One theory states that having a linked GT could play a role in the title system but do we have any theories related to played games on a linked GT? I'm seemingly stuck as heroic on my alt so I'm considering playing a few Halo 3 matches on the GT I have linked to it just to see if it does anything for my title.

Thoughts?

When I changed my Gamertag, I went down from Legendary to Heroic. It was still linked, but the stats weren't displaying. When I played a game of Halo 3, the stats reappeared, and my title went back up a few days later.
That's interesting. It could be away that the system kind of monitors whether or not you linked an actually GT of sorts, instead of maybe a silver account you never play on. Kind of a test maybe to see if that really is your true GT?

1. Read the first post in the thread.

2. Attempt to spell correctly.

The only official statement that we have on that aspect of the title system is this:

The trust rating already includes elements of game participation...
Which means that we can't be sure how complex and in-depth the game-participation aspect of the title/trust system is. It could be as simple as just linking a gamertag to an account, or it could be as complex as recording how frequent an account with a linked gamertag plays a Bungie game and then applying a trust value accordingly, we can't be sure either way.

My guess is that linking a gamertag is a very significant trust influencer and that game tracking, if there even is game tracking, is not a significant trust influencer. I say this because many people have stated in the past that their title elevated/descended the very instant a gamertag was linked/unlinked to their account respectively, while few people, if any at all, seem to mention a link between playing more Halo and title changes.

In regards to your alternate account; I have a pretty good feeling that the reason why it is stuck at Heroic despite being an older account is not due to the game-participation aspect, but rather a different aspect of the title system.

So you can lose titles like Heroics from bans and warnings to?

Yes you can. You might consider perusing the thread a little farther back to really find out why, but when you violate forum rules, you lose trust, which directly affects your member title.

Thanks for the help

You can, but it recovers quickly, unlike Honorable, Heroic, etc.

Heroic, Legendary, Mythic are based off of activity, not ban history.

Intrepid and Exalted are based off of how many posts you have. Either it's that or based off of post quality.

It's Intrepid and Fabled, but yeah, I do agree that bans should make your posting be seen as "less reliable" and damage your hunt for a post-count related prefix.

I've been becoming less and less active on B.net for the last week. My title has been swtiching from Legendary to Heroic at least a few times a day now.

I think my Trust Rating is about the same as someone else's here.

It is now...A TRUST WAR!

I still can't believe this thread has been allowed to go on for so long. Way back years ago, this would've been shut down and dead.

How so? This thread was made by a moderator, and is monitored by them constantly. Besides the occasional off-topic "what is my PPD" posts, there has been a ton of advances in theories and estimates on the system.

I'm more surprised that so many people actually give a -blam!- about the system.

I have to agree. While I think this thread does serve as a great place to link people to that ask the question "wut do the ranks mean?", all the constant theorizing about how one "increases" their "rank" is counter-productive (in my opinion).

Duardo's first post about what the titles are should technically be enough, and then the way to "increase" the "rank" could be simply described by saying, "Be active on the forums and follow the rules."

If Achronos and the webteam really wanted us to completely understand the "trust system", he would have created this thread and spelled everything out for us.

PS: I still think there could be something above "Exalted Mythic". ;-)

Looking through your recent posts, you haven't posted in the main forums at all in those five days. It's agreed that posting in private group forums has no effect on your title. If you stay active, it'll be back in no time.

(Also, I've been thinking. "Fabled Legendary Member" - aren't fables and legends the same thing? Hmm.)

Edited because I like the little [Edited] message down there.

So if you're a Heroic member and you get a 7 day ban which reverts you back to "Member" status, how long does it usually take to get back up there? A Year?
It takes less than a year to get Heroic off the bat. 7 day ban would probably have a total effect of a month.

Total BS. I have been here for 4 yrs now. Its more than that. There is some crazy mathematical magic that they designed for it.

PS: I still think there could be something above "Exalted Mythic". ;-)

That's actually quite possible. We have no definite understanding of how the trust system functions. Therefore, anything in this thread's OP is purely based on our own observations. If no one has obtained a certain title, we have no way to know it exists, barring a massive leak by Achronos.

I noticed (as I'm sure most of you did, too) that prefixes are based on "sets". Veteran, Senior, and Elder titles seem to be based entirely on member activity. "Noble" seems to be an anomaly, so Honorable and Exalted would be its own set. Intrepid and Fabled would be the last set.

I think there could be a title that requires no bans/warnings for 5-6 years. You Exalted Members would have to chime in, as I don't know if anyone has made it more than 5 years without bans/warnings.

There could also be another title related to post count, though.

Either way, any undiscovered prefixes (except for those possibly above Exalted) would have to be almost obsolete, meaning that members will achieve a higher prefix before earning that one. Kind of similar to the Elder prefix, as that one is nearly dead.

I've never heard that the "Noble" prefix is an anomaly. I thought it was 2 years with no bans. I got my noble the day my account turned 2 years old. Care to elaborate?

I've never been banned or warned, so there ya go. But I was also a fairly infrequent visitor for 2-3 years, so that might "hamper" me a bit.

Of course, due to my "special" circumstance, Achronos might have given me a +10,000 trust points (very random and very not correct guess) automatically for all I know.

NO NO NO NO NO!

Read, please.

I said "might have" and "for all I know", not "did" and "for a fact".
