know because of the constant threat of getting a warning or ban. Which we all know won't help you in the long run with your member titles.
