This is absolutely insane. I'd like to think that people recognize me in some forums, recent hot topics here, post a lot in Reach... but still, no matter how much I post in an intelligent, articulate, and hilarious fashion, I cannot rank up.

If there is a whole trust point system, does that mean that people, such as mods or employees, can grant titles? Or is it an automated system that only judges your post-per-day, and activity?

It's automated. Achronos himself believes that a system which requires manual input is flawed.

How long have you been posting in an intelligent fashion? Have you always been that way, or is it a recent development in your behavior aimed at purposefully trying to increase your title?

I've been around since late '07, but it wasn't until after a month of cleaning up my act and realizing what I was doing wrong that I was finally elevated to Heroic.

It's hard to explain what kind of behavior is desired. I used to post things all the time that I thought were ok, and weren't strictly against the rules, but that kind of behavior was undoubtedly the reason why I never moved beyond Member.

7 day bans could affect a user anywhere from 3-5 months, maybe less depending on the user. That ban may be affecting you from ranking up. Also, how active are you?

Well everything seems in order, you have a PPD of 30, your account is 730 days old, have you been banned or warned?

7 day ban from June 29th for telling a spammer to -blam!- off. Other than that, clean record.

I've yet to post in an intelligent, articulate and hilarious fashion, i don't think the system can recognise there factors??

Not directly, no. But like Achronos says here, the system does measure trust. Assuming you post in that fashion, your trust rating would rise. This all excluding the "hilarious" bit.

"an automated system cannot make value judgements about the content of posts... but it can use information about an account to determine a different thing: trust. It is entirely possible for the system to make an educated guess as to how "trusted" you are. By this, I mean it can look at the sum of your history here and decide "hey, this guy is a troublemaker" or "hey this guy gets warned every once in a while, but is otherwise okay" or "this guy is squeaky clean".
This was posted in 2007, i'm sure the system has been updated since then, seems that the system determines your trust rating on your history here and obviously other factors as well.

I think you kind of missed the point of what I was saying.

And the system was being tested at that time.

7 DAY BAN! Yikes, well that must be the reason, I haven't heard of any big bans like that but I don't really know much on bans because I never have been banned. So yes that is what is holding you back, you seem quite active so give it a few more months at least.

Wow over Half of your (our of your last 300) posts are in the Reach Forum! To be honest I don't think you get much from it.. I mean trust rating wize, this may sound stupid but I used to post in there every day non-stop, when I stopped and focused more on the bungie community thread more I went to Heroic, it may be a coincidence which it most likly was but.. who knows!

I do. I love talking with people in the Community, and I love speculating and having fun in the Reach forum. I dabble here and there in all the forums, mostly Reach and Community though.

  • 07.22.2010 4:36 PM PDT

Mostly the same deal with me. Anyway, there's not need to fret over a B.net title. Just stay good, be positive in discussions, and eventually you'll magically rank up.

Happy Gaming!

Why do people worry about about "Forum Ranks" any way?
The forums are meant to ask questions and give ideas. It's just fun to see what other people have on their minds and find opinions. :)

  • 07.22.2010 10:00 PM PDT

True, but Forum ranks are meant to inspire good behavior amongst community members. If you are good and don't get banned, you are rewarded with a title.

Exactly,Imagine if we didn't have forum ranks, and people got no reward for being good? This place would be chaos. People like that reward and it's a reason not to get banned...

No, only one Prefix and one Title. Plus Forum Ninja is put in place of it.

I'd like to be half-man half-tree in an octopus' garden in the shade.

Do the number of voters in polls count towards your trust? Because I created a thread in the Reach forum with a poll last night, when there was a ton of activity, and it got 300+ votes and became a hot topic with 3 pages, and a few hours later I'm a Legendary member. Which seemed strange, since I just got to Heroic a month and a half ago. So is it likely/possible that I got a big trust increase from that thread/poll?

Also, you're not empathizing with animals. You're being judgmental and snooty. you're just using this as an excuse to prove to the world how great and noble you are. This is an ego trip, that only you and those who are on the same type of ego trip could justify and applaud. You take narcissism and turn it into an art form.

Just lost my heroic for no apparent reason, after waiting around two years to get it. Harsh, brah.

Nope, not at all. Haven't been banned in over a year and was posting frequently(with decent quality)up until today.
