Subject: FAQ on Bungie.net Member Titles / Prefixes / Bar Colors

I don't think that posts in groups count. The point of member titles is to encourage civility and reward people for following the rules when they post. In private groups, there is not a site-wide system that can tell if you are abiding by the rules when you post in chapters. One could spam constantly, but the title system would reward them for it.

Think about it. If you made a private chapter that contained just yourself and two other people, and spammed the hell out of those forums, do you really deserve a higher title?

I don't think group posts count towards prefixes like fabled, but I definately think being a member of groups counts toward the base titles. If for no other reason than it means a person may spend more time logged in to bnet.

Edit: I think this effect on base titles is more coincidental as opposed to causal. People involved in groups probably tend to spend more time here and check in more regularly.

Absolutely not. That would make the system absolutely stupid and maybe even impossible. Look at it this was, that's the minimum amount of time it takes to get the titles. Once you reach that threshold, there's a requirement of an amount of trust points to become the new title. If you were banned along the way, it's more than likely that this will take more time than if you hadn't, but it doesn't reset everything.

I agree that the system probably does not completely reset if someone is banned. Perhaps the system is guided by rules (no bans within a certain time limit) and also a point based system based on the frequency of posting.

Does anybody know how long a warning delays your promotion to a higher bar?

When enlightenment is the question. The Answer is Pain.
When Ignorance is the problem. The Answer is Blood.
When love is absent. Hatred fills the void.

Not sure, but as it is a warning, it can't have much of an effect.

Okay then. So far all I have that goes against me is one warning and I'm hoping to get a Heroic Title Bar before the release of Halo:Reach. Also, I have heard that once you hit the one year mark your title will change a lot more than before the one year mark, any truth to this?

There are many powers in the world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. Against some I have not yet been measured. But my time is coming.

How about a bunch of bans given around the same time? Will they wear off around the same time or what?

Well yeah I guess so, (reflecting on my own experiences)but would a warning be like a ban in that its length could be dependent on its severity? (maybe not but worth the ask)

Getting your Heroic may still take you some time, but it will happen eventually. As for your title changing a lot, I cannot be certain whilst your title could be subject to others overtaking you and moving you down the ladder it shouldn't change too frequently. You may pick up a prefix but not much beyond that.

I think it is closer to 2, since I was a Heroic Member, then got a ban, and about 2 months later or so I was bumped to Heroic, then shortly after Legendary.

Is it a coincidence that I got my "Heroic" member status the same day that I started a campaign on Heroic?

I've had it since Friday.

That sounds like coincidence to me.

Even though we know that game participation factors into one's title to some extent, I would be willing to bet that the two events are unrelated and that it's just coincidence. Just for the lulz though, you should try playing on Legendary next time. =P

Wow, I should be Mythic by now.

No you shouldn't.

Everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough.

You're making the fatal assumption that a high post count has an effect on titles. We don't know that.

Tru7h. C4RN4GE. Bungie.

It took six months for me to rank up to Legendary.

I was an Honorable Member, got a one month temporary ban, and jumped from Member to Legendary recently. I have been active almost every day since my ban, mostly in private groups.

The system truly has a mind of its own lol, but I figured I would post this because it might help someone else with a similar situation.

Mythic here I come!

  • 02.07.2010 11:15 PM PDT

There has been a huge increase in Legendary members lately, but not a huge increase in Mythic or Heroic......why's this?

  • 02.07.2010 11:34 PM PDT

When enlightenment is the question. The Answer is Pain.
When Ignorance is the problem. The Answer is Blood.
When love is absent. Hatred fills the void.

I know, Ive noticed this also, its been bugging me that all these new Legendary members have been popping up.

I think though that maybe be due (in part) to people recovering from bans returning to normal, people who have just gained the title and (maybe) were pushed up a bit by new members?

But I think we will be seeing a small increase in Mythic members sometime before this passes out of memory.

A lot of 2008 people are getting Legendary now.

I also maintain that Chrome is weaksauce, and IE9 is fast and works very well

I'm from the third day of '08! I wasn't active for a while, but I've only had a few warnings and no bans. Maybe if all of the Heroics move up to Legendary, that will free up spaces for me, along with others, to move up to Heroic. Unless the old Legendaries are moving down to Heroic as well...

I know, I joined in Late 07, I first got my Legendary in Late 09

So if some members who joined in 08 are getting their Legendary titles now, what does this mean?

I think that these people would have joined in early 08, that makes sense to me...now Im sure we should be seeing a few more mythic members at a time similar to this one.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

hmm has anybody ever seen a mythic member that doesn't have their gamertag linked?

  • 02.08.2010 6:05 AM PDT

hi

Hey guys I'm really curious, has anyone gotten exalted with a rather recent warning/ban?

Because I was able to rank up to intrepid mythic member relatively fast compared to what the OP says, as were some other people. I'm just wondering if it's possible to get exalted soon when I got a warning a couple of days ago for something really minor.
