You have to stay active.

Not entirely, I just lurked the forums for 4 years and became a mythic member.
Though posting does definately speed up the process, it isn't required I believe.

Notice how for a small time you were a Legendary Member, yet you have been here since May 2004. Most people who joined during that time would have stayed as a Mythic Member, however, since you did not post that much, you went down to a Legendary Member for a short time.

For example, I have never seen Duardo go down to a Legendary Member (he has always been a Mythic Member since the February site update), yet he joined 4 months after you. Duardo has made over 999 posts, while you have only created 262 posts. It seems post count will affect your trust.

Now, I don't know how many times you have been banned or warned, so that my have affected your trust. If you have been banned or warned, than my post is pretty much worthless. But, I am just saying that I think the post count is what caused you to drop that small amount of time.

You currently are a Mythic Member, so you are right, post count probably isn't the major factor. But, it is probably what made you go down to a Legendary Member that short amount of time.
Just observations.

I have a friend named burritosenior. He has been blacklisted and warned, but on April '08, he was a Heroic Member. He became inactive for a few months due to computer problems, and in late May, he logged on to Bungie.net, only to find himself at the title of Member. Now, this either means that he hadn't logged in for a long time, or he hadn't posted in a long time. I am not sure if logging in affects your trust, but I ASSUME it doesn't.

it isn't required I believe

My point is, it seems that you can't just become a Mythic Member by being a member for 4 years without being blacklisted or warned. If you post a few times, you can become a Myhtic Member, but it is likely that you will drop down to a Legendary Member. If you post almost every day, then it seems that you can stay a Mythic Member unless something happens (such as a blacklisting or warning, or an inactive period). I do believe that posting/staying active is REQUIRED.

Like I always say, these are just simple observation, and they could easily be wrong.

Posting is definitely a factor, but I think that time here on bungie.net is a bigger factor.

I have made well over 999 posts, but I have only been a member here seven or so months which is probably the reason I am still a member.

I am fine with my title though.

Have you ever been blacklisted or warned?

Wierd. Neither have I, yet I became a Heroic Member on February of 2008. My account was created on October 27, 2007. I only had like 300 posts in the public forums. Out of the few threads that I had created, only one of them was locked.

I'm starting to think activity can be considered both good and bad. I have a perfect comparison to provide too. There is another member who has the exact join date as me, but I'm a Member and he is a Heroic Member. The only difference is that I have about twice as many posts than him. I won't mention his name unless needed and by his approval.

I assume sometime between now and June 17th, the 12 days I've been away from a computer, contained the reason I went down from Legendary to normal member status. I suppose it supports the idea that activity affects your member rank in such a way that consistent posting is required for it to stay...

i just wanted to report something a bit wacky.

i've gone from legendary, to herioc, all the way up to mythic, and now back to heroic. all of these changes in the past 3-4 weeks.

i've had no warnings, bans, and i don't spam. i post regularly in a group or two and when i post i usually post in the screw.

just fyi, i'm not sure the system is supposed to work this way but hell, idk.

Yeah, for whatever reason I was demoted from Legendary down to just plain member. Same thing with me too, no warnings or bans. And I have been posting a lot...
