I agree with LlamaKing. Halo CE has much more depth and staying power than H2 and H3. I missed it so much that I played XBC yesterday instead of H3. I got tired of the crap BR and I missed my single shot pistol, double-melee, backpack reload, and reliable weapons that work. Hit me up on XBC my name is Lurker_7 on XBC

whats backpack reload

XXY. It's a glitch that lets you shoot your primary while your secondary weapon reloads. Done correctly you can lay down a near continuous barrage of fire without having to stop and reload.

agreed.if they could get online play for Halo 1, i would love it. But nothing downloaded. Those are a waste of money. Just pop Halo into your Xbox, click the button that says, there is an update to get to play this game on XBL and your in. i think that they should make Halo 2 for downloadable full-game, especially for us unhappy campers who bought Halo 2 for secondhand at a good price and were happy to see it works in the Xbox, but its a no go for the 360.

I believe the weapons in Halo:CE make Halo:CE beat Halo3. Plus, the enemies are way more mobile in Halo:CE than in Halo3. I had to get used to Elites running around, barrel-rolling, and jumping.

Two Betrayals is my favorite campaign level. I dunno why. I guess it's because it's basically AotCR but at night-time.

And because of "Final Run" at the end had the BIGGEST battle any Halo game has ever featured before.
Well, it had the biggest battle that actually involved foot troops at least.... I think either the double scarab battle on the covenant and the tank battle at the end of the ark were both bigger. I must say, though, that is one thing that the Halo games in general seem to lack: a larger scale. After all, how cool would it have been to see the Master Chief and a bunch of marines charging out against a giant wave of covenant troops?

yeah it would be awesome even though i would kinda be like SPARTANS TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL!!

H3 is ok,but honestly,I'd still rather be escaping from the pillar of autumn while it's being attacked by a storm of covenant troops or running through the rooms of the silent cartographer, killin grunts and elites alike, and it almost feels like bungie got a little lazy with H3,by which I mean that they spent all their time on graphics and slopped all the rest on afterwards.Man I only play three games right now:Halo CE,CoD 4,and the J&D series.Even those games are worth replaying more than H3!

Why would you guys want to pay $100 for Halo Combat Evolved with online multiplayer? Why not just go to wal mart and buy HaloPC for $20 and download CE for free. HaloCE is the better than Combat Evolved, Halo2, and Halo3. Much much much better than the borefest that is Halo3....

TC, I don't even think they should remake any of the graphics or gameplay. JUST recode the networking code so that it can enable more players. The graphics are fine and equipment ruins gameplay and I feel like I'm playing freakin Shadowrun instead of Halo with all these blamming regens and bubble shields. I realize it would take a good team of people to recode H1 for Xbox Live, but I think Bungie does owe it to their most loyal fans who have been with them supporting them by buying their products. I hope they actually look at the HCE forum but my guess is they don't.

I have Halo PC and it just isn't the same with a mouse and keyboard. I even tried using my 360 controller but the joysticks are too sensitive to movement and you can't use the diagonals, it's like a D-Pad instead. Plus Halo PC still had old code and it does lag too much, they should just recode it somehow.... somehow get it done plz Bungie!

1. Despawning/respawning vehicles.
2. No dual-analog support.
3. No split screen.
4. Not all computers run it well.
5. Network code could still use some work.
6. The slight map changes.
7. The new weapons that the game would be better without.

I guess that's about it.

Yeah i see how that could be a problem for most people. I have no problem running it or playing games. I get worse lag playing Halo2 than i do in HaloCE. And i find it better with a keyboard and mouse, but thats because i grew up playing Marathon, Doom, System Shock 2, and Quake on the PC.

I think it would be to much trouble for Microsoft to remake Halo Combat Evolved. Bungie isnt going to do it. Bungie doesnt own the rights to Halo and is done with the Halo universe. Its all up to MS now. If they did do it they would have another developer remake the game to support matchmaking. But whats the point? MS has Halo3 and that is selling very well even if it is a bad game. They would spend the money to remake an 8 year old outdated game just so the few handful of people can buy and play it.

My God, I've never played Halo on the PC until recently (6 months ago), and the battles and everything are perhaps one of the most BEST experiences I've had in a video game. Let me just name a few:

Slayer on Chillout with 8 people. Absolutely insane.
Slayer on Damnation with 8 people. Chaotic.
Capture the Flag on Sidewinder with 16 people. The best battles ever.
Slayer on Hang Em' High with 10 people. Nothing beats that.

What I like about Halo PC, you didn't have to worry about being the best, or having a certain rank. It was just about playing and having fun. You never really worry about being the winning or losing.

Those were the best games I've ever played.

Agreed. Too bad the demo doesn't work on my pc anymore for some reason.

Xbox 360 Elite

The A.I. in Halo 1 seems to be smarter than the guys in Halo 3. The marines know whats going on and don't drive away with your warthog [ or destroy you while you're in it]. Elite A.I. [and Elites in general] is a more enjoyable adversary than any Brute in Halo 3.

I do agree with this statement. I do find combat with the Elites to be much more intense and challenging than that with the Brutes. The Elites are very agile and don't need to dive onto the ground every time they need to dodge something. Also, the Brutes just have a lot of armor and rapidly pummel you with whatever ammo they have. The Elites seem to have more combat skill overall.

I do find the story mode of Halo to be harder than that of Halo 2 and Halo 3. I feel it's more difficult do to the fact you do have health, although I'm not a big fan of the health, it seems to make the game more difficult.

I'm still conflicted on which Halo game I like the best. But I might lean towards Halo 2.

The elites were much more mobile than the brutes, and because they had energy shields and would retreat to recharge it made encounters with them better.

Too often in halo 3 you get brutes just standing there looking at your position, doing nothing.

Keyboard/Mouse is usable for me, and it's a certainly easier to aim with a mouse. I just find the controller more comfortable. I've just never really liked wasd. That being said, I could probably find an acceptable control scheme. It's just that I don't see Halo PC/CE as a perfect replacement, even if it is the best that we have.

The Elites of past were also much, much dumber. Take cover behind a rock in "Halo" some distance away, and you'll see what I mean. The Elite will sidestep in and out of cover, pause to look at you for a few seconds every once and while, then continue dancing in and out. It's repetitive, and the AI makes no effort to somehow push you from your hiding place, even though it can clearly see you and it clearly has the reinforcements to do it with. Read the GDC slides on Halo 3's approach to AI and you'll see just how much better it is than Halo 1's static encounter firing positions and squads. No amount of nostalgia or personal preference will change that fact.

And I took that specific Brute behaviour to be "waiting", I first saw one do it when I took cover inside a bubble shield. Instead of charging in blindly, he just stood there, knowingly aware of the fact that he didn't have to flush me out, he could simply wait. Such behaviour isn't accidental, the AI was intentionally designed to be more aware of more environment factors.

This is what i believe

Campaign: Halo 1>Halo3>Halo2
Multiplayer: Halo1>Halo3>Halo2- Try playing a LAN game of 4v4 of CTF Hang em High, its a blast.
Music: Halo1>Halo3>Halo2

Halo:Combat Evolved is by far the best Halo game, ever. Try playing it on Legendary and you'll see what i mean. On the second mission where you must rescue survivors, on part where the marines are hiding in the rocks, make sure you have a sniper rifle and wait until all the Spirits have dropped out their troops. Its about 40 Covies vs 8 UNSC and 1 Spartan on Legendary, this battle easily beats any battle I've ever had in Halo 3.

LAN games are great for multiplayer. 1-Your playing with friends.
2-Its a blast.
3- 4v4 CTF on Hang em High has to be one of the best gametypes with map set ever.

Also, can you believe how great of a mission 343 Guilty Spark was? I mean its the first time you face and see the Flood!

"By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes
."

Halo 3 > Halo 1 without a doubt.

Halo 1 had no online multiplayer, unless you play XBC, but that lagged too much, and it was nothing but pistol fights, or you got the edition for the PC. Halo 3 has a ranking system and also features options like voice so you can talk to your teammates, which is something you couldn't do for Halo 1 online. And there are also more maps, and more are coming out all the time.

For campaign, Halo 1 had a great campaign. It set the mood and made the whole story seem epic. But Halo 3 delievered the same feeling of epicness.

Halo 3 features forge, which allows those smart and creative to make a sweet map (I personally have made a great one called Sharks and Minos), and film, which enables the player to take screenshots or save awesome clips to watch over and over again. It also allows those wishing to brush up on their tactics to observe the way other gamers play.

Both games give you the ability to customize your character. Halo 1 only gave you the ability to change the color of your player. In Halo 3, you can choose between a Spartan and an Elite, custom armor, more coloring abilities for your character, and the ability to add a service tag as well as an emblem.

Halo 1 has a much better campaign, but because Bungie failed to give the re-release XBL, Halo 3 has more replay value. Come on Bungie, why no Halo 1 multiplayer?
