There are two groups of people in the world - those that hope, and those that wish. The first group hopes that nothing bad will happen. The second group wishes that they are there when it does. Which one are you?

Now I know a Flamethrower is very unlikely to be in the game, and I've often thought that such a weapon would be entirely combat ineffective against the superior Covenant plasma aresenal, but I recently have begun to reconsider. The flamethrower could be implemented as a very effective weapon against the Flood, should earth be forced to deal with that little problem in Halo 2. If you think about it, the flood being a virulent parasitic organism of course, a flamethrower would be their worst enemy. Burning their forms and carriers would nutralize the virus, effectively stopping them dead in their tracks. What if MC got back to Earth and in preparing for a possible encounter with the flood, ONI decided it might be a good idea to combat their infection with Fire. The only problem I see with this is the fact that plasma is far hotter than liquid fuel fire, and from what I remember fighting the Flood with plasma weapons was tantamount to suicide.

On a final note, Guilty Spark 343 refers to the weapons MC was using to fight the Flood as Class 2, and suggests upgrading to at least Class 5. Now if MC can stop the Flood AND bring down a Covie armada with the "weak" class 2 hardware, then I sure as hell want to know what Sparky considers to be Class 5.

The flamethrower would make the shotgun useless in Halo 2's multiplayer (as well as the SMG). So I can't really see it showing up there. But, on the other hand it could be fairly useful in the campaign. Who knows, we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

just so you know, humans know how ti use plasma throwers, its just fireing unconcentrated plasma out of a barral. we can do that, plasma weapons like the coveys have is a diferent story. so a plasma thrower would work fine (even realy good against the grunts, who would expload with to much exposure to extream heat, think about it meathane and fire...)

A plasma thrower would be the next logical step I guess, though different than a flamethrower. It sure would be fun to hear what a Grunt would say when you exposed him to enough heat to make his methane breather explode.

I agree about the multiplayer, I hadn't considered that.

well if you think about it a flame/plasma thrower has to have the flame directed on a target for a short ammount of time before he actualy dies, where as a shotgun would just rip him apart in a couple (if not one) of shots. as for the SMG it still has a range advantage over the flame/plasma thrower and shotgun.
