I was just trying to explain the way your behavior might affect your title. Not once did I ever use an aggressive attitude, nor was I hostile.

Positive vibes.

I can't seem to find my question anywhere, so I suppose I'll just ask it again.

I've been a member for one year now, maybe a month or so more, and I still haven't been promoted. I'm not too upset about it, but it's just that the FAQ says that in 6 months to a year you should become Heroic. I'm not really sure what I've done wrong, but I'd just like to know, if it's alright.

Thanks guys, it'd be a huge help.

It all depends on your activity and ban/warning history.

Oh yeah. See, I was recently permanently banned, well a few months ago at least, but the ban was taken off. Do you think that has anything to do with it?

Absolutely. Bans, especially a perma-ban (why was it undone, by the way) murder your trust rating.

Keep in mind that, for base titles, the OP lists a time frame in which a good, rule abiding, active member might expect to get promoted. There is much more behind base titles than just time. According to Achronos, the math is very complex.

Legendary Member
* title bar color is light-gray
** active member for about 1-2 years

3. Noble - Active member for 2 years, with no bans for at least 1 year. If banned/warned, you may or may not keep the title, depending on length/number of bans.

A noble member is someone who's been active for 2 years without bans but how come that you can be a noble member without being a legendary member ( which requires to be active for 1-2 years)?
Could somebody explain the system in a bit more detail?

Like I said in the post above you, base titles depend on some very complex math which figures your trust rating.

The times listed for base titles in the OP are just a general time frame for which a user who is active, who follows the rules, and who posts intelligently might expect to be promoted to those titles.

Keep in mind that, other than the Bungie web team, no one knows how the system truly works. Much of what you see in the OP is a best guess based on experimentation and experience.

Yeah, that recent perma ban may have been lifted, but since it was severe it seriously effects your title progression.

Oh alright, so it probably will take sometime for me to earn the title, based on how many bans I've had?

If your permanent ban was lifted recently, I wouldn't expect a promotion for another year. That's with the prefixes though, your base title may improve if you keep active.

Well, that depends on how much he posts. No one can say for certain, but I think it has been pretty well shown that Intrepid and Fabled are not linked to either the trust rating, or ban history.

Hard is good.

Do you think the system is fully automated or perhaps some manual is inputted?

For example, Achronos sees a good thread and thinks "oo, +5 trust points for you sir."

It is completely automated. Things like bans and warnings do affect your titles, but those are indirect consequences.

I'll try to find the post where Achronos states that the system is automated and that a system which requires manual input is flawed. Gimme a minute.

Well it was actually lifted a few months ago, maybe Decemeber'ish. Idk.

Here we go.

And some more. Part of this one is outdated though. Your title is no longer related to the highest trust rating of the day. Just ignore that bit.

Huh thats very interesting how they do it kind makes you wonder how they do yours and how you can get negative.

WHY does all this stuff have to be a mystery? Can't we just know what will rank us up?

  • 07.26.2010 2:01 PM PDT

That's just it. If the system was ever revealed, people would exploit it in order to rank up. It's better left off as a mystery.

No. We should not know how it works. We know what it means to be a good member, and that is enough. Making the specifics of the title system known to the public will only lead to people posting for no reason other than to get a title. People would just try to boost for titles here the same way they try to boost for ranks and achievements in Halo 3. The titles are meant to be a reward for good behavior, not something to collect.

I think Achronos gives us just enough information to feed the inevitable curiosity that users will have, but makes that information cryptic enough to confuse the hell out of us so that we will just give up and not worry about it. Of course, that's just not good enough for the frequenters of this thread. Unite, my Member Titles FAQs brethren! :p
