From looking at the member titles of members who I know and trust personally, however, I think it is safe to say that as long as you remain active and comport yourself in a "trustworthy" way, your trust rating/member title will be appropriately reflective in time.
Thank you for the expansion of my vocabulary. The context of the sentence gave away the definition of comport, but what the heck:comport: to bear or conduct (oneself); behave: He comported himself with dignity.Good to know.

The really good part of it? Is that if you are having fun while posting well and enjoying your time here, not only is your trust rating improving (and the title as a result), you begin to realize/understand that the REAL reward isn't a title or a colored banner. The real reward is that you're actually enjoying your time here and your interaction with other members of the community. -Recon Number 54

I have had two 7 day bans in the past (To this day, I still don't know why). I was wondering, am I like totally screwed out of a new title?

Jeremiah. He was a former Bungie Employee. I'm not exactly sure what the title means, but I believe it is along the lines of Lost Guardian, or Lost soul.

Yep. In Latin, "custos" means guardian. I'm not sure what "avius" means but your guess seems reasonable. KP also bears the title.

This is what I could dig up: Avius -a -um: of places [out of the way , untrodden]; of persons, [wandering, astray, lost].

Custos: Guardian of sorts.

I'm curious, how many months does it take to be promoted to a Heroic Member with no bans?

That's a good question, it's all based on your trust rating. I am approaching my one year anniversary with no bans and I'm a member.

Length of membership is factored in, but there is not set time period.

Most of which are at least partially wrong. Be a good little member. Post constructively, don't get banned, and play nice, and you stand a good chance of eventually getting a shiny new title.

Trust + Time seems to be the standard. The mythic members have been here a while, so time is important.

  • user homepage:

If I were to guess I'd say that the join date in itself isnt as important as the amount of times (dates) a member has been signed in. Let's say that a "trust point" is given for every X number of dates a member has been signing in to B.net and that to be able to achieve a certain title one has to reach a pre-determined trust value. This will ofcause be to advantage for those who have been here for years simply because they've probably been signed in on more dates but it doesnt have to be this way either since some are only visiting B.net every now and then, in which case their join dates dont have much effect.

This theory will create a natural threshold since to be able to reach a certain title trust value you have to have been signed in a certain amount of times which newer members even theoretically havent been able to do yet, hence "lower" titles and prefixes.

Now this would only be one of many parameters. There's been discussions regarding the effects of a linked GT etc. Some of these one-time actions might earn a member more trust points than by just signing in a few times but for an older active member who has signed in houndreds of times the activity trust points will be far greater in comparison.

We don't know whether or not Achronos is still tweaking the system, but it's important to note that many factors come into play in your base member title, which is based solely on your trust rating on the website.

It's not just about the length of membership, number of warnings/bans, and most recent login to your account. There are other factors that we don't even know about. From looking at the member titles of members who I know and trust personally, however, I think it is safe to say that as long as you remain active and comport yourself in a "trustworthy" way, your trust rating/member title will be appropriately reflective in time.
i know we are not supposed to gripe about our titles, but this thread seems to be the exception to the rule. what i dont understand about this whole title business, is the trust factor. i was "trustworthy" enough for a mythic title (however short lived it was), and have been a legendary member for most of the time. i just dont see how anyone could stop being "trustworthy", just because they dont post for a while. it seems to me, that rewards nonsense posting and spam. 2 things i refuse to do , for the sake of a title. i could see if i had been banned or been warned recently (my 1 warning was last year), but to all of a sudden loose trust because i dont post 80 times a day, makes no sense at all.

Really?

Just trying to point out that, as has been said, however much stock you put in the theories, being a good member is a surefire way to eventually get a title.

You're either first or you're last.

You'll never amount to anything, go back under your bridge.

I've been switching between a 'member' and 'heroic member' for days now. Any ideas on why? I haven't been banned or done anything offensive, that I know of. It seems like every other day my forum title is one or the other... Might it be because I go inactive 1 day, and I'm just barely on the line that separates the titles :S?

Proud tester of the Halo 3 beta.

So Exalted is the "best" title prefix and Absent, or Veteran is the lowest title prefix?

EDIT: "(in no specific order) with definitions"

Ok, never mind. But I still wonder, do you know what prefix is the highest of Honorable, Noble and Exalted?
