Yeah, you gotta 'gasoline board' them first.

I don't think one should take people's theory on how much trust is affected by bans and for how long too seriously - there is really no way of knowing for sure.

Yax is a shining beacon in these dark times. You should all strive to be more like Yax.

Yeah, I don't see how that's even possible.

Does anyone even read these?

What does the text stuff have to do with it?

and the text Formatting Legend is below the reply box, legend as in key, not quest =D

I received Recon on 7/7/09 for achieving one of the secret metrics. I believe it was for playing in the very first game though.

But for anyone with Recon you should check out the group We Are Reconnaissance. W.A.R. is a haven for people with the Recon permutation.

Looks like I will never be ranking up.

Banned too often =(

I was Heroic once and I was confused so I posted something about it and it got taken away =(

I think I was trying to copy something and accidentally pasted it into my post.

It is from the "Text Formatting Legend" by the way.

You will earn a higher title after some time. May even take months.

People have this negative attitude for no reason it seems. It's fine, keep continuing to contribute for the purpose of contributing and your actions will reflect on your title.

Obviously you are not meeting the requirements for Heroic member. Nothing to worry about, if and when you accumulate enough trust you will rank up.

In other news, i went up in the world for the first time in two yearsish.

In a related story; From Member to Legendary in 6ish days.

Probably means you were lingering over the Heroic and Legendary titles forever, then in those 6 days finally got the requirements to go up.

I'm not complaining.

Next step is a fabled, honorable, etc prefix

I hope that happens to me, I was a member forever, then became active again after two months, heroic in two days. Maybe that's some juice for a theory on how it works, who knows

The system measures trust points and gives the appropriate title accordingly. It is the combination of automated and human-run systems.

The equation for titles is extremely complex and is far more intricate than the one below, but should look similar with positive and negative values^.

^ = positive and negative relative to Trust points

Titles are based on 'Trust'. 'Trust' is calculated by a concolade of specific values, but can be generalized to 5 basic ones.

Trust = ((# of posts)(value of trust/post) + (# of replies)(value of trust/reply) + (Time as member of Bnet)(Value of Trust per unit of time) + (# of Groups a member of)(Value of Trust per group) + ...etc)) / ((abs(# of times banned)(1-(Time after ban/# of bans)) + 1)int

f(Trust) = {((p)(a) + (r)(b) + (t*)(c) + (g)(d) + ...etc)) / ((b)(abs((1-(T/b)) + 1)int**}

example: {(10)(12) + (87)(5) + (12***)(0.5) + (50)(10) + [GT link] 80 / [2 abs(1 - (3/1)) + 1] int}

Trust = ~380

*unit of time unknown [months perhaps, would make the most sense. Players may gain heroic in a few months after joining, but I haven't heard or seen anyone say they had acquired heroic in only a few weeks {voiding glitches of the system}]

**integer rounds the complete function into the next lower integer

***measured in months

any other theories would be appreciated so PM me or message me on XBL GT: Lucius Plancus

Also include Linking your gamertag as a '+' to trust and unlinking as a '-'.

Times Reported would be a neg. value too. Though it may be indirect; the reports send up a red flag if enough are on one person/post/reply and the result could range form a warning too a locking/deleting of the post/reply too a degree of a ban.

Group chat also appears to have positive effect on TP. I'd imagine each reply in group forums would be worth about the same as the site forums.

Post/reply quality is tricky. I'd assume each post/reply is measured in length and helpfulness/commitment to the Bnet community. Here's a quote by xFoman123x:

You're right - an automated system cannot make value judgements about the content of posts... but it can use information about an account to determine a different thing: trust. It is entirely possible for the system to make an educated guess as to how "trusted" you are. By this, I mean it can look at the sum of your history here and decide "hey, this guy is a troublemaker" or "hey this guy gets warned every once in a while, but is otherwise okay" or "this guy is squeaky clean".
If a system like this was to be created, would all blacklistings show up or just recent ones?

My guess is "all," but you have to remember that this would only be visible to Achronos and presumably moderators (since they can see users' histories anyway).

Generally being a productive member to/of the 7th Column will get you higher titles, but higher titles don't mean squat; other than a possible higher respect (with the exception of forum ninja's)

If anyone tries to abuse the system the Flaming Ninja's WILL get you.

I will try to create a function graph for this equation someday. PM me if you would like to help or attempt to help.

concolade = my own word for multitude

A7 I'm not trying to crack your code so don't sweat.

Actually, apparently post quality metrics are recorded. We just don't know to what extent.

I guess post quality can be measured but it would take a lot longer (the web team would need to read them and rate them).
