Can you believe it?

It seems like a lot of peoples titles changed yesterday.

I noticed that a lot of people's titles change on the first day of a month. A lot of people in one of my groups went straight from member to legendary or mythic.

Your observations just gave me a new theory. Thanks! ^_^

I'm glad I could help and I'm interested in hearing what your theory is.

I too noticed that a lot of member titles changed on the 1st, but there is something different about the majority of the members who had their titles changed. From my previous observations the titles changed roughly on a weekly basis, usually on the weekends from personal experience. This led me to believe that even if trust is calculated on a daily basis, it may only be applied to a member's title on a weekly basis, however this is all just speculative.

You said you noticed a decent amount of members who jumped straight to "Legendary" and "Mythic" from "Member", right? Well that can only happen if:

1.) They are all long term members who all had a sudden increase of activity after a long period of inactivity.
or
2.) They are all long term members who were banned at one point or another and are finally starting to regain the system's trust.

Scenario #1 seems unlikely to me because the odds of 10+ long term members suddenly becoming very active at the same time are rather small. Scenario #2 seems much more probable to me since the member title system is automated, thus individual member titles are more likely to change along with their "similar" peers if you will.

Like I hinted at the beginning of my post, I noticed that the majority of the member's who had title changes on April first were previously banned users. This may just be a coincidence, or it may mean that banned users regain trust starting on the first of a given month, X amount of months after their ban (depending on the severity of the ban). I am curious to see what happens on May 1st. ^_^

That's possible. I would be a good example. I'm one of those people that floats in between heroic member and member. It seems arbitrary, but I know it isn't.

Is it known whether having your threads locked affects your trust, and thus your rank?

Does anyone even read these?

Having a thread locked shouldn't affect anything. A locked thread isn't anything bad is it? Maybe you just need a question being answered.

This is the reason as to why I hoped that it wouldn't affect it, however, some threads are locked for negative reasons, like spamming etc. I assume those people get banned for repeat offences.

I have a suspicion that it would. Only slightly affect your trust rating probably.

Well my guess is that a locked thread isn't an offence, mistakes will be made. A ban however occurs when the mistake is not a mistake at all, it is something much worse.

A thread could be locked through no fault of the OP, as well, right? I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that locking threads had no bearing on the trust rating.

Can you also obtain these titles from good behavior? I've been good all the month or two I've been on here Santa!(Oops! I meant Forum Ninjas and Bungie Staff)

Yes you can. A couple months won't do it for you though, you need to behave for a long series of time until you are rewarded for it.

Well, I don't know how true this may be, (if at all), but if a user wound up being reported multiple times before having their thread locked, it very well could affect their trust-rating. Locked threads due to multiple reports might have some spot in the system that deducts from a user's trust level, which seems to make sense.

On the other hand, when a thread is locked without being reported, it doesn't make sense that a user's trust would go down. Like said earlier, if you had a simple question and then your thread was locked after being answered, (without being reported, of course), then it's not through fault of the user.

That's all off the top of my head, so I could very well be wrong. I'm just throwing in my thoughts- good ones are rare for me :-)

I doubt that it would. There are plenty of threads that are closed, but not because it is spam, but because it lead to a flame war, or people started making off-topic posts.

With that in mind, I doubt it would seeing as it wouldn't have been the OP's fault.

You can always use your imagination. Just because something isn't directly in front of you doesn't mean it's there. The Webcam MVP title could be thought of as make up, and it's just covering up your normal title. You can be a pretty girl if you'd like, or just stick with what you've got :-)

Well, wasn't that odd? :-P

What are the requirements for being a Noble Member?

I'm asking this, because my friend has made 7 posts EVER and is a noble member, so maybe that can help us figure out exactly what it takes...
