He check out IGN's game of the year & First-Person Shooter of the year.

http://bestof.ign.com/2007/xbox360/24.html

Just goes to show you that the lack of depth in this years Halo 3 is startin to show its true colors. It basically Halo 2 but with better graphics. It's funny to see the amount of players online to begin with over 3 million people plumet to 45,000. I know I myself have referred Call of Duty 4 to at least 10 people that would have bought Halo 3. Sorry bungie but Halo is dead.

Is anybody interested in my Halo 3? I will sell it for free!

First off. they tell you how to create links in the screen to post. So stop being so lazy. Also, 45,000 is less than half of the players I saw online last night in Social Slayer alone. So I'm not sure where you are getting these figures from but maybe you should do a little more research before you put a stupid post like this up. I have also played CoD4 and there are some cool things about it but what about when the host decides he wants to drop and then every body is screwed? Woopy that you can upgrade your guy. Just because you can get to lvl 55 in CoD doesnt even mean you are good at the game. So stop complaining. At least in Halo you have to have skill to get your lvl up.

Also, last time I check H3 was still the most played Xbox Live game. Next on the list was CoD4...

Halo is the All Time Champ when it comes to longevity. People played H2 for FOUR Years!
Look you must understand that Most of us DON"T play Halo exclusively. Not even BUNGiE employees! There are soo many good games of all genres that you'd have to be a knuckle head to not try them.
Most people will play, even rave about this certain game, but when they beat the game,it sits on the shelf. Then what do they go to play? yup
HALO

this is exactly what happened to me, mass effect and assassins creed, then back to halo

How about from bungies home page?

Its easy to get 50 or any high rank in halo3. All you have to do is keep playing. Unless of course you play and win 25 games and never go up a rank...
Both cod4 and halo3s ranking system are bad. "True skill" and "Your special have a star" both are frustratingsystems.

  • 12.28.2007 8:48 AM PDT

CoD4 was fun until I beat it. Multiplayer was extremely weak. The only fun thing about multiplayer was the ranking system. Other than that, there is absolutely nothing about it that would bring me back to it. (With Halo, I don't care about rank. It's just fun to play.)

I'm not a Fanboy, but I really can't see how CoD4 is praised by so many people as some great game. Sure, the Campaign was cool, and Arcade mode was even better....... for a couple days.

Halo just has something about it that makes it better. Probably the customization and endless possibilities through forge. You don't really have to play shooter games with Halo anymore. You can drive/race, play basketball, football, soccer, dodgeball, rocket-race, slayer, CTF, etc...........

Really, Halo is a bunch of games only limited by your creativity. That's why it's better.

Once your good at Call of duty 4 imo it's better than Halo, but Halo can do funny things that CoD4 can't, i've had so many good memories with Halo 3, but I love CoD4.

The idea that an award is equated to popularity is hilarious.
Especially a vague award like "game of the year". It doesn't even MEAN anything.
People are absolutely entitled to their own opinion, but let me sum it up this way.
When you wathc the Grammys or the Oscars, ask yourself if the most nominated - or winningest actor/musician/movie/album was the most POPULAR.

I can already answer that question.

  • 12.28.2007 8:55 AM PDT

I think COD4's campaign kicks the goat snot out of Halo 3's, but Halo wins the multi-player hands down. Can't there be room for both games?

kinda funny a lot of people couldnt even play cod4 christmas day.
why do you ask. oh because they didnt have the server capacity to support everyone that got that -blam!- for christmas, and thats garbage. do you know how pissed i wouldve been if i couldnt have played that game live after getting it for christmas? shows how much support you'll get from IGN.
and dont say there more than 3 million people trying to play it. like on halo 3 release night. bungies servers could handle that load they were ready for it. i guarantee in 2 years people will still playing the hell outta halo 3, and they will be making a new COD just to keep up.

Lol your an idiot, im sher if microsoft had supported cod4 with millions of dollars they could have afforded the necesary servers for that many people on christmas too. ( mind my bad grammar)

If infinity ward had more people trying to play cod4 than they predicted wouldnt that be a good thing?
Of course bungie was prepared. microsoft hyped the game up its ass. People were going to buy it and play it just because it has halo in its name. 3 million people who played halo3 fueled by hype....
So what if they have to make cod5? They are continuing the story where it left off and improving some things. Sounds good to me. Bungie had to make halo3 to compete with newer games.

Are any of the CoD games related story-wise? (Besides the obvious WWII setting) There's no main story to continue.

They came out with Halo 3 because
1.) They weren't able to finish it in the second game.
2.) They knew it would be the biggest game in history (which it was/is) and wanted to cash-in.
3.) Halo 2 was competing with 360 games up until Halo 3 came out. Gears was one of, if not the only 360 game to surpass Halo2, but that didn't even last.

People keep posting links to the xbl most played charts. But dont understand that halo3 is just more popular than cod4, not a better game than cod4.

I actually prefer COD4's multiplayer for one reason. There's meaning to your rank.

I love gaining new weapons and upgrades as I play, and even though I just started yesterday, I could compete with the guys with everything unlocked. The customization you can pull off isn't game breaking, but it allows you an advantage if you prefer to snipe, or go in guns blazing.

Adding customizations to your weapons is also very cool, you can put a silencer on your gun so you don't show up on radar, or you can put an upgraded sight on it.

Both multiplayers are awesome, and the only reason I bought either game, but for right now, COD4's customization (not to mention an already great multiplayer) pushed it past Halo for me.

Oh, and ghilly suits=Awesome

i agree, imo online cod4 is less frustrating, less hit an miss, less what the -blam!- moments?!? and less how the h@ll did that guy survive that? the only reason i still play is co-op online..if cod4 had that i wouldn't play halo anymore.

I am going to refer you to the thread title - HALO not so POPULAR anymore

And as for what is a better game, it's 100% in the eyes of the beholder. There will never be a winner in that argument, and people will line up on either side to call the others stupid.
Why people can't accept the fact that some people may not agree with them about what game is "better" will never make sense to me.

Old GTs; RebelRobot, Flamedude

To each their own! Awards are nice but ultimately there is only one opinion that counts; the players opinion. I like CoD4 a lot but I prefer Halo3. And that's that.

Seriously though; do any of these awards convince anyone to alter their opinions of what their favourite game is?? If so I think that says a lot about the player! Might is right is a terrible philosophy.

With cod4s ending they will probally continue it. Maybe not the same character but same universe.
1. Youre right they didnt have time to finish the last 2 levels of halo2 so they had to make halo3. With microsoft running thw whole thing. Now that they are indie again they can go back to making great games like marathon and haloce.
2.With halo2s success and the hype machine microsoft used on halo3 thats a huge duh. So halo3 was just a money making game and thats all. Not a game that was meant to be good that made lots of money because it is good. halo3-Good graphics oh and its halo with multiplayer buy it because its halo.NOW.
3.halo2 lasted so long because its actually fun.
