Whenever i play halo pc on multiplayer it will crash and automatically restart my computer. This only happens on multiplayer cause i just bought the game and i have been playing the crap out of the single player and no problems. Anyone have any info on what to do?

It's not your system, it's the patch. I've learned much from these forums, and one is that the new patches for halo have progressively f**ked the multiplayer up. See, back in v1.0, my multi never crashed either. However, every few games it does now. You'll learn to deal with it - many people do.

Heyyo,

Well, sometimes it can be caused by overheating. My HL2 used to die all the time... then I opened my case and noticed only 1 side of my CPU heatsink & Fan clip was still in place... So check that to be sure, AMD cpu's tend to overheat if you don't have your heatsink/fan properly in place. :p

In general, the new patch is pretty ghey and seems to crash more than previous patches, so yeah, you might just have to deal with it.... The newest patch apparently fixes a multiplayer security exploit, but seems to be full of bugs, which's why the crashing tends to only occur in online games....

well last night i was playing the single player and it crashed too. So it might be the overheating. But the thing is i have Half Life 2 and never one problem like this one in halo. I mean i got program failures but never an instant restart with no warning.

well if you have a new nvidia card, it can't handle specular, so turn it off. nvidia is wroking on that problem, and a new driver will be out eventualy

JFunk,
1) Right click "My Computer" and select Properties
2) Click on the Advanced tab
3) Click the Settings button under the Startup and Recovery section
4) Under the System Failure section, unclick "Automatically Restart"

Now when you experience a crash you will see the cause of the error instead of your computer automatically rebooting. When you experience another crash, copy the information from the resulting BSoD and post it here. It may help folks determine what is going wrong. If the error seems to be random (meaning, different programs/modules show up as having caused the crash), then this very well could be an overheating issue, as suggested. Not that this rules out other problems, but judging from your previous posts I'd wager against this being overheating. If the BSoD shows a consistent culprit, then it could be any number of things relating to Halo. At least the error message may help the people here to nail things down for sure.
