well, they probably have people set up for certain Forums. 1-2 for each. wouldn't be that hard.

Hello :)

They don't go into individuals profiles to look at their material. They take material that has been posted on the forums or that is very popular, or at least I think...

To KRYPT KEEPER187 - ok so your saying that for each forum they have 1-2 people. ok then lets say for example there are 4 forums that deal directly with halo 3. your saying that with 2 people on each one, that should be enough to monitor those 1.5 million people that preordered this game alone, not to mention the ones who just went out and bought it. lets see 8 moderators for over 2 million people.....seems pretty fair & logical

find time to look at peoples profiles and find material worthy of certain "perks." On the outside, what sets player 1's profile apart from player 2's? Could it be something as little as a persons gamertag that would sway certain viewers to their page? Do they search for certain things, or just randomly scan through the forums? If anybody has anything logical and on topic to say, please feel free to as I am curious and have no idea myself.

p.s. - any insight from people on the "inside" would be greatly appreciated. by inside i mean any employees of Bungie or even people who have gotten their work recognized by Bungie.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Like most advances a person makes in his or her life, being noticed and "Favorit'd" or "Recon'd" by Bungie is a combination of luck and skill. Therefore, Player A's screenshot may not necessarily be as dramatic or awe-inspiring as Player B's, but Player A happened to post at the time when Bungie employees were randomly sifting through threads looking for potential Bungie Favorites.

I think that once one knows this , the rest is relatively easy to sort out.

thanks for the insight man. keep the ideas coming as im sure there are more people out there who have the same question as me and would like it to be officially or "unofficially" answered

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

I guess they do random checks.... maybe people send them in.

what would they check for though? would they type in the search box, "0mg i kill3d my53lf w1th a m0gOose," seeing as thats how annoying people are in some of these forums, and use the infamous number/word combo for every damn thing haha

I get more ass than a toilet seat.

Personally, to me, it seems like they just pick the top item on the forum because some of the time i have no idea how something got onto bungie favorites.

Thou shall dare try to find the ways of Bungie?
Peace my good soul, peace.
Their methods are ones in which no regular mortal needs to know.

Put it this way.

Sometimes, at the precise moment I put a screenshot into my fileshare, I will look at my computer. IMMEDIATELY, it shows 6 people have downloaded it. This has happened a few times. Some pics in which nobody has rated OR downloaded in WEEKS will suddenly get 6 more downloads.

I bet you those 6 downloads aren't regular B.net members. No way. WAY too coincidental.

One of my pictures has over 100 downloads, and that's before I put it in the forums.

Edit: Oddly enough it's a picture of the Recon Armor.

Perks? How come I'm not getting any of these perks? :(

Anyway, the 'better' people (yeah, I use this term better very loosely) stand out more than other members. Even if the community is made of so many millions of people, you can still stand out after awhile. Still, I wouldn't even say I stand out that much. It takes many many years. People like Shishka, for example, have earned their reputation/renown/disgust. (He treasures the last one dearly)

If you're talking about member titles, that's almost entirely automated by a system based on your behavior. (Amount of blacklists + Joining date + a few other things)

No. I mean, I got 6 downloads almost the same second the pic was put in my share, than nothing after that. This happened a few times. What are the odds 6 people were looking at my share and downloaded that pic (and nothing else) at the same time.

Come on. It MUST have been Bungie...

  • 12.28.2007 11:43 AM PDT

Does downloading it off someone's file share in the game count as a download? If so then that might be the case.

To Aznb01p - i can agree with you that on some occasions, i to have seen things on Bungie Favorites that are really not that amazing, & i am not saying that anything of yours or mine is better/worse but you can see where im going with this. again it goes back to the opening question that i posed. what makes one persons post more appealing to somebody than another persons. if i post Best Snipe Ever and i get 30 downloads, 10 ratings, & 6 comments, then you post, Best Snipe Ever, and get more or less, i dont understand how people can distinguish just by looking at the title of the thread which one to click on and view.

To A Deaf Boy - i can also agree with you that i can have something in my file share that i put up, then instanteneously, there are like 6-10 downloads but no comments/ratings. this has happened to me on more than 1 occasion & mayb, just mayb this could be one of the ways that Bungie goes about deciding certain things, but we will never know.

Finally......

To Coffey4780 - i also have a picture which is also my trophy shot, of recon armor. go to my service record to see it, along with a few other saved pics i have in my gallery. i published all these to the forums about a week & a half ago, and the one with the most downloads, around 22 or so was the recon armor one, here is the title i used for the thread for that pic BEST Shot Of Recon Sniper With Flaming Helment EVER, im not being cocky either i do feel it is one of the better pictures of recon out there. i do not have recon and unlike those who are/were awarded it, i dont just go and take like 30 pics of it and put them all in my file share to show them off. i actually downloaded a recent Bungie game & took that shot from within the game & that was the 1st & last pic of recon i will ever take because im not a "recon whore" if you will haha

Im goin on my lunch break now & ill be gonna for the next hour, ill be back though so feel free to keep posting. See ya soon.
