You've got to be kidding me. the needler? A Cheap weapon? ::falls over laughing:: it's pretty solid if you've got the lead over someone, as you can fill them full of needles and even after you die, you get the kill, but I don't see anything 'cheap' about it.
The Plasma Pistol cheap? Not really. Pretty accurate, but it over heats after seven or so quick shots. The Over Charge does not hurt health that much, and then it has to cool for a few seconds anyhow. The Plasma Pistol was designed to counter-balance the Over Shield.
The Assault Rifle? Blah. Not cheap by any stretch. It has to be mid to close range to hit anything consistantly. Sometimes a descent weapon for knocking someone out of 'zoom' mode, but not really 'cheap.'
The shotgun. Again, not cheap. You have to be point blank to kill something in one shot, and even then there's a small chance taht they'll manage to dodge enough of the buckshot to remain standing. Solid weapon in close-quarters though. Good for levels like The Longest and such, but it's not really cheap, becasue once you get out of short range it can't hit with much accuracy at all. Again, at extreme ranges can knock someone out of 'zoom' mode without having to aim in exactly.
The plasma rifle. This might be considered a little 'cheap' but not really. This is a Close quarters gun like the shot gun. It has the ability to preactically freeze an enemy in place, but you have to hit them consistantly, and to do that you have to be pretty close. shorter range than the Plasma pistol, over heats quite quickly, and as frustrating as being 'frozen' is, I still wouldn't say it's a cheap gun.
The Sniper Rifle. You have to have pretty good aiming skills to use this in moveing close combat, because unlike the toher weapons this is a pin-point accurate weapon with very little shot drift. At long and extreme ranges it is much more useful as long as you see your enemy before he sees you. One or two hit kills, not really cheap because it takes a while to learn to aim it well at the closer ranges.
The Rocket Launcher. This weapons is just mean. Shoot it at the ground near an opponent at short to medium range and he's dead. Period. Just don't get killed yourself. At long and extreme ranges it's only good if the opponent does not see it coming. If a sniper is zoomed in on someone and you fire a Rocket at them they're dead. EXCELLENT anti-vehcile as it was intended. Cheap? not really. carries two shots per clip and reloads slower tahn any other gun, not to mention the Melee attack is incredibly slow as well.
The Pistol. I dunno, if there is a cheap gun it is this one. The shot drift is just enough, and not too much, to make head capping at any range (except maybe extreme) pretty easy. Three shots in the head from this gun, you die. Heck, two shots to the body, on in the head, you die, and are left on the ground wodnering where the heck that came from. And unlike the sniper rifle, no trail is left that your buddies can know which direction to take cover. Still, I guess it takes a bit of skill to learn to use. I think my opinion may be a bit biased since I went to a HALO tourny and got murdered by this weapon, mostly because I didn't know just how powerful it is. After that I've practiced with it like a week and significantly improved (I think.) Seems rather easy to learn, and easy to use, not that it is partcularly bad, but it reloads fast, has a descent melee attack, and has a twelve round magazine, and only take three to five shots to kill someone at long to point-blank range. All things considered, the Pistol is the most lethal weapon in HALO, wether or not it is 'cheap' I leave up to you.
