There are many powers in the world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. Against some I have not yet been measured. But my time is coming.

A: Having posted in a thread that gets locked reduces trust.

Point A you have there is up for interpretation. Unfortunately I have found myself involved in a number of threads that get locked because of lunacy, etc. and I still haven't lost my prefix.
The thing to keep in mind is that the trust system is about rewarding good behavior. A locked thread isn't necessarily bad. And, when it is, it certainly isn't always because of everyone who participated in the thread.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

Rich, it's almost as if you know exactly how the title system works.

Personally I'm playing with the thought that bans and membership lenghts might have some form of inverted correlation. So as a fairly new member you might be more affected by a ban than someone who has been here for 3 or so years....but that's just a theory I have. It could also be as simply as that a newer member hasnt been able to accumulate enough trust points yet to be able to "neutralize" an infraction as fast as older members, this could explain how I was able to instantly go back to Mythic on my main account when my latest ban expired.

You might be on to something here.

My only ban came very early in my B.net career (two months)and it seems like it took several months to reach Heroic and even then it went back and forth quite a bit.

After the prefixes were introduced I lost my Heroic again but this time it was for about three months, when I finally gained it back it stayed steady until I got my Legendary which has never fluctuated at all other than the prefix.

I'm thinking you're correct. When Reiginko was banned a while back all he had to do was sign in and he was instantly a Mythic member.

Yeah that sounds about right.
I was thinking about the same thing a while back.

"Could you have so many trust points that you wouldn't drop in title even if banned?"
Of course, it wasn't that formal, but you get the idea.

And it seems that would be the case.
Cool.

I wouldn't be too sure about that.

Take Burrito for example.
He went down to Legendary after a ban, and is now Heroic.

Just sayin'.

It's sad isn't it :(
I was Heroic on the 16th, then it was snatched right out of my hands on the 21st... I only had it for 5 days and now it's GONE!

I don't think I did anything bad... Did I post in a thread that was locked? Was I a little less active?
I wish I knew for sure.

Sometimes it's not a factor on your behalf, but rather on another user who share a similar amount of trust points.

  • 01.24.2010 12:59 AM PDT

Its important to remember that there's a set number of people at each upper level. Meaning, there is a specific number of Heroic members, specific number of Legendary members, and a specific number of Mythic members. So when someone gets promoted to heroic, someone also got either demoted from heroic to regular, or perhaps they got promoted to Legendary. So its not always solely dependent on what you do as it is what others in your 'member group' do as well. You may not have done anything bad to get moved back down to regular, necessarily. A lot of times, if you're riding just on the edge between two groups, you may see yourself switch between two groups several times before finally settling down into one.

Well, yeah, it doesn't apply to all Mythic members, just like maybe the few with the most trust points right now.

PPPPPP--POWER!

I've been jumping around between Heroic and Legendary too.

One of the theories I've been testing is the correlation between time on the site and maintaining a member title. Since I have started testing this theory, with at least mild involvement (3-5 PPD), I have yet to revert back to Heroic member. But then again I'm only a few days in.

It almost been a year and I still haven't got a Honorable Title.

I'm thinking it's because of my bans, anyone care to explain?

1. Honorable - No bans/warnings in about 1 year. If banned/warned, you may or may not keep the title, depending on length/number of bans.
Taken straight from the OP.

Well, considering the Honorable prefix is ban related that would certainly explain why you haven't achieved it yet.

Could someone explain why a few other people and I are hopping ranks so often? I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm pretty active and for the past two weeks or so I've been switched from Honorable Heroic Member to Honorable Member about 3-4 times. Pretty frustrating because it makes me feel like I did something wrong.

Has to do with post count, and amount of times logged in.

I've known this, but my post and log in count wouldn't simply decrease. I don't think there really is an "iron fist" system that once you hit a certain amount of posts you are promoted to the next rank. I think they give it to you based off how dedicated you are.

What I notice is that your account isn't that old. A year and a month right now. I'd say keep doing what you've been doing, and the Heroic will start staying on longer in about 2-5 months.

  • 01.25.2010 4:34 AM PDT

Again, you have to remember that its not always dependent upon what you do, but what the other people in other title groups do as well. There's a set number of heroics, legendaries, and mythics. so it youre teetering between regular and heroic, it could just as easily be due to some other heroic members slipping in activity and getting demoted or upping activity and getting promoted to legendary as it could be based on your actions. There's more factors than just what you do.

Look at PsychoTEX's post. There are a lmited number of members of each title. The trust rating total that correlates with title changes all the time. You will bounce up and down between titles because you are right on the border, and the people around you leapfrog over you. After a while, this will stop.

What about the Legendary member who got replaced? Will he/she go into Mythic status? If so, what will become of the replaced Mythic member? Will he/she go to legendary, or Heroic? Or regular status?
