The elites were much more mobile than the brutes, and because they had energy shields and would retreat to recharge it made encounters with them better.

Too often in halo 3 you get brutes just standing there looking at your position, doing nothing.

That's realistic. Elites are smart, and thus employ smart battlefield tactics. Brutes are idiots whose only advantage is their, well, brute strength.

Well then, either they should have been unrealistic, or their storyline caused problems for their gameplay, either way they should have changed something.

For one, realism is of no concern at all. Not because we're dealing with things that don't exist anyway, but because gameplay is paramount. The second a decison is made that takes away from gameplay but adds to the realism or fiction of a game, that's a bad decision. Don't you agree?

But secondly, brutes standing there doing nothing but pointing their gun at your position is not using their advantage of brute strength anyhow. I think they should have been more aggressive. They don't move around as much as the elites. I actually agree that brutes wouldn't tactically retreat as much and maybe wouldn't use cover as much either - but that only works if they're going to charge you down, which they didn't really.

Halo 3 Marines can karate kick. Halo 3 marines win.

Forgetacular Contest Winner (Race Category)

i think people are missing a key aspect to the marine intelligence issue. Halo is meant for you to kill everyone and not let everyone else do the work for you. the marines are essentially a kind of scenery that make the game more immersive. the marines could have easily been much smater but it would've taken the fun out of the game if they were constantly stealing your kills

and yes about the driving thing... all of the marines need to go back to drivers ed

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Halo man. The memories.

Why it does: FANTASTIC campaign.

Why it doesn't: No Xbox live :(

I recently found out that for some reason Halo 1 doesn't work when played on PC monitors, providing a big blow for Lantaculars.

quite frankly, I don't see how that is possible. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if a monitor can recieve the video feed from an xbox and any other game, it shouldn't have any problems as it is just displaying data fed to it. The only way there would be a problem was if you had some sort of issue with the settings on the monitor being improperly set up or there's a problem with the xbox itself, as far as I am aware.

I'm sure you need a special cable in order to use monitors with consoles.

I believe there is an issue with the refresh rate on the PAL version of the game. It's not something we experience with the NTSC version.

I've never actually used a PC monitor to game on, but when I suggested to my Gaming Group that they play Halo 1 at a LAN they told me Halo 1 wouldn't appear on PC Monitors.

I don't know if the original Xbox can be set up for it, but you can try running Halo on a BC-Xbox 360. You'll need the right cables to hook it up to the monitor, VGA or HDMI should work (Depends on the monitor).

halo has a way better story line than halo3 that and plus halo has a equally ranged plot.

I think people who say Halo 2/3 multiplayer is better than Halo Combat Evolved multiplayer, don't have any friends, and have never played over a LAN or XBC, as the multiplayer kicks H2/3's arse all over the playground!

Except the vehicles. And the lag. Everything else is much better, balanced.

Not all the vehicles. I personally think the CE banshee was the best one.

I'll agree with the lag, but I prefer the vehicles.

I'll agree with the lag, but I prefer the vehicles.
I prefer the vehicles and physics of Halo CE, but the part that I meant was how a slight bump from any vehicle is kill or death.

u know why halo3 is worse because it has rich bastards and noobs there they think theyer coll just for having a brand new series. plus they get away from 1,000s of pros so if u play halo3 u play with noobs or u r 1 then stop reading or u r consisdered a idiot looking at stuff that u shouldnt look at. they think theyer so cool by hiding from pros and powning even more noobs i could imajine it me getting it powning noobs all day long lol.but serious they should acualy make it harder for the noobs that think theyer cool.just because the pros cant get it dosent mean that they wont get it in the future.

You've got to think crazy, of course, because you only get innovation by refining insanity. - Jason Jones

It has to be said, gameplay > story. Always. Gameplay first, story second.

That is a matter of opinion. I myself much prefer story over gameplay. If I am not sucked in by the story I personally have no ambition, and do not care if I even finish the game. Now gameplay does aid the story in some cases and that is a great thing. Halo's story is the only reason I play any Halo game. The visuals and gameplay mechanics for me could equal that of the original quake and I would still play it if the story was solid.

With halo ce I was sucked in from the first cutscene. I immediately went out and purchased all the books I could pertaining to the story. Now, the gameplay was great I thought. I enjoyed shooting at the enemeis and being shot at. I think the reason I personally enjoy halo ce so much more than the other 2 is because I was introduced to the fiction and characters of Halo with ce, so I feel closer to the story.

One of the reasons I couldn't get into the story in halo 2 was because of the constant jumping around between locations and characters. I felt as though I wasn't making a difference in the game/story with halo 2. In halo ce I was mostly on the ring and could relate to previous locations saying "Wow, this looks like the canyon I just freed some soldiers from not an hour ago." Things like that always suck me into a game.

So depending on personal preferences, I say Story > Gameplay.
