Or the fact that you created it to just post gibberish to get a higher title, =(. Against the rules man. Besides If you read back a few pages to one of my quotes Achronos says that post quality matter. Prolly meaning if it is just gibberish than it will be not counted by the web program.

I tried that once back in the day to see if posting in groups really did do anything. I created a group and set up a script that would have me automatically post gibberish. I think I had maybe 500 posts when I stopped. Nothing happened. So there is probably some sort of criteria to stop people from doing that, for instance the group might need a certain number of members, it might require every post you make to be unique, or maybe there need to be unique posts from different users in between your posts or something.

Carpe Diem - Carpe Coffee

Astronomy Picture of the Day!

Just a couple of points I'd like to make to hopefully add to the conversation:

For starters, group posting definitely counts towards gaining trust. If it didn't, there's no way I would have the title that I do now. Also, it is of my personal opinion that group posts have the same weight as a public forum post.

We know that the system is highly complicated, but taking that complexity to the level of separating public and private forum posts into different trust applicators (when they are practically the same thing with different labels) seems a bit much to me. I could most definitely be wrong about this but I am unsure as to why people are so adamant in stating that public posts are more weighted than private posts, as a fact, when there has been no official say on the matter. Basically, only the gold statements can be stated as fact. Nothing else.

In regards to group creation for "title boosting"; it's not going to work for a couple of reasons, but not because group posting has no effect on one's title. The reason why "title boosting" doesn't work is because most people are only thinking of their short term actions, when the title system heavily operates on long term actions.

The two largest positive trust influencers (basically the only ones that significantly matter) are one's join date and consistently positive activity, both of which take a very long time to have a noticeable effect on one's title. Basically, the system is cheat proof, and the only quick way to change your title is through a ban/warning.

quick question - i take it that having few bans/warnings is not counted when an account is 'absent'?

When was your last sentence? Bans and warnings have a certain amount of Anti Trust, so when you get them it adds the Anti-Trust to your trust and cancels it out. Eventually though the Negative trust you had from those goes away and you have a sudden spike in trust. That's when you will probably gain heroic.. Though to keep heroic you have to remain active until it is a lock-on.

What I mean by a lock on is that, If your account stays active but no posting for a required amount of time, you get trust for that. Eventually you will get enough trust to become a higher title. So by a lock-on I mean that you cannot lose it from being inactive because you did the minimum to get the title and the only way to lose it is get banned or warned.

Now I do think that while everything you do can get you more trus points, being inactive can cause your trust points t steadily decrease. Say if you posted a bunch and went up to heroic, and then became inactive for 3 months. When you come back you will have lost the title. I think this is because the posting your NOT doing has a negative impact.

You have Honorable. That relates to bans. If you have Heroic, that relates to activity.

I'm also assuming that your PPD reflects on whether you get Heroic, Legendary, and Mythic.

Since yours is 9.09 PPD, if you get 10 PPD and consistently have it at that, you might get Heroic within a few months.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

PPD has little to do with titles. Whatever mine is (which I'm sure is below 1) clearly demonstrates this.

After seeing myself, I strongly believe PPD does matter. I had a PPD of around 50-70 for 3 days and got my Legendary Title, I wasn't even Heroic for that long.

Hmm, Legendary is of course a title based on activity. However, PPD does have a lot to do with titles; more on the prefixes though. Intrepid requires a high post count, high PPD if someone gets it within 5-6 months of registering. Same thing with Fabled. Fabled however, is VERY HIGH post count. Someone may achieve this if they have a constant high PPD over the course of a year or a year and a few months.

That's just it -- you're too active. I know it seems that I'm crazy for saying this but I was extremely active before I got this (sexy) Heroic title a while back. I was typing away demanding for this title being active as much as possible. But then, I start to become less active (posting once or twice a day, each week) and out of no where I get Heroic...

I post about 25-26 PPD and I have Legendary... It all depends on the quality of the posts, not quantity. I try to make my 20 very helpful, and the 5 saved for Flood.

Buddy, time and trust built up. In all respect possible, that theory is just so ridiculous because there should be nothing negative if you are still contributing in a positive manner.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a "spam guard" of sorts that the title system has, in which posting too much results in a negative trust modifier instead of a positive one. Could be coincidental, but it would support a lot of "testimonials" that I've seen on this specific topic, like nerd's here.

I've thought of this before, too. For instance, This guy already has the 'Fabled' prefix, even though he joined less than a year ago. He obviously had to reply in/post tons of threads every day, which the system could detect as spam; this could be the reason why he isn't even a heroic member yet, but it may be just because he's a newer member.

Post quality. Quantity is a side factor, but maybe the guy's post quality is very impressive. Quality > Quantity.

First it is not against the rules. What one does in one's own private groups is a matter for one's self. And second, it was not specifically to get a higher title, it was more me trying to disprove that posting in groups contributes towards trust (back when I thought trust was calculated using a formula as simple as "PPD/days active*days since join".)
