GOAT

Well, i got a 3day, went down to Heroic, now member. Oddly, I'd rather be a member than "heroic".

I don't care how the system works. Member titles shouldn't mean anything anyways.

If anyone could clarify something for me, it would be greatly appriciated. I've been a member since 03-03-09, and have 12 pages of posts. On 02-12-10, I made a grave mistake and fed a troll and received a deserved warning of which I am not complaining about. My question is How much will this adversly affect me in obtaining my first title?, and besides adhereance to the forum rules, what else can I do to redeem my stupidity?
You'll probably have to wait longer for a title, but we'll see if warnings affect the prefix on 3-3-10.

Subject: FAQ on Bungie.net Member Titles

If you think Reach is bad... chances are, you're bad at it.

I wish bungie would just tell people how to get rank ups. I have been a member for 11 months and i am still a regular member.

If you read the first post you would figure it out, but I guess you don't want to or something.

You need to be "active", which you obviously aren't. Besides today's posts, your last post was on the 13th, a 7 day difference, then again on the 10th, another 2 day difference. That's not "active".

Bungie will never tell us the exact measurements. The very detailed OP you neglected to read is the best we've got.

If you read it, you'll notice that you should earn the "Honorable" prefix around your account's one-year anniversary, regardless of activity.

Chief vs the scarab? I find that hard to believe to roundhouse boot the scarab's figurative emotion out of the gaming zone.

lol
I'm not really active at all. I've only made a couple dozen posts in the mains so far this year and most of those I'm sure were in January, and I just noticed that I've been bumped back up to Heroic. I post a bunch in groups though, so maybe I'm just helping the whole group argument out here.

These aren't ranks, they're member titles.

Group participation is definitely a factor. Though for Prefixes, it's likely that activity in the Mains has more sway. An example being that I got Legendary while just posting in groups, though I didn't get any prefix until I started posting in the mains. And since my title was "Reset" by a ban, it might be interesting to see if this is the case this time around.

Exalted Heroic Member who has never posted in the mains. Groups posts do count, but probably not as much.

Your situation perplexes me. Your post history says you have only made 8 posts in the public forums since you joined 4 years ago, and you're only in one private group. The only thing that seems to explain your current title is the fact that your first post was a very long time ago.

Our current definition for Heroic is "Active member for 6-12 months". That might have to be reconsidered, as in your case, longevity seems to play a big role.

Sorry if I'm just answering your question with another question, but how active are you in your group?

No, it just means come here frequently and commit to the community, basically.

Please, for the love of God, never quote the OP again. :)

I was wondering this same thing the other day. My buddy Temples as been a member since 2005 and if his main forum posts were deleted somehow, he's never posted in the main forums. He's not very active in our private group forum either.

There must be a "time since first post" factor somewhere. Something that counts both private and public forums.

Sorry, I can't hear them over the sounds of Modern Warfare 3 on my Turtle Beaches.

Is it possible to get the Honorable status if you got only one warning or no?

Also, how does one get downgraded? I've seen someone that was Legendary that dropped to Heroic then regular in a six-month span.

  • 02.22.2010 3:32 PM PDT

When enlightenment is the question. The Answer is Pain.
When Ignorance is the problem. The Answer is Blood.
When love is absent. Hatred fills the void.

Well yes, you can, I received a warning a few days after I first joined Bungie a year later, Honorable.

There are several ways (we think) that a person can get demoted. One, a warning or ban could result in this. Two, a member could overtake that person (in trust points or w/e) and force that member down a title.

Downgrades happen through bans, warnings, and significant drops in activity.

Oh well, I cant seem to stay heroic, but i'm nobility now at least.

I had always thought that "Forum Ninjas" had worked for Bungie, never knew that a regular member such as myself could become one. Thanks for the info.!

  • 02.23.2010 3:23 PM PDT

And ... Boom goes the Dynamite.

Turned Noble just after two years. Just like clockwork. It seems that theory is nearly confirmed to be true.
