Badballer's Explanation on Trust Points
As we know there are 9 prefixes (including absent), I'll stick them in their proper groups.

Ban History
- Honorable
- Noble
- Exalted

Activity
- Absent*
- Intrepid
- Fabled

Length
- Veteren
- Senior
- Elder

Take note though that absent member does not follow the rules, it's a stand alone which follows its own rules. Inactivity for 2 or more months. I simply stuck it in activity down on the lower end of the spectrum of activity. Seperate them all into 3's.

All figures are made up and are being used as examples

Legendary Member = 10 000 TP
Ban History = 3 000 TP
Activity = 4 000 TP
Length = 3 000 TP

This user is either an Intrepid or Fabled Legendary Member.

So why is it that we see some users with no prefix? My guess is that their TP looks a little something like this.

Legendary Member = 10 000 TP
Ban History = 3 000 TP
Activity = 3 000 TP
Length = 4 000 TP

As we know, to even earn the Veteren prefix you have to be a member on bungie.net for 4+ years. The system refuses to give this member a prefix until the Ban History or Activity TP takes over.

Well that's what I think anyway, not really that complex but a theory none the less.

I will agree with you on the concept. I'm a Veteran with no added member title due to my 1 and only ban which happend in Dec. 2009. It was a 5 or 3 day ban, I can't remember.

How long does it take to "shake" away a ban in your history. It's months, not weeks or days. I'm thinking the length of time which prevents your member title from advancing is as follows:

3-day ban: 3 months
7-day ban: 7 months
etc.

You HAVE to "do your time" until you advance your member title up. Activity during this waiting period is important I suppose, even though I have been here for 4 years, once the ban wears off, I won't automatically go to Mythic. Of course your trust points are obviously still counted during this time, however their impact will not be felt until the ban history wears off.

So I have to wait 5 and a half years before I can go up.

I have a question. How long does it take to 'shake off' a warning? I was warned a few days ago, and lost my mythic title.

Not long. If you keep posting smart post every day, you should get your rank back soon.

I also had a thread locked earlier today. I don't suppose this hurts my TP?

Well it could, but sometimes it depends on what it was locked for.

Well, it wasn't really me doing bad things that got it locked, it was more about the potential for others to flame and hate in such a thread.

I'd like to be half-man half-tree in an octopus' garden in the shade.

I don't think it matters what it got locked for; if the system sees that a thread you created was locked, then it may possibly hurt your trust slightly.

I just got off like an 8 month ban (on 7/26), came back as a normal member, and now I'm Legendary. Can anyone explain why? I mean, I register in late 2007, but still, Normal -> Legendary in a week?

  • 08.03.2010 12:58 AM PDT

The Marty Army

Believe.

I got a warning yesterday i can only hope for an activity prefix.

I've been thinking about this for a while now, i joined here in 2007, about a month or two later i became active on the flood and halo 3 forum and it was like that for a year or two, then just active to the flood, that was all daily.

I have had some bans but i've been active all the time now, hopefully i can get the fabled title or whichever the 1 year activity one is soon.

Were you a Heroic/Legendary/Mythic member before the ban? And during the ban, did you regularly sign in and browse the forums, or post in private groups?

(By the way, what in the world did you do to warrant an 8 month ban? O.O)

I pretty much didn't even visit B.net until recently. And I think I was Honorable Member at best before I was banned.

And it was a permanent ban for continued "abuse" of the Flood forum. I waited a while (8 months), and then came back to appeal. I'm being good now. At least I hope I am.

Interesting... Yesterday a received a warning and I didn't lose my title until today, apparently they update every 24 hours, midnight I would say. Unless Acrhonos or another super-user forces the system to update the titles.

Well it differs, some times the system updates the ranks every min or every week. Just keep active and post smartly.

Here's a question. If I post about 40-50 times a day, how long would it talk to get Intrepid and Heroic?

Probably a year if you don't get banned, maybe more.

Have you been active and have you been warned/banned?

Unfortunately for you yes, I suggest you just stay active and post smart. Then you will have a better chance of getting promoted.

Well, I think I'm past the point of no return. I got my 4th ban (stupid Fridays...+5) on this account, just adding on to the three previous linked account bans. I think it is going to be a LONG time before I see ANY title on this account. Oh well, that's what Coup is for I guess. >_>

Damn. Sucks for me. Just got to avoid bans I guess.

Where, as I said a few pages back, I've gotten about 5 bans, have been here less then 2 years, and I have legendary title.

Same as me, i've been here for over two years and been banned about 5 times, and here i am, still a member.

I've been here almost 2 years, with 1 warning, and yet an honorable member.

Well considering no one knows what the figures are, i'd say at least 6 months. 40 - 40, so i'll say 45; that means you would have posted 7560 posts in the 6 months. I'm sure Intrepid (High post count) and Fabled (Very high post count) would be more than 7500 posts, assuming this I reckon that Intrepid ould be 10,000 posts and Fabled either 15,000 or 20,000 posts. SOunds a little extream but who knows!

Thanks for your ideas! One more thing. Is "Exalted Mythic Member," the highest title achievable?

Yes, this is the order:
PREFIXES FOR BASE TITLES
*Note - All info. has been gathered from numerous community members; the dates are only theories

* In order from lowest to highest
* Priority comes into play only when a user qualifies for more than one member title

Approximately:
1. Honorable - No bans/warnings in about 1 year. If banned/warned, you may or may not keep the title, depending on length/number of bans. Source
2. Veteran - Active member for 4 years
3. Noble - Active member for 2 years, with no bans for at least 1 year. If banned/warned, you may or may not keep the title, depending on length/number of bans. Source
4. Senior - Active member for 5 years
5. Elder - Active member for 6 years
6. Intrepid - High post count
7. Fabled - Very high post count
8. Exalted - No bans/warnings in 3 years
9. Absent - inactivity for 2 or more months

* Added to the title system on November 13, 2008

Absent is the highest although I have no idea why.. I think it should be the least but there we go!
