I have Halo 2 on my old PC, and I am wishing to move it to my new PC. They both have Vista and I tried to install it while my old computer still had it, but it said "You have exceeded the maximum number of times to activate." Or something, can I move my activation to another computer?

You gotta love the ways Microsoft fights piracy.

I imagine your problem is that it's still installed on your old computer. Uninstall it and then try to install it on your new computer.

I did, and it still says it, I called to activate by phone, and he says it can't be activated again, that is $50 dollars down the drain.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

This doesn't surprise me one bit. I would call back and explain the situation and try again with someone else. If you can, try to get an older person to help you like a parent maybe?

I just went through the same thing with my copy of Vista, and frankly it was not easy to even get someone on the phone.

Another thing is to never ever ever again buy a Microsoft game. You'd think they would have a smart system like Steam where games are linked to an account at least, but nah.

You know the funny this is that this whole forum is Microsoft owned and most likely the only reason you have an account here is because you own Halo 1, 2 or 3 (Which, by the way, is MICROSOFT owned).

This forum was never "owned" by Microsoft even when Bungie was under contract with them.

Call again and strongly suggest that it wouldn't be good for them to publicly deny a valid customer his right to a product, especially if he created a few threads around the Internet about it, possibly even getting it dug a few hundred times at digg.com...

I seem to remember a thread from a while back that had a fix for this exact problem. Can't remember what it's called, nor will I attempt to find it for you.

Then why is it that the domain name (Bungie.net) is registered under Microsoft? Check it out: http://who.godaddy.com/WhoIsVerify.aspx?domain=bungie.net& ;prog_id=godaddy

Also check out several news articles stating that Microsoft BOUGHT Bungie:

Scroll down to the bottom of this forum and tell me what the copyright says.

Next, stop believing what the media spoon feeds you, especially something as unreliable as "Internet news."

Bungie was under contract with Microsoft. You would know this if you bothered to read an update shortly after Halo 3's release that talked about Microsoft releasing the vice grip they had on Bungie.

Yes, I am a proud owner of Halo PC, the only Halo game actually created by the pre-Microsoft Bungie employees.

It appears you didn't read a single one of those. Microsoft is letting Bungie act alone and make their own decisions (I.E. act as there own company) Most often when this happens on their websites and media they say "Copyright (Insert Department Name Here)"

Next question, Where, perhaps did you get the information about Bungie seperating from Microsoft? Internet News? TV News? Next, Microsoft Still owns the rights to Halo. So either way you own something that was provided due to Bungie being Owned by Microsoft.

All this is still besides the fact that MICROSOFT owns the Bungie.net domain name/web address. Don't believe me? Check out these Domain name WhoIs DB's:
