If Bungie thought the game was slowed down when people who would wait for their shields to recharge, then why wouldn't they get rid of the shield? Whether or not the health showes up on screen won't stop people from waiting for their shields to recharge; if the shield pops, hide and wait. It's the fact that the shield recharges that makes people back off and wait.

Changes are hard things to take, just get over it and enjoy the master piece..

Bungie doesnt change something this dramatic without knowing the consequences. What has been said or a rumor, is that the shields are way harder to "pop". This new feature can bring great new plans and experience, running like a chicken without a head who has drunk three martini's filled with Budweiser to the battlefield isnt an option anymore, brains are required to be a grasshopper. I think the best way to "experience" these changes is to sit back, read them, say thanx for their effort and wait for the date off all.

the shields are not harder to "pop" watch any trailer where someone dies and you'll see how similar it is to the original.

Hell, even if they don't "pop" people are still gonna wait till they recharge, it's the recharging that makes people stop...even before they pop, oh yah!

Not that I'm complaining, I like the recharging shields.

Yeah yeah yeah, whatever Bungie releases on Nov.9th will fill our pants with poo but this omition of the Health Bar just seems a little too odd, I still don't understand what advantage (or progress) this gives over what we had in Halo 1.

And I doubt Marine-medics will be just hanging around in the MP maps.

If we just have to keep a mental note of how many hits we can take when our shields are down then it'll just be another distraction.
Plus... on Halo 1 when you are in an intense one on one battle and you die (thinking about 2 player vs.) but you notice that your opponent has only one red bar of health left you both go "oooohhh that was close". You don't wanna lose that facet of gameplay do ya?

I still maintain that the reporter for Opa site -who started all this- was just trying to fill space in his column (even tho he supposedly talked to a Bungie rep about it). So lets not wedge our underwear too far up our asses on this topic just yet.

Watch any trailer you'll realise that there is no health bar under the new shield bar. And hes even taken a picture of marty so thats proof that hes probably talked about it...

Actually, this is a step away from the realism of the game, MC and all of his team wear bio monitors similar to those worn by astronauts, and mc can access these readouts from the bio monitors, so dropping the health bar will be a step away from realism, it doesnt have to stay as a bar though, it could actually be just a small circle on the end of your shield bar that changes colour with status

If you don't have a health bar how do you know if you need to pick up a health pack?

They may have dropped powerups so that your skill decides whether you win and not some powerup you picked up before hand....

I trust Bungie to make it work. If they say it will imrove gameplay then it will, if it does'nt then they won't put it in, simple as that. Bring on November 9th.

Ash55, you consider Health Packs to be power ups?

Yes I have noticed that the Health bar has been absent in all Halo 2 footage, this doesn't necessarily mean that it won't be in the game on Nov.9. I've stated before that I sincerely believe (mostly due to mentions of the HUD on weekly updates) that we haven't seen the final mock-up of the HUD. It's just too big a deal in the game to let us see it now.

I also have no idea what O'Donnel looks like so I wouldn't know a picture of him if I saw it (was there a caption under the photo or something? I didn't notice the pic to begin with) I'm not saying he made the stuff up just that I wouldn't take anything as hard fact if it's not from Bungie directly.

I like the idea it forces players to be more patient and on ledgendary it was the same way any two seconds of exposure was lethal. I imagine that if you hit them in the head with any gun when they dont have shield it will instant kill while it will take some time to kill them by hittin their mid section so nothing will really change but it will make it more realistic and remove the silly FPS cliched box o health I like this change

Change is hard to get used to so any changes were going to have to accept and hope Bungie is doing a good job which im pretty sure they are

I know EXACTLY what you mean, I wouldnt take any other info thats not from bunie 100% but the trailers all have only a shield bar.

Oh and regarding healthpacks as powerups yes....

Every single thing in halo1 that you pick up automatically and makes you "better" is considered a powerup.

Human and needle ammo
OverShield
Active Camo
Health Pack.

Of course, Halo2 has ammo powerups so health packs will probably be in too (if the health bar makes it in..)

It doesn't really take a mental note. You die within seconds in Halo without your shields. In Halo 2, with the addition of dual wielding, you'll be dead within a half second once your shields pop. Make sure you're taking notes, okay?

Ash man, the powerups are not gone... they just took them out of the E3 demo... if you watched it he says "they took them out of the demo"

I look at the little circle next to the sheild bar, it changes colour! I think thats just a new health bar. Like someone mentioned before, it would interpret you life signs so when they are fading it would turn yellow and when you really close to death, red.

maybe....but im sure bungie are cutting some aspects of the original game. leaving powerups out is just an idea I never said they would I just said they might. But obviously if bungie say theyre in, theyre in...

I'm pretty sure that shield bar at the E3 demo was just a place holder. I read this somewhere, but I can't remember where. I'll try and find the link. Anywhooo, I think there will be a health bar, but they are just designing it now. Or I'm retarded. Either ones good.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that they said it was just a placeholder also. And who the hell stops moving when their shield gets taken out, that's just stupid. When your shield goes down you gotta keep popping the enemy in the face until one of you dies.
