Ive been thinking and would it be cool to be able to pull out a handgun and use it along side a gun turret? So, if you have an SMG while manning a turret you use A or something to pull out a handgun and use both and press Y if you want to switch handguns (if you have more than one)

So, manning a turret would be less accurate but youd have some more fire power. Some comments people?

Also, if you can think of a better system for this to work please speak up

i wouldnt say that its un-haloish but i that would just open up too many possibilities and to do that they would have to postpone halo 2 again so they could get it perfect.

or.... maybe they have already thought about it and have it in there and just havent showed us yet.

I dont really see the point, if your using a turret that bungie made stationary because it's so powerful I cant think of a handgun that would be better than a turret. But in warthogs it might work since you cant shoot anyways.

Usually when you man a turret or a stationary weapon, you go in 3rd person view. That would make it very messed up to try to aim your other weapon in hand while shooting the turret.

yeah thats true but it would just have mc pulling out a gun in 3rd person and using it.

But how could you aim the gun?would you have two targeting reticles?

  • 06.10.2004 9:35 AM PDT

My thumbsticks will be your Doom.... sorry 'bout that.
My Stats

Armed & Dangerous is a pretty fun game. Anyways... i think any turret is so powerful that you'd need two hands to handle it. That said I don't want Halo 2 to be too complicated, dual wielding will be a huge implementation as it is -no need to further mess with the feel of the game (the turret segments that is).

no, you would just be like using a normal turret in 3rd person except mcs also holding a one-handed-weapon and both together, fire innaccurately

It would be pretty cool if while your still on the warthog,if an enemy is behind you,you could open up a barrage with dual SMG's.

No, I don't believe this should happen. Turrets are innaccurate as it is. It's mostly for covering fire. The last thing we need is a more innaccurate turret. Besides the SMG won't make that big a difference and using a BR with a turret is just stupid and wasteful. Don't mean to flame, just stating my opinions.

while in the turret just call in for back up. i don't see how pulling out another gun would work.

a similar sytem is being instigated for the quadbike, which can be steered 1 handed, with less control

I was thinking more along the lines of a warthog turret maybe....The rocket hog fires very accurate rockets so its not innaccurate already at all...Also I said that you should only be able to use one-handed-weapons so that it doesnt become stupid like using a sniper rifle or second rocket launcher. Just think while in the rocket hog, when not firing any rockets you could be dishing out some more pain with an SMG or needler (and it would make it more inaccurate to balance like i said)

I'm sorry but this is a horrible Idea... Most people I find have a hard enough time handling a turret gun on the warthog in the original halo. Not to mention how good or bad the person driving the warthog is. The Stationary turret will be easier to control but I still think it's a bad Idea. If you can't take them out with the turret, I don't think a pistol or smg is really going to help.

I also dont like the idea.
However it might be good to have the option to drive one handed, leaning out of the side and shooting but less control over the warthog.

I think that it would be okay with a needler or another covenant weapon so you could take out more enemies. and earlier someone said how would the aiming work? It would work the same as the dual wielding does without using a turret. It uses one target. If you have seen the demo trailer for halo 2 i mean.
