It's from a different topic where *cough* squishy here basically used a lot of thread to say that he'd really like a different username.

Nah, I'm kidding about it. My point is that I've been a member for so long. I joined bnet on this account in 2005.

Spread the love...

I wonder if making a Thread with lots of replies helps you rank up, or if just posting ranks you up more...

It seems you are right. He technically didn't say the prediction had to come true.

Thanks for getting us back on topic.

I have also wondered this from time to time. If only we could see the inter workings of the system

I know for sure that they at least change weekly, although, I theorize it changes daily.

I was kinda thinking people's titles change at the end of the month.
My theory is that it changes whenever it reaches the "requirement" for the next rank.

There have been time where I haven't posted in a while so my rank went down. And then after my first post, it instantly went back up.

I too believe that titles can change at any time, but I also theorised earlier in this thread that the effect warnings/bans have on your title may often end at the end of a month. Although warnings/bans do not necessarily result in the loss of titles, it often does, and this effect appears to wear off in one go (i.e. the effect is present for a certain length of time, and then is gone, or significantly decreased).

The effect of a ban wearing off can be seen when members suddenly increase in rank (e.g. from Member to Mythic) and, if this effect were usually to wear off at the end of a month, this may then result in the appearance of a "bump" in many members' titles.

It wasn't hard to win. Spawn only asked if anyone could make the prediction. He did not mention any need for us to actually make the prediction, or for the prediction to be correct. If he manages to avoid unwanted attention, I can't imagine it would take long for him to regain titles, considering how long he has been a members and how active he has been.

What your saying with the ban wearing off really would make a lot of sense, and explain the sudden jumps around the end of the month.

I'm still curious about the subject of "skipping base titles". What would be the likelihood of say and account that has been active (logging on daily and posting fairly regularly) for two years come this April to skip heroic and land on legendary? I mostly feel that there is little to no chance of such an event happening.

My actual question is has anyone seen or heard of this happening before? An example? I'm fairly curious.

P.S- Yes I posted the first question before but no one, at that time, knew of any examples.

Well, as Spartan TKIA was syaing, it could be due to a ban wearing off. If true, when the ban wears off and you meet all the other requirements for a certain rank, you could technically jump ranks.

Do you think said account could skip if it never achieved Heroic before?

It's possible, if I remember correctly bans put a "temporarily" negative number on your trust rating. So in theory if you can enough trust during that time while under the penalty of a ban it is possible that when the ban wears off you could be slingshotted past a title or two.

Can't be too careful with your company. I can feel the devil walking next to me.

Mythic as of sometime between 2PM CST and now. I'll be pulling up how many days it has been since attaining Legendary and bans and the like. Now if only search wasn't so terrible to search this thread for all of my posts...

Just keep up you activity, and stay ban free, and it should come in time.

To be honest, I am surprised you don't have Intrepid/Fabled. You post a lot... heh

It has to be for a long period of time, once he starts ranking up it will be pretty quick.

So I think I found all of the changes in my title. I used to keep a running tab of all of my title changes, but it has been so long since a change that I forgot where they were.

01/16/08: Joined bungie.net
(sometime between these two dates I get Heroic)
11/12/08: Get warning. Lose Heroic.
11/13/08: Gain Honorable. (Day the prefixes were implemented)
12/08/09: Change to Honorable Heroic Member.
1/15/10: Change to Noble Heroic Member.
1/30/10: I receive a warning, and a result I lose the Heroic title.
2/6/10: I receive a 3 day ban, and lose all titles and prefixes for 3 days.
2/9/10: I recover from the ban. I retain Honorable.
06/01/10: Change to Honorable Heroic Member.
06/04/10: Change to Honorable Legendary Member.
12/18/11: Change to Honorable Mythic Member.

Aside from the seemingly random and jacked-up-ness of the ban related prefixes, it is a pretty standard amount of time for Mythic.
