"Like turning a Dictatorship into a Democracy" (Just wanted to give you a peak of what I am going for in this thread)

I am not the only one with ideas and, sadly enough (sad even if it does keep my thread afloat), a common response is
"please do not give suggestions or ideas, leave it to bungie"---- in meaner or kinder words

I find this to be quite annoying since I want to help build the game concept-wise, even if I'm not eligible to get paid for my ideas

Why Isn't this community more about Maximizing the game that this community is here for, Halo?
Why is it about obvious bug fixes and rather unnecessary opinions about armor that is better left for small talk in Flood and Such?

-On second thought... The bug fixes should be pointed out
-But I stand by my point that Halo 3 appreciation should be flood talk rather then Halo 3 talk

I find this very annoying since many threads with ideas (Depending on your perspective are good or bad) are left unseen or Flamed

I personally believe every idea has potential, You might have to mix it up a little, But when you realize the potential of each individual idea, thats when a good game made by a company turns into a great game made by every fan and the company

Like turning a Dictatorship into a Democracy

It's like a foundry map...
-Throwing Trash around every where may not seem like a decant map, but it gives you different ideas for different areas, A junkyard
-The infamous; Fusion Coil Pile o' Doom
-And Some classics like a spiraling starcase

These three elements, though seperately may seem annoying can end up a particularly interesting map
-Spiralling staircase in a far corner that no one can spawn in
--Fusion coils in little piles a junkyard of debris that you can use as cover to try and take the tower with

That is why I hope that the Halo three forums turns less about Halo 3 fanboys looking to get a little Recon
And more about trying to develop the game into something more

And to all those that think I'm doing this for recon "The Everlooming Shadow of Greedy Intentions" I hope you recognize that I don't even have my gamer tag present. I'm doing this for love of the games

And for fear that this forum will detereorate into something out of Idiocracy
-STFU N00B nobody wants to hear your idea....

When It's the intelligent people, the ones with imagination, that in fact made your game
-And for Idiocracy's sake- Made your government, machines, and everything else that our society runs on

So also stop harrassing nerds like me... If not for the sake that they're people, for the sake that they're our future
And for halos sake, the game

* Some people just ignore the rules, then some make accounts just to troll and spam.

* Then there are the new members who have never been on a forum before; so they ignore the stickies and don't know the rules.

* Now we come to the members who know the rules but insist that something is broken because it happens to them.

* Finally there are the members whose name you recognize.

Every member is different; and every post no matter what is in it will be different. It's the people's choice how they want to organize their post. If they really want people to give a decent reply then they need to state evidence on what's wrong.

In my opinion the only way to get rid of trolls is to ignore them and report the post. Some people don't care for the good of the community and just feed them with either memes or unnecessary replies.

I'm unsure whether this community is going up or down. I honestly hope things will balance out.

P.S. I typed this in 3:30 in morning, so this might not be right on topic.

Yeah, I posted the rant at like 2:30,
Found out later there were TONS of half finished sentences and poor grammer

I've reported people before to have a mod in return write
"you can't report someone for disagreeing with you"

I wrote back to him
"I didn't report him for disagreeing, tons of people in my thread did that, I did it because he called me a Tard"

I actually had one guy flat out PM me

I just want to ask bungie if they thought it was a good idea if the Bungie made FanBoy Threads go to the Flood while leaving the Halo 3 forums simply for two things, Development and Bug Fixes

I want this community to be about helping bungies with unique ideas and helping them make the most perfect game possible,
-If we continue down our current road, The Halo Forums will be left a Fanboy Troll Club where every topic would be like

"What weapon do you like the best?"
or
"

If Bungie would rather have small talk then trying to get dirty in some creative work with their fans then thats they're choice. I find it to be a bad one however for these reasons:
1) Fans may come up with original ideas, thus Bungie would miss out on them
2) Your spreading an ego to a community that doesn't deserve it. Flamers feel good when they make others feel bad, and we are allowing this
3) Another subject I will not bring up here, but if you are curious PM me about it

We need to in fact have FlameBait just to Lure Flamers out.

But Instead of it actually being users, I suggest the people throwing out the flamebait are Bungie Members on Alternate Accounts that use their own personal ideas.
-See how it feels to throw out an Idea to be pummeled by excess flame
-Watch as your post dies without a single person recognizing its potential and Your own fears of bumping it because Mods don't like it
-Think about, all the other people that want to throw out an idea and watch as their hope dies with an unreplied thread

In Essence

Your site will turn into a "TIme-Killer" Website, Not an actual development website. No ideas will be listened to except Bungies. That is we do not change up the Halo 3 Forums and Get ready to report every peice of flame there is.

  • 12.24.2007 5:06 AM PDT

Halo3Planet, the place for all things Halo 3..

Need help finding skulls, make sure to go here.

You are assuming that your idea deserved to be discussed more than others. What you think of as good or bad is not necessarily the same as what someone else thinks. The halo 3 Forum is there to discuss Halo 3. It doesn't have to be about bugs or ways to make it better. The forum is there to discuss storyline, weapons, vehicles, mulitplayer, and basically everything that has to do with Halo 3. I do not understand why you think your way is better, by limiting conversation.

You can talk about all the unnecessary details in the flood forums because pretty much thats what it is, just small conversations that don't have to deal with making the game better
when it comes down to it, I want to talk about gameplay and all that happens is people just let every idea slide.

you my freind are a poor reader

Paragraph six
-I find this very annoying since many threads with ideas (Depending on your perspective are good or bad) are left unseen or Flamed-

I never assumed that my idea deserves to be seen,
I just am acting instead of sitting back and watching these boards turn into a Fanboy party where the only ideas ever thought about are bungies
-I would like to consider every idea, instead of just a few

but all the stupid bull about Recon Armor and all these opinion threads like "Whats your favorite weapon?" else gets in the way
-Thats why I want that forum to be suggestion and development only
-Leave the small talk for the Flood

  • 12.24.2007 6:55 AM PDT

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Posted by: formula2
-Thats why I want that forum to be suggestion and development only
-Leave the small talk for the Flood

That's Roman Arrow's point. It is not a matter of what you want, it is a matter of what the majority want, and, as it seems, the majority would much rather see threads about their favorite weapons, or how often the melee fails.

Same thing applies in the flood. While I can't speak on their behalf, I feel it is safe to assume that they definately do not want the excess garbage that would come from the Halo 3 forum.

Doesn't mean the situation couldn't be changed, though. However, I'm almost certain that it would require severe moderating, which itself would cause public lashback that would rival the problem we've got right now.

Maybe you didn't see but I corrcted myself in my post saying big fixes are the same calibur as Ideas in my eyes,
Its just the "whats your favorite" threads that bug me, and all the other nonsense that people do just

what should be done though?

Giving ideas and bugfixes their own forum seems to be a unnecessary treatment,
And to watch them fade away seems to be a waste of intelligence
As for everyone else that enjoys the Halo 3 forums, are they going to be little kids because they can't have their original forum?

I am aware the same can be said about me, but an idea is like a diamound in the rough,
Small talk is like how to make a forum have more to talk about,
they really are two different things

Are you hinting at your thread where you were stating that Bungie's ideas on Halo 3's weapons were all wrong, and your ideas were 'flawless'? Not to cause a said flame war, but just though I should ask. If it is, than I have a couple suggestions that would help keep your threads civil.

The Halo 3 forum is, for the most part, being used for what it was created for; the discussion of Halo 3 and everything about it. Many decent threads will go unseen or float away after a few pages. This is what happens in a community so large.

Nah, I found it to happen in many other threads also,
My thread was deleted, If I wanted to tiptoe around the flaming beast I would have just said "sorry guys, I just thought it was a good idea"

But I don't want to tiptoe around people that are just inconsiderate, I would rather watch them throw themselves at me like i was an idiot.
I want bungie to know there are serious problems with this community,
-Not like there are no good ideas, because every idea has a place in the grand scheme of things
-Even mine could have been a long term goal for like halo 6

But there is a serious problem with the members of this community, I only said "I know my idea was good" And i don't even think people read the whole post and were saying "STFU n00b"

This is the problem

I am just annoyed of the people who think Bungie is a dictatorship and our feedback, constructive criticism, and suggestions all fall under the the "whining and -blam!-ing" category. I hate when ignorant users of the fact that these forums were created for thing other than "lol I heart bungie" and "rate teh armor abovez u" threads and that one of their main purposes are for player feedback it being positive or negative.

It seems I agree with you.

Well, you're right about the problem with the community, but I feel it will revert to it's old not as crappy state when all the people that joined just for Halo 3 become less frequent visitors to the site. Untill then I guess we just have wait it out, and deal with the immature posters as they come.

but there is a clear difference between,

"Bungie Reconz Pweez"

And

"Idea for Shotgun and Mauler Balancing"

I think we can agree, the later is more important.
And I made this thread hoping to attract Bungies Attention to the serious Problem of potentially good ideas wasted, or only kept afloat by Flames

If you didn't see my "weapons Organization" post (it was deleted so its too late now), I pretty much used every flamer as a way to keep my post afloat and let bungie see it, which I am not proud of, but nonetheless will be the only way for my ideas to be seen since this community does not critique ideas like a normal human being should but rather looks to censor all ideas that are not bungies

I am asking for mods to move all the small talk to flood or at least create a development Forum so that people serious about ideas and Making Halo everything it can be can post there. I'm tired of Flaming, I'm tired of ignorance

I want ideas to be heard, and If the ideas are not quite up to standard, I want it to be corrected and seen for what potential it had instead of throwing everthing out the window.

Ideas are golden!

It can get you a seat at that table where they offer ideas, tear them apart, rebuild them, discard them, and recycle them (all while waiting for Skip to bring the damned donuts).

As to Democracy? No, the community is not that. We are anarchy, with a benevolent dictator acting as host, who allows us to act as we will, unless and until things get out of hand.

If this mob could run itself (what a laugh), even then it would have no rights and no privileges to anything within Bungie, their games, their processes and their business. But since this community is incapable of respecting its fellow members (in either direction it appears, just look at your "intelligent people made your game, this government..." and tell me that doesn't sound snobbish and judgmental), it certainly doesn't get to self-rule when it comes to these forums.

Lol, I may be snobish, but I don't want to be
-The only reason why I do think I'm better is because I don't "need" to be a jerk, I just become one when necessary, but what I like to be is just a kid with an ideas, most of them probably need work.
-I'm not necessarilly smart, perhaps the ones that call everyone n00bs truely are the 1337s but decide to be such flamers to everyone they never develop their inner creative genius, but i know the difference between a flamer and a person looking for change

It's clear why I cut and pasted parts of what you said,
-Destroy rebuild it, whats to say that the fans can't do that also, that the Bungie team would see if a idea is good or not and scrap it. There is an awesome quote that was in a bungie update "We are not stupid ya know."

If we can't handle watching our idea get scrapped, its because we put far too much emotion into it. We should not care, as a part of the community we should be willing to watch ideas die, but remember them if ever the chance comes up that it can actually be used.

There comes a point where anarchy becomes hurtfull, and when that starts to happen thats when people stop getting creative.

The last part, we have no rights to any of our ideas, none of them are patented,
Bungie has a choice right now between making this game a work of art made by the people but give Bungie money or Bungie can remain the "benevolent dictator"

Theres other Benevolent dictators, they just don't seem as accessible, as human as bungie. Bungie seems like a group of guys that made it big, every other company is just a corperate made game that uses a team of 1337 game developers and thats it.

The people are never involved, I've tried going to college, flunked out
I've tried learning Computer Programming on my own. I bought books, online tutorials, Didn't work out

At least I know that My ideas won't go to waste, because besides me being fodder for the army or being the construction worker that works on your house. I am squat except my ideas, they're all i have left.
My ideas, My thoughts, And my brute strength is all i have left.

I'm sure you won't regret allowing the community at least feel like they're opinion might be looked at, like its own forum.
You guys can pick and choose, its all patent free. While we try and perfect the ideas that are created or you perfect them.

I'm sure you won't regret it

One more thing

This was in Miguel's interview

What would you like to see the community do for the Seventh Column?

Keep it alive and "foster growth by using the tools given" and "actively soliciting more and more members to join". Once the Bungie Store opens, buy the Seventh Column shirts and wear it to school, work, and church functions. Spread the word! Only you can limit the number of folks that will get slingshot into space!

I personally think more users would play halo if they knew there was more company<->player interaction
I know your a mod, and most people will side with you,
And this thread will one day probably die, if not killed

But I will say this, An Idea for additions to halo may not come across at first as a good idea, but none the less can be made into one.
We are a community, if you want us to be fanboys, then your asking for a nintendo type fanclub

If you want us to be americans, at least give us a peaceful place to post Ideas

I know I quoted you out of context, I just wanted you to see the value in what you said.

What you said is bungie scraps, changes and creates ideas

Whos to say our crappy "I want a gundam in halo 3" Ideas would be scrapped or changed into a more appropiate vehicle?

I'm not trying to offend you, I was showing you how that post itself said why a player community can also interact just like Bungie
