Quick Question: Is Intrepid and Fabled related to your post per day average or your total posts?

I have a feeling that total post count carries a greater weight. I would imagine that, after an active user receives a ban, he might create an alt and post a significant amount in just a couple days. I don't think those people would be Intrepid or Fabled based just off a couple days.

So, it's either the latter, or some combination of both (or something totally different, we don't really know).

I believe its your average posts per day over a set amount of time.

Honorable Member FTW.

I think I'm the equivalent of rank locked on here. Honorable honorable honorable. I swear, if I work my way back up to Mythic, I'm going to be honorable.

For Intrepid/Fabled status, I think it's more just a consistent PPD, but a higher than higher than average PPD count. Every Fabled/Intrepid I see, I check their PPD now, and they all vary, so I don't think it's related to post count, but more consistency. Still, I'm looking around.

How do you check to see how many post PPD you have?

Uh I'm a bit of a noob, what's an "Achronos"?

Nintenman7: Apply yourself... Seggi31: HHHHNNNNNNGGGGG

Hmm... What if ranks included member time or achievements on the site. Idk really about the achievement part but as for member time, having something on the right side of the bar that says something like "member since" or "great community member for more than x years" or whatever I guess. Just to think about...

As for the achievement thing, perhaps have a rank that says something like great group administrator or whatnot. Or highly helpful troubleshooter. Things that somewhat specifically describe members who stand out above the rest. Like the custom titles given to Bungie staff, something for the members, too.

edit:

Also, not sure if this was stated in the OP, I didn't read it too thoroughly, but how much input between the computer system and the actual moderators ranking people?

Like how much input to the mods have and how much does the computer? I was recently heroic I think (can hardly remember, I'm fairly inactive on the public forums), posted a somewhat stupid/offtopic question, and was ranked down (not complaining). Anyway, I take it that was a mod who did that, not the computer. I had also received a warning for a map collaboration thread :/. So I assume it was between the computer and the mods for that. Just curious about how the system works.

There's a "Average PPD Calculator" Greasemonkey script in the Script Central thread.

That's definitely at least part of the equation.

Yeah, it'd be nice if it would show it though, like other than on the profile page. It'd also be nice if the icon changed with age. When I saw mine (I've been a member for almost 2 years now), I thought it was because I had been a member for so long. I then looked at an account that was just a few days old that had the same icon.

Edited my post btw

What do you think accounts for the random drop in title level if no bans have been recieved?

The best answer is probably your level of inactivity. Some members can have long successful activity for a few years which will bring up rank but can then have long droughts of inactivity. They aren't contributing as much as they used to and it's detected resulting in a loss of rank.

Hmm. This ranking system seems kinda like the trueskill system :P

But It's kinda confusing. Because I was a rank up with a colorful bar for a few days and then it was gone, then it was back again, then it was gone.

Not sure if it was due to mods or the system.

The maker of the system should give an in-depth explanation of how people are ranked up and down.

I've only given you a theory based off of logical assumptions gathered from the OP and posts throughout this thread.

Go back to the OP and towards the bottom of the post, there are a whole lot of theories as to why you may have gone up and down without bans and such. They basically talk about "trust points" and sitting on the borderline between two roles. I'd say if you've been bouncing back and forth quite recently, just keep active and posting lots and you'll probably move over the hump. You most likely have to mantain a level of consistency with your presence in the forums. Daily log ins and posts are also believed to factor into your "trust points".

You gain and lose points depending on your level of consistency which is why if you are sitting right on the border, you may lose points for inactivity and you fall below the line but then you jump in activity receiving points which in turn push you back over the line.

(Again this is all a theory. I am in no way 100% sure about anything I've said. It's all based off of logical assumptions and knowledge from previous posts.)

Haha I just read all of those just before your post.

Mr. Snowball's seems interesting, from it I'd say it can be simply put as

points for days since joined + points for active days + (points for total PPD average x current PPG average) + points for total posts + points for the other things that et you points - points for warning - points for stupid thread
_____________________________________________________________ ________________

points for 3 day ban, 7 day ban, etc.

I'd say that's a bit more accurate, at least how I'd set up a trust system. But being banned once, and being on since march of 2008, I'm still a Member, so I'm not sure how accurate that is. I'm more active in private groups than on the forums though, so I shouldn't be an example of the system.

Let's hope some day the ranking system is finally explained simply.

Although it'd be nice to know exactly how it works, I can't see it happening. We only know a very general knowledge so it's not influencing the way we act on the forums. If we knew exactly how to pull the right strings to get the ranks we wanted, I'd see the system exploited. Not knowing results in a more true expression of who each and every member is on the forums.

I think it affects your Trust when you post in a variety of Forums, not just sticking to one, because you're letting Bungie know that you can navigate their site, which only sounds right to raise your Trust.
Not sure if grammar would have anything to do with it.

No way to check for grammar. Different countries spell things differently.

UK, US spell a few words differently.

I wouldn't doubt it. FULL Forum participation would seem like it would help, insteading of camping it out in one forum. I don't post much anymore, mostly here, The Flood, and The Reach forum, but I lurk alot in others. Who knows.

It might have something to do with participation in other forums, because I jumped up to Legendary recently, after I started posting in the Flood.

I wonder how much periods of inactivity hurt the post count.

Just wondering, I've been a member here for about a year now, yet no title whatsoever.

Anyone has a hypothesis on this matter?
