In halo 1 ( in third person view ) when you switched to a pistol, where does your machine gun or plasma gun go ? I think in halo 2 you should have side holsters for your hand guns and maybe have your plasma sword attach to your back (blade style , the movie for you pee ons). I just think it would add to the feel that you could see the weapons you have picked up.

Good idea!
You could spy on people and check what weapons they have, so you can be more tactical.

the MC in the books has like a clamp think on his legs so he could hold wepons..i dont really care about seeing the guns as much as i am the damage models on the Mjolnir and my wish of being able to beat enemies to a bloody pulp and seeing the blood on yourself ^-^

in the books the shotgun had a strap (maybe it was the MA5B, but whatever) so he could fling it over his shoulder while he used the other gun.

ye it would be cool and more realistic. if someone hit a holsted rocket launcher whilst not in use would the rockets go off? that'd be strategic

Zam that is a good call as well. Also say while you were shooting MC in multiplay maybe we could see some oxygen spraying out or something ?

I wouldnt mind seeing better animations for how you change weapons, similar to the animations on Rainbow Six 3. The use of slings would bring a little more of a authentic look to the game. I know this is a small feature in a large game, but sometimes the small features make all the difference.

Is it me or do the sword-wielding elites have the ability to activate the swords from a handle(which also glows more)?
Though in the Multiplayer Vids they always stood activated.

I wouldn't mind, but it might actually take a little bit away from the game also. There's nothing like having some unsuspecting sap with a shotgun start running at you, while you sit back and pull out your rocket launcher just before he gets close enough. I personally wouldn't mind being able to see that my enemy has a sword on his back before I charge in with my SMG.

I think having guns on the back or legs of the MC would just make him look cluttered. I don't care if its not realistic, I just think it looks cleaner, plus you don't have to worry about where it goes when u get in a warthog and such.

I do think it would be neat to see your other gun slung across your back, but I know I would miss using the classic line, "Oh, you didn't know I had that shotgun, did ya?" at LANs. That line always seems to get to people.

i'd at LEAST like to see grenades on his belt. i mean in Halo 1 you see plasma grenades on the elites (i think) if you get close enough so why not spartans?

Yeah you could see the grenades. But hey, what if when you pick up a medkit, you can see your character treating himself.

the animation would be so long it wouldn't be practical in the game. a nice idea though

i dont know about treating himself, cuz it would make you that much more vulnerable. Maybe instead of the flash on the screen it can show your sheilds being zapped like in the very beginning of halo 1

I think in the book (and maybe game never looked) he has a little belt right below his stamoch for holding weapons.

  • 06.10.2004 1:33 PM PDT

My thumbsticks will be your Doom.... sorry 'bout that.
My Stats

Okay the medkit/treating yourself is going a little too far and at one point when I thought of this a long time ago I agreed with Lotec, i want my MC clean and uncomplicated. But after I see what kind of realism Bungie's going for, i gotta say "showing your other weapons would be cool!".

You already got dual-wielding, why not show the shottie clipped to the leg? Or the Sniper riffle or Launcher slung over the back? The sword thing would be a little wierd, i still say the blade should emanate from the handle when activated that way he'd just have the hilt clipped to his belt (next to his grenades). But there still would be glitchy animations. For instance; having a Chief holding 8 nades would be a bit much so you'd have him done up with 4 with it simply switching to whichever type is equipped.

The more I think about it the cooler it would be strategy wise. If you just got fragged and the 'after-life' camera shows your enemy carrying a Needler and a Launcher on his back you could tell your team mates over XBL to watch out for him (for obvious reasons).

I dunno about the rockets your carrying going off when hit cause they don't when lying on the ground however plasma grenades....

why have the hilt (the size of a marker) on your back? wouldnt be easier on the thigh or chest?
