Probably forgot about Noble because it's not seen as much as other Prefixes, or because you have not earned it yet. I can see it being misleading at times. Although Fabled and Exalted confuse me, because I have a very high Post Count, yet I still haven't earned either of them, I don't remember reading they take a certain length of Membership, just a High Post Count, activity, etc.
I'm starting to think in order to even achieve Fabled/Exalted/Intrepid status, you must be a Member for at least 2 Years, because with how active I am, I'm surprised I'm still 'Honorable'. It does make sense though, making us first achieve 'Noble' in order to achieve other Prefixes, sense Noble is the last of the "Commonly seen length Prefixes".
Now that I think about it, I have seen multiple Members with 'Fabled' that have been Members for under 2 Years. The Trust System is very mysterious, and it almost scares me half the time, because for something that makes no sense, how can it works so precisely? My theory is that you just have to reach goals in different categories in order to earn a new Status, such as if you get a high enough Post Count before you reach a certain length of your Membership.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This Theory of mine is a fun way to think of the Title system as a Video Game, but is actually how I think of it, and will actually make some amount of sense as you read through it. Thinking of it this way will help you understand more easily than if I said "Title System". Be sure to contact me with any questions!
I basically think of the Title System as 3 Exp Bars:
-Trust
-Post Count
-Membership Length
They will increase rapidly, but whichever one levels up first, that's the Title you will earn.
There really is no point saying this, but I always imagine the Trust Meter as a 'Gold Exp Bar', Post Count as Blue, and Membership as Green. Not sure why, just a mental image.
Also, they go into different Tiers, such as Post Count 1, Post Count 2, etc. As these Tiers get higher, you unlock different Prefixes and Titles. Such as 'Trust 2' would earn you a 'Heroic' Title, and 'Trust 3' would you a 'Legendary' Title. Or Post Count 1 would earn you the 'Intrepid' Prefix, and Post Count 2 would earn you the 'Fabled' Prefix. But In order to rank up in each Tier, you must first accumulate a certain amount of Trust/Posts/Membership, like such examples:
-Heroic requires: Trust 2, Post count 'X', and Membership 1 (Could be either default, or 6-ish months)
-Legendary requires: Trust 3, Post count 'X', and Membership 2 (1-ish year).
-Mythic requires: Trust 3, Post count 'X', and Membership 3 (3-ish years)
Basically saying, to go up to the next Tier, you must first reach a certain level in each category. Think of them as skills, like from an RPG game. You level up in each skill by contributing to it, and to earn new Titles requires a certain amount of Exp in all of those.
My theory on how 'Trust' works:
I believe you earn Trust for everything you do on this Website, even browsing Forums and not posting I think earns you a little Trust, or going to areas of the site that not many people care to enter, or even know about. But I'm sure you get a little bit of credit for everything you do.
-Rapid Title fluctuating:
A lot of members wonder why their Title keeps fluctuating so often (Like rapidly going from Legendary to Heroic at least once a day or so), the answer is quite easy to understand: You're on the verge on going to the next Tier, your Exp bar is full, so when you go to the Next Tier your Exp bar is empty for that current one, which means since your Trust eventually decreases over time if you don't start earning more Trust, it will stay at 0 of that current Tier, and when the Trust decreases it will take you back to the previous Tier.
Example:
-So you're on Trust 2 (Heroic Member), and you're just about to rank up, so your exp is like this:
[------------------------ ]
You're close and you eventually rank up to Trust 3 (Legendary Member), now your Exp bar looks like this:
[______________]
It's empty because you just leveled up, so if you don't earn my Trust, you will lose Exp, causing you to go back down to Heroic.
-Character Count:
A lot of people wonder if Character Count in Posts effects your Trust, although it may make you look wiser, It's still a hard decision. I sorta believe it does matter, because there's a lot of members here who barely post with Mythic Status, but when they do it usually consumes of a lot of Characters. Some of them I've seen barely post since before they were even Legendary.
What makes me strongly believe this, is that I wasn't a Heroic Member for a long time, maybe about 2 Months at the most. The funny part about this, after I earned my Title, I became unactive for over half that time (About 2-3 Weeks), even though I was inactive, when I returned to Bungie.net I still retained my Title. In those few Weeks after I got back, I made multiple Threads and Posts that used a few Thousand Characters, two of them were two Posts long, which is over 10,000 Characters. Not only that, but for about 4 Days, my Post Per Day was in-between 50-70, which is A LOT, and (I honestly wasn't boosting, it was shortly before the release of the Reach Beta and I was glued to the Reach Forum). I had gone from completely in-active, to full blown CRAZY! I had got my Legendary Status on one of those 4 Days, not sure which one.
Seeing as it happened like that, I strongly believe that more Characters in a Post effects it.
-Activity and Post Per Day:
My above example of what happened to me is a great example of why I think Post Per Day and being active strongly effect your Title. Don't spam, but if you can accumulate a Post Per Day of 50 or higher, you might happen to get your next Title pretty fast, but I'm sure it's not the only thing that factors into it, I may have just been lucky.
I wish there was more to talk about on this Subject, but activity is pretty self-explanatory. Just don't spam, post maturely.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Groups:
I do believe browsing Groups can gain you Trust, as well with Posting in them, it lets Bungie know that you know how to join Groups, let alone post in them, that would no doubt earn you Trust. Anything you do on the site, that lets Bungie know that you know your way around, I would think earns you Trust, although this is just my Theory.
I stand by this theory, because I myself, earned my Legendary status by posting in a Group, so you couldn't convince me otherwise.
I also think that by being active in multiple Groups at once, benefits you, it shows activity, and dedication to the Community, Bungie likes seeing people do that kinda stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if the Trust system reacted to it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skipping Titles:
Possible that if your Membership is high enough, and your Post count is high enough it could substitute as a certain amount of trust, causing you to skip from Member, to Legendary. This is common for longer term Members. Since getting banned or warned wouldn't reduct your exp in Post count, or Membership, this would make sense.
How would Bans/Warnings effect your Title:
I do know that Warnings can leave a big impact, and I believe Warnings will decrease your Trust by either 1/3, or 2/3 of that Tier (They may possibly do more). So if you are on 'Trust 2' (Being a Heroic Member), and you get a Warning, you'll lose somewhere around 1/3 or 2/3 of that Tier, sorta like losing Exp in a Video Game, which some games do when you die. This would mean if you are an early earner of the Heroic Member, you would no doubt lose your Heroic status, but if you've made it past the halfway marker for that Tier, then you would most likely keep the Title, though you would be on the verge of losing it.
Bans on the other hand, will do much more than 1/3 or 2/3 of your Tier, from what I've seen, I would estimate they do around 1/1 or more (1 whole) of that Tier, instantly lowering you down to the previous Tier (Basically going from Legendary to Heroic). But you have to keep in mind, there are multiple Tiers of Bans as well, and I believe the worse the ban, the more damage it will do to your status.
It seems that sometimes it can variate, meaning that bans don't always seems to effect people the same way every time. In-fact, it would be almost impossible to determine with this current theory for the simple explanation as to how a Member's Trust meter could possibly have no limit. So lets say Mythic requires 5,000 Trust, and you have earned 10,000 Trust, if you get a 90 day ban, who knows, you might not even lose your Title for the fact that that ban might not take away 5,000+ Trust.
I do have a very uncertain estimation though:
-3 day: Between being reset, and 1/1 of your current Tier.
-7 day: Between being reset, and 2/2 of your current Tier.
-14 day: Between being reset, and 2/2 of your current Tier.
-30 day: Between being reset, and 2/2 of your current Tier.
-60 day: Between being reset, and 3/3 of your current Tier.
-90 day: Between being reset, and 4/4 of your current Tier.
-Perma Ban: DUH!
These are all estimations, so for all I know, all Bans could effect your Title the same way, but it makes more sense for higher bans to effect you worse.
If I think of anything more, I'll add it.
