My Tag...and Profile has developed a permanent Crouch...have been through all the settings...Re-loaded Halo, still the problem persists! Anybody out there got any ideas how I solve this. I'm not keen on deleting the Profile, is that the only way to resolve the problem ?

I don't think I, nor anybody else, has any idea what you're talking about. Try re-installing Halo.

If you're using anything but a keyboard/mouse, then I know. See, I used to use a logitech controller (very nice one too), and it occasionally developed permacrouch, perma-turn, etc. You have to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them. If you're like me, you'll just convert to mouse/board and drop the controller.

That is assuming that you do use a controller. If not, then I'd reinstall, but backup save game files.

Sexy legs...tah..think U'r on the money there. Fortunately, I've got Halo installed on two machines, copied the Profile folder from the other machine, which doesn't like Halo at the moment...and hey presto...back to normal..Ossian walks tal again. So anybody reading this...go to My Ganes folder and back up your profiles and saves games...especially if you use a controller.

Do wish people would stay quiet unless they have something valuable of useful to contribute..or do they just want to show of their machine spec? Skippy!

Heyyo,

Actually, I had no idea for a second either. I thought you were using a keyboard, and your ctrl button was stuck down. :p

For gamepad, which are you using? Have you tried binding crouch to another key? and yeah, could be faulty drivers. usually ones supplied by M$ windows update work fine, so you could try those....

Sorry, Assumptions aside, I kept my querie general, not really wanting to give a line by line description of my prefered setup...I use a mix of controller and Keyboard...though I have recently discovered a cable adapter which will allow me to use an X-Box controller via USB on the PC, I'll let you know how that goes.
I'm currently using a Logic 3 pad which is restictive in the number of buttons provided, though it is better than the SideWinder Game Pad....which seemed like a good idea..anybody want one?

Anyway, the Crouch function in my case is via keyboard..don't ask, just is, I like it that way.
Probems solved...old skool ethics shine thru again...backup everything and sure U'll have a quick fix to try first. Thanks for the feed back, great to know somebody out there cares and can help.....I'll see if I can find a real doozie and get y'all on yer toes.

Once and this once only.....Win2000 PIII 1Gb, 1024mb (Good o'l 133DDR), NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (128mb) Creative 128 sound blaster, all hanging off A QDI Legend Mainboard...(not surprisingly, after happily running Halo for almost a year it's gone one the huff)..and due for an upgrade .
XP4evo Barebone, Win2000, 2.66Gb Celeron, 512mb 400DDR, ATI Radeon Series 9200 PCI graphics, apart from a couple of minor niggles wi the graphics, this system loves Halo.
Toshiba Equium Laptop, XPSP2, 3.2Gb P4, 512mb, ATI Radeon 7000 IGP (64mb)...runs Halo beautifly, but the screen can let the side down sometimes getting the shadows light enough at the edges can be a chore.....
