Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

To each his own, I guess.

I'll take your game, though. I know a handful of people that can make it feel appreciated.

It was a runner-up. That means something. :)

Besides, you're talking to the wrong forum. The majority here love Halo 3.

Not to mention it got "Best Innovative Design". Oh, and "Best Online Multiplayer Game". (Two things which really bring players back for more. A game with bad multiplayer runs out of things to do after awhile. Halo 3 does not. Not yet, anyway.) Anyway, move over to the Halo 3 Forum. You're just trying to stir up trouble with very rude opinion.

Halo 3 is far from dead. In fact I can see that there are currently over a 130,000 online right now. Plus just because it didn't win game of the year doesn't make it a bad game. Heck it actually won two awards, one of which was Best Online Multiplayer.

Personally I think you have just come here to try to cause some trouble. You do realize you posted this in the wrong forum, and that you are on a Bungie fan/community website.

EDIT: Zag beat me to it.

Im a minority.

Anyway who cars about what IGN says is a good game? GOTY means nothing.

Halo3 cant be halo2 with better graphics because halo2 was fun and still is while halo3 is not.

  • 12.28.2007 8:11 AM PDT

IGN and most other commercial game publications/outlets know that awarding halo 8 awards is not going to gain readers. To be successful, they need to mention as many games as possible to try to appeal to the broadest demographic. Focusing on one game is not going to do that, so if you want any unbiased review you are going to have to go to a respectable group not trying to appeal to hardcore gamers that will only read about the games that they like, like Time Magazine or the New York Times, who have the sense not to sell out their reviews to get a few readers.

Amazing, it still manages to keep 300,000 people on at any given time..........Halo is more than just a FPS, its great to play with friends and offers more replayability, im not degrading CoD4, i have and i love it, but Halo will last, Call of Duty wont.

Any game that attracts 120,000 online players during the slowest part of the day is far from dead. COD4's a great game, but a Halo-killer it is not.

Sounds like someone is a ludite who cant handle a few gameplay changes. I bet you said the same thing about halo 2 and halo 1. But yes, pescimists like Thunderbolt are a slim minority. There are still hundreds of thousands of people actively playing online, and countless more who dont have xbox live, and just play campaign, system link, and customs. I would take this, more than anything else, as a sign that halo 3 is not going anywhere.

  • 12.28.2007 8:28 AM PDT

the CoD4 average is about 100 - 150 thousand i read somewhere (correct me if im wrong) and the Halo average is about 300,000.

I have some complaints about gameplay but nothing big. Halo3 is bad because the story, and envionment are bad. And it seems the fun was sucked out of the game. Ive gone over this and im sure with the halo3 fourms new "LOL WALL OF TEXT" craze that you dont want to read another 10,000 character post. But now that micorosoft has their game bungie might just start making good games again. marathon remake please?

Halo is the All Time Champ when it comes to longevity. People played H2 for FOUR Years!
Look you must understand that Most of us DON"T play Halo exclusively. Not even BUNGiE employees! There are soo many good games of all genres that you'd have to be a knuckle head to not try them.
Most people will play, even rave about this certain game, but when they beat the game,it sits on the shelf. Then what do they go to play? yup
HALO

  • 12.28.2007 8:31 AM PDT

Is it safe to say that just because a website or magazine says a certain game is better than the others, that you're willing to go as far as following that trend? Honestly, who cares what anyone else says, and just play the damn game.

  • 12.28.2007 8:31 AM PDT

As you can see, there is a strong majority who still plays Halo 3 for some very good reasons.
True it didn't win GOTY but that didn't stop it from being awarded "Best Multiplayer Game of the Year."
So Halo 3 is still popular, it's just that there are obviously a few people such as yourself that have apparently lost interest.
But I highly recommend that you do not go go advertising these thoughts in a forum nearly filled with people that like Halo 3.
I respect your opinion, but there are probably those who don't.

I personally think Halo 3 is one of the greatest online FPS games of all time and I'll continue to play it for years to come.

kinda funny a lot of people couldnt even play cod4 christmas day.
why do you ask. oh because they didnt have the server capacity to support everyone that got that -blam!- for christmas, and thats garbage. do you know how pissed i wouldve been if i couldnt have played that game live after getting it for christmas? shows how much support you'll get from IGN.
and dont say there more than 3 million people trying to play it. like on halo 3 release night. bungies servers could handle that load they were ready for it. i guarantee in 2 years people will still playing the hell outta halo 3, and they will be making a new COD just to keep up.

Anti-Halo was the fad for 2007. The critics were pooping on Halo months before its release. The online population for Halo 3 overshadows COD4 by a mile (I play both games by the way). I don't know whats worse. The new melee system in Halo 3 or camping 5 kills and racking up 10 more from noob airstrikes and helicopters. COD 4 will go the way of other COD games with regards to online. I think Shadowrun should have got online game of the year.

I really don't think Halo and Call of Duty are really competing with one another. They're too wildly different games. It just so happens that they're both incredibly awesome games, and this simple fact makes sense to anyone with half a brain.

If infinity ward had more people trying to play cod4 than they predicted wouldnt that be a good thing?
Of course bungie was prepared. microsoft hyped the game up its ass. People were going to buy it and play it just because it has halo in its name. 3 million people who played halo3 fueled by hype....
So what if they have to make cod5? They are continuing the story where it left off and improving some things. Sounds good to me. Bungie had to make halo3 to compete with newer games.
