If you die once you have the skull in your mitts all you have to do is keep killing yourself until you go back one checkpoint. Grenades into the room that the skull spawns in works nicely. If you are out of grenades you should still have non-arena elites and grunts to kill you. You have to die 4-5 times in a row before the checkpoint kickback comes. Once it does, the skull is respawned and you can go get it again. The best thing that can happen to you is to be able to get the skull, survive the first wave or two and get a checkpoint. Once you have that first checkpoint against the silver Elites, when you die (which you will, over and over and over and over and over and over and over) you just go back to that checkpoint and are still in the arena to get the skull, not having to grab it again and start over. Kill 7 waves (it's a BIT**) and you get the skull. I have found that running and gunning are suicide for the most part. Once you are down to a stationary elite over by the magnums and frags, you can use a sword to build up your defensive position and then pick them off from some safety. You have to be VERY PATIENT going for this skull. These elites tend to move alot when there are more than 2-3, but get down to the last one in a wave and he will typically stop moving. I always manage to get one with a beam rifle who nails me while I am gathering ammo or trying to find him.

You need Sputnik, it really helps moving things around for fort building. I have done it with and without Envy, but it was easier with it. If you have Black Eye or the Armory skull, forget it you are screwed.

If you want some tips, let me know, I will fill you in on how I got it. Second time was ALOT easier than the first. (few hours versus few days, LOL)

Campiagn Kill Count :31,745. And growing.

The Revisionaries- One of the greatest screenshot groups on B.net. With 250 members and growing.

There's a video on youtube where someone gathered all the marines in the parts after it and put them in a spot where they couldn't leave, and when IWHBYD came on he had about 8 marines to help him out.

Type saving the marines part 1 and 2, or something like that.

I prefer the Active camo cheat included by Bungie. Makes this job a lot easier.

Well, a guy showed some over at HIH, and he had permanent active camo going. The hex showed "active_camo_cheat_on". It happens when you're the Master Chief and you have Active Camo (from the Envy skull) activated through a checkpoint. Save and quit after the checkpoint, reboot the xbox and play. You'll have permanent camo for the level. Makes finding skulls as Master Chief a lot easier.. makes Legendary a lot easier.

Now, on IWHBYD, when you have the active camo permanently and you have the unnamed Armory skull activated, the Elites see you, talk trash to you, but don't shoot you. They look at you a lot, and they follow your silhouette/shadow - they follow you. It can be a pain to deal with when they have swords and there's 7 of them running around after you.

However, if you're on the last wave, and there's only 1 Elite left wielding a sword, and you lose the camo since you picked up Envy before going for the skull, and you were using a save with permanent camo, the Elite might not see you at all. I haven't tried to repeat to make sure it holds true, but on the 5th wave I've lost the camo and tried to go through the wave. The ones with scoped weapons saw me right away.
