I actually prefer COD4's multiplayer for one reason. There's meaning to your rank.
I love gaining new weapons and upgrades as I play, and even though I just started yesterday, I could compete with the guys with everything unlocked. The customization you can pull off isn't game breaking, but it allows you an advantage if you prefer to snipe, or go in guns blazing.
Adding customizations to your weapons is also very cool, you can put a silencer on your gun so you don't show up on radar, or you can put an upgraded sight on it.
Both multiplayers are awesome, and the only reason I bought either game, but for right now, COD4's customization (not to mention an already great multiplayer) pushed it past Halo for me.
Oh, and ghilly suits=Awesome
