The bigger man would admit he was wrong and then drop it, like Red Slug did. You did tell him what he should buy.

AMD seems to be pretty good in performance for the price. You should check out newegg.com. They have really good prices and I got my video card there for about $130.
And the fact remains your card is still horrible and yet you're still trying to defend yourself because we all called you out on it. Get over it.

AMD Phenom 9500 (2.2GHz) Quad-Core
4 GB PC2 6400 Ram
(Temp) XFX GeForce 8400GS (512MB)
32" LCD HDTV running at 1366x768
HITACHI 160GB & Western Digital 500GB SATA II HDD

i merely mentioned that AMD is cheaper and the NewEgg has good prices.

Who is we?

Then again I could wait and get the 3870, or the 8800GT. But the 8800GT will force me to buy a new power supply, which I do not want to do.

Is buying a soundcard worth the money?

For someone who has plenty of money to spare, a sound card is worth the money. You are on a tight budget, though, so I suggest not buying a sound card. Dedicated sound cards are nice, but not necessary.

Let there be CHAOS!

I am currently downloading the demo, but I have looked at the specs and it seems that my computer is very close to the recommended settings for Crysis. Here are my specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (2.0 GHz)
2 GB PC3200 RAM
Dual 17" Samsung Monitors
ATI Radeon X1600 Pro (512 MB (128 Bit, DDR2, 780 MHz), 12 Pixel Pipelines, AGP 8X)
120 GB HDD

Doesn't seem to outdated to me.

Just so you know, my PC's specs are very close to your's. the only difference is I have a Core 2 Duo e4300 1.8ghz. Crysis runs like crap even with everything on low. Trust me, that system is horrible for nextgen gaming.

EDIT: Btw I just finished reading this thread. You guys need to calm down. Damn lol.

If you have very good speakers at the moment (subwoofer espiecally) then a soundcard is a pretty good add on. This is all from what I've read/heard though.

My current specs:
CPU: Core 2 Duo e4300 running at 1.8ghz
Graphics card: Geforce 8500 GT (it says 512MB in dxdiag, but I could have sworn I bought a 256MB model...)
1022 (1 gig) Corsair Ram.
Windows XP home edition running on service pack 2.

Yes, I know, it's pretty damn bad. But for the games I'm currently running, the system's performance is good enough. Counter Strike: Source, full everything and running smooth as butter. Half Life 2 (Ep 1 and 2), also running pretty smooth. Stuttered a few times on Ep 2, but that was the rare occasion. Battlefield 2142, full settings (except for lighting), AA x2, and such running pretty nice. Only stutters when I enter a Titan, but still playable/enjoyable frames.
I'm not going to be playing any new games on this rig, but I'm glad for what I have. I enjoy my gaming (online and offline) as much as I possibly can, no matter how old the game is. Just my view into this whole ordeal, the rig/game doesn't matter: It's the gamer and the gamer's taste that matters.

The guy just decided to be an -blam!-. He had nothing better to do than -blam!- about other people's rigs.

Get over yourself. You're the one who came back here and is starting trouble again. Take your self-esteem issues to some other place and wallow in your defeat.

Some graphics cards are allowed memory from the system, hence giving the appearance that you have more video memory than what's listed. My 7600GT is a 256MB card, but dxdiag says it has 1016MB of total memory. I have no idea how that really affects performance.

I doubt I'll be playing too many new games even after I upgrade, I'm not too sure about Crysis now that Far Cry 2 is around the corner, but UT3 and CoD4 seem like good buys.
