Alright, i go to my stats, at the top it says "Link Your Gamertag!". Yet it is signed in (Passport says signout). So i click Link Your Gamertag. And it goes to live.xbox.com. Already signed in. Bungie.net having issues? Or do i have to do something else to link it. I'll repeat once more "I AM ALREADY SIGNED IN". So don't reply saying "DID YOU SIGN UP?".

I'm not too sure what the problem is. All I can suggest is that you log out of everything associated with your Windows Live ID (Xbox.com, Hotmail.com, Bungie.net, etc.), then log-in on Bungie.net and try again.

Edit: I think there may be problems at the moment.

Nope, that wouldn't do anything at all, but for -blam!-s n giggles, i tried it. And nope, doesn't work. Before bungie updated this windows live thing, you can view your friends on here (bungie.net) now it says "Link your gamertag". Which it is, linked, so this is -blam!-. I can't download any new game types or videos from the forums.

I've heard of several people having problems with their linked gamertags recently. You may just have to wait.

what's a little spinal fluid between you and a friend?

Xbox live is having bandwidth issues due to all the new subsribers from the holiday season. PLease be patient and wait a few day, and the problem should be resolved.

That has nothing to do with the problem, Plus it is new, just formated. So again, not the problem. If it was that simple, i wouldn't be here asking, this is the first problem i've ever had with bungie.

Xbox 's server is having problems right now.
You just have to wait it out.

How long do we have to wait? "Link Gamertag" has been broken for the better part of yesterday up to the present moment for me.
I suspect that Bungie must have taken the weekend off.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

It's xbox live's fault. They can't seem to get their servers under control with the Christmas rush so it's been going crazy for a couple of days now.

Users may experience issues logging into Xbox Live. The Xbox Live Technical Support Team is aware of the issue and is currently working to resolve it. They apologize for any inconvenience. Therefore, because of this, there have been various problems with signing into your WLID account, whether it being on xbox.com, Bungie.net, or another WLID supported website. It should be working properly within the next week or two. Thank you for your patience.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

I'd also recommend never choosing the automatically sign me in or remember my email and password. Both for security reasons and for problems such as these.

I have that problem too. Glad to know i'm not the only one and just waiting is the best remedy. I can wait, its not important.

With that attitude, I'm surprised you even expect people to help you.

Yeah as before, I am having the same exact problem for some reason. I suspect that the gamertag xml(?) that Bungie.Net uses to fetch from XBox.Com to determine your gamertag (by linking) is not working for everyone for some reason.

In essense, B.Net's servers ask "What is this Live Passport user's gamertag"? and the response is "nothing". Just my guess.
Note that I can log into Live via the 360 and even buy movies form Video Store. The only thing that appears to be on the fritz is the File Share - I cannot upload nor download anything via Fileshare.

I also need help linking, but in a different way. When i click the "link gamertag" link, it takes be to the gamertag creator page. I fill in the gamertag name etc. then click next, then it says that the name is taken, so i click login under that name. the problem is, when i fill in the Windows Live e-mail adress and password, it says that it is the wrong Windows Live account for the gamertag. Ideas on how to fix this?

  • 12.30.2007 2:05 PM PDT

As RVideo said, all of these problems are cause by the fact that the Xbox Live servers have been overloaded by the rush of new subscribers. The status bar on the xbox site has been continually posted as having some sort of problem which they are "currently trying to resolve." There is simply nothing we can do until the servers are back up to prime status. I'm fairly sure that none of these problems are caused by the individual users' computer settings. We all just have to wait it out until the service is back up and running. At least be thankful that, for the most part, the multiplayer component is still functional most of the time.

  • 12.30.2007 3:15 PM PDT

Heh - We are not alone. Even XBox Live's "featured gamer" seems to be having a linking issue - Gamertag of "featured gamer" (GT 'Bubble Shield') does not exist! Now that's embarrasing.
