I'm not flaming or trolling or anything but I bet with any money you do care about your title, who wouldn't care about having a mythic title, I sure hell care about my Senior one....

I'm not talking to you. Stop replying to me if you're going to get all pissy about it. Sorry to get like this but seriously. I'm talking to blade. Blade wants a new title. Hence any post I make about how to avoid bans and get new titles, while quoting EXCLUSIVELY blade, I'm not talking to you.

Ergo, responding to me in a malicious manner and implying I'm talking to you is inappropriate and derails the thread whilst I'm attempting to have a civil conversation with someone about Titles and Prefixes, which is the subject of this forum.

Snipes, you're getting arrogant. People that want titles go out of their way to obey the rules, I don't. I will enjoy my stay on Bnet without posting like I'm walking on coals.

Yes it is. I've been here a year and had NONE. Learn to read the rules next time?

I went 2 years without a ban. This year was the year I recieved my first ban. I have read the rules plenty of times.
Well then, I'm sorry, but you obviously aren't taking them into consideration when you post. That may help you not get banned anymore.

  • 09.05.2011 4:17 PM PDT

I've read the rules multiple times, and I know them quite well (although I've forum copped improperly twice recently). This discussion isn't about my title, either.

I don't go out of my way to obey rules. It's mostly common sense. And even if your sense tends to fail you, skimming rules just once should give you good direction.

You, sir, don't care for the rules. I don't understand why you are getting so heated over this conversation based on your title then. Sure, those bans won't affect your prefix, but your PPD/post count drops during those periods of bans. Therefore you don't get a new title or prefix.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

I feel I have sort have "earned" my title but losing it wouldn't be the end of the world. I've lost it twice, actually. :P

Clearly forums are a new concept to you, if you have to feel that you're "walking on coals" in order to avoid getting banned.

LOL!
I always thought the whole "Mythics look down on others" thing was stupid, but I now see there's merit to it. I couldn't care less about titles, hence me saying "I'm not going to act like I'm walking on coals." I'm not going to go out of my way to obey the strict rules of the site; if I break a rule because I wasn't paying attention, then I'll get banned. That's what happens when I get banned. I don't mean to break the rules, but I'm not going to screen every post I make to make to ensure I don't lose a title -- that's pathetic.

  • 09.05.2011 4:19 PM PDT

Stop being arrogant. If you're going to speak like you know the ins and outs of the rules and the moderation of this site (which you do to an extent of near annoyance and which you did in your reply) then I'm going to call you out on it. Also, your post also applied to the position I am in, so I had a right to respond to it. Quite with the high-and-mighty stuff, please.

No, but the rules of these forums are very strict and a little mess up can get you banned, especially with the biased moderation system. The things I get banned for are little things, e.g., bumping, off-topic posts, posts in the wrong forum, etc. I usually get banned due to an accident. Could everyone stop speaking as though they are omniscient of everyone's position?

Guys, they're titles. He just said that he thought you cared about your title, no need to find errors in his post to try to evade his statement. I think you care about your Mythic, a lot of Mythics do, but he was just saying that it's the hardest title to obtain and you would naturally care about it.

I feel also feel (from some of my previous comments) that posting between different forums help to increase your chances of getting a different title?

I would not say? I know a User on here who only posted on The Flood forums and gained Fabled in leass than two months?

Oh, I don't know, I figure it might help in some, maybe not but I did once just post in the Halo 3 forums, jumped into the Flood forums, posted a few things and I got a legendary title so I don't, that could have just been luck

  • 09.05.2011 4:27 PM PDT

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a factor.

This is nothing to be "proud of"; I didn't throw myself a party when I got it, I barely cared (the only real reaction was me bragging about it to people I knew cared, because I'm a douche like that) Mythic means absolutely nothing but an indication that you've been around a while and haven't gotten too many bans recently, and trust me when I say I've had my fair share of expected and unexpected rule violations. This isn't even my earliest account.

No there isn't. Blink explicitly said he doesn't give a -blam!- about titles. He said you shouldn't care about them. How was he looking down on you? If anything, he should look down on you because of your ban history (in comparison to his). At least one of which I know to be for a completely avoidable reason.

I'm not going to go out of my way to obey the strict rules of the site;

Name one rule of the BNet forums that could be considered "strict". They're all normal rules that are mainly common sense.

if I break a rule because I wasn't paying attention, then I'll get banned.

As I said earlier. Your most recent ban was completely avoidable in almost every aspect of its nature. Not going to talk about it anymore unless you bring it up, but still.

don't mean to break the rules, but I'm not going to screen every post I make to make to ensure I don't lose a title -- that's pathetic.

Look at Blink. He has a fairly respectable title. I HIGHLY doubt he screens all of his posts. I just think he uses common sense on a regular basis... like a normal human being.

Again, the rules here are very similar to any rules in other communities on the web. I could use a religious debate or political debacle every once in a while, but it is disallowed from the public forums. Solution: private chapters. The things I get banned for are little things, e.g., bumping, off-topic posts, posts in the wrong forum, etc. I usually get banned due to an accident. What is the point in bumping a post? If it has left the front list of active threads, that shows it has lost the interest of the community, hence the reason it is no longer on the first page. It is easy to understand how this is spam. As for posting in the wrong forum, what's so hard about that? I can understand brand new members making this mistake but you claimed you have read the rules... multiple times.

The guidelines of these forums are looser than you make them out to be. If the thought even crosses your mind, "Hey, I was banned for this before." then just don't do it.

If the discussion, by your own admission, isn't about your title, why are you getting so combative and snippy with everyone over what they're saying to blade? If anyone should be upset, it's him and he seems to be handling it fine.

The discussion isn't about you and if you find it causing you undue stress, then do the smart thing and just walk away from it; starting a fight with everyone is the dumbest thing you can possibly do.

Back to the original topic of the thread as a whole, I'm wondering if the title system and method of obtaining titles will receive a complete overhaul when the impending update to Bungie.net itself happens; will all these theories go out the window and be useless, putting us back to square one?

Translation:

"Why would I read a post that's responding to what I said? There's no way anything of merit or a valid point could be contained therein. That would be ridiculous."

I just made it easier for myself to respond to each of your points. It would have taken you less than a minute to read that. The fact that you didn't because of the fact that you've seen other posts that are in a similar format that have no legitimate feedback in them and think this one is equal to those in actual content, is confusing and ridiculous.

I've never been banned for the same thing twice. Also, bumping was an example, I've never been banned for it.

Would you guys stop trying to argue with me over how I got my bans? We've got some Mythix here trying to speak down to me because of my bans and then we've got Snipes kissing the Mythixes' asses and saying they have "respectable titles" and etc. It's ridiculous, just stop, would you? The way I got my bans are none of you guys' concern, and my title is fine the way it is.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to be Mythic. I wanted to be a Mythic Member so bad. Now, wanting to be a Mythic Member and seeing it as a "I'm better than you" banner is for the wrong reason.
