i think the X-box is better, but the isn't crap, the Gamecube is
Oh -blam!- off. The Gamecube ain't crap! Besides, X-Play beat up each of the systems with sledghammers and the Gamecube was the only one still working. Ahh... I loved that episode... And the PS2 was the first not to work! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, well there was a confirmed incident of a college roomate shooting his other roomate's xbox with a pistol. The xbox still functioned perfectly.
As for the PS2, anyone who isnt a PS2 fanboy knows that sony is the antonym of quality. In fact there have been many an accusation that Sony purposely made the PS2 easily destructible (coughhackdiskreaderrorcoughhack) so that system owners would have to shell out another (then) $300 for a new PS2. The PSX (by PSX I mean the PS1 model 1, not the first remake of the PS2 that had TiVo abilities that was released only in Japan) also had many quality problems. And most recently my PS2 mem card was reformatted spountansly thanks to Sony's Holiday Disc '04, which (for those who dont know) reformats your mem card when you play the Viewtiful Joe 2 demo on it. Of course by the time Sony acknowledged this it was too late for me. So thanks to Sony's lack of QA testing on their products I got royally screwed. This "quality" is the reason Im not buying a PSP (at least not for 1-2 years after its release, when sony will have fixed the inevitable disc read error that their systems seem to constantly have). Also, when it comes to quality Nintendo is at the top. Tell me, when was the last time you saw a complaint that the GC had a disc read error? Of course, theres always my personal experience where I dropped by GBC about 20 feet (i was climbing a tree with my GBC in my pocket. hey stop that laughing! I was like 12 or 13) onto some granite rocks below. Amazingly it still worked, and with only a tiny scratch on the screen. When it comes to MS (well at least with the xbox. dont get me started on windows) theyve got pretty good quality too. I was actully pretty surprised at their quality considering how new to the console gaming scene they are (which actully isnt true I suppose since they released two 8-bit consoles in Japan in the late 80's). But to summerize, yes, if the word SONY is on the product, make damn sure it has a good warranty.
Hmm...Sony seems an awful lot like Ford. I wonder if one company owns the other, by chance?
I agree with you. Nintendo stuff is dang near indestructible. I left my GBC on the ground outside my sleeping bag during a scout campout once. It got way cold that night. Like, below zero (we were fine because we were under concrete insulating blankets). The next day it worked perfectly. I also accidentally dropped it in a wading pool once. It worked again after a day or so.
My favorite Nintendo punishment test is the one where the EGM staff flushed a GBA in a toilet (they took pictures and everything) and it worked a few days later.
I may not like Nintendo all that much, but I'll give them the respect they deserve for making high-quality hardware that is virtually indestructible.
