The good point? We all get to choose where we want to live.
Good point, yes we do get to choose. Just as we get to choose which things we spend our money on.
And the police wear uniforms and drive incredibly hard to miss cars.... I don't see the point.
Actually, that is exactly the point. It is what's wrong with most forums today. Moderators view themselves as "the police of the forum". The majority of police men have the same power trip issue and many let it go to their heads outside of the job itself even. The difference is police men do need to put themselves in harms way at times and they are taught to act dominating to gain control over people and situations when necessary.
I realize that moderators have a tough time keeping up with so many posts. I moderated a car enthusiast forum once a few years ago, and it is not a "job" I would ever want to do again. It's very hard to please everyone all of the time and I get that. Still, our forum was not in the business of promoting a particular product, much less a franchise such as Halo. This forum is for that purpose and I think that people at Bungie forget that at times.
Would a simple message or even a reply in the thread saying that the title was changed to comply with forum rules been that hard to do? If it was done again then by all means lock the thread and/or ban the person. This is my point.
Also, there is a simple solution to the map submission section. If Bungie organized the forums a little better the problem would be much smaller. People feel they need to "bump" or "advertise" their maps to get noticed. The problem on that thread list is obvious. There are millions of people who play Halo and thousands who come to this site to get player custom maps. If you post one it is often moved to the 6th page within minutes and no one sees it.
Why not separate the different maps into separate thread listings? Or even do types of maps, or something to lessen the posts on the one page. This way people can look for the ones they want and things won't move so fast. People won't feel the need to bump all the time.
