Subject: Should Halo 3 be Game of the Year?

Go Rockets!!!

Yao Ming is back!!!

And by the way, how the hell did Bioshock win the GOTY, Spike TV should be ashamed of themselves.

The melee system is just one flaw in Halo 3. There are so many better games out there. To OP, you call CoD4 just a remake of the older ones? Have you played Halo 3? The only thing I see in Halo 3 is Halo 2 with better graphics, worst guns (I'm looking at you, AR), horrible maps, and a laser gun that goes through anything. CoD4 did something completely new in multiplayer and should be recognized for it. Anyway, by GOTY vote is either BioShock or CoD4..or Mass Effect.

Location: Outlaws' Summit.

Game of the Year goes to the most Revolutionary game. Something that changes the Genre.

Bioshock was huge for the FPS action/adventure genre.

Mario Galaxy showed the platform genre can still be changed for the better.

Mass Effect was a major showing for the RPG Genre.

Halo 3 was great (broke media records) but it's not revolutionary. COD4 was probably more memorable than Halo 3 (from what I'm hearing.)

So as much as I love the Halo series, no, Halo 3 shouldn't be Game of the Year IMO

Portal should be GOTY. It may be short, but it was best damn game I've played in a long time. Oh yeah, don't forget the Portal Song!

Runner-up is Mass Effect, which is amazing in so many ways.

Not really. Bioshock was a good game, despite what others say, CoD4 has it beat in campaign all the way, super Mario Galaxy was supposed to be pretty sick, as was the Orange Box. I mean, Portal alone could have put up a fair fight against Halo 3. In alll seriousness. But really, Halo 3's campaign was too short, the AI wasn't all that great, and graphics STILL could have been much better. All it has to really really shine for it is its multiplayer, which is the essense of awesome despite certain... erm, difficulties. I beleive CoD4 was a better contestant than Halo 3. In all honesty.

I hate 360 fanboys and ps3 fanboys. Halo 3 is good but Unreal Tournament 2007 and COD4 are GODLIKE.

Hell no. Its fun, but there is nothing revoltionary about the game. if it wanted to be though, it would have to add things in order for it to be truly next gen. 1. 90% of enviroments destructable, 2. The ability to put enemy AI bots on the map. 3. True next gen quality graphics. 4. New unique vehicles. The ability to spawn every type of object in every map (not in a ridiculous sense though.).

Ok, first off, if you think about it, Halo 3 is already processing a ton. You have constant air battles in the background, great music playing, huge enviroments with tons of on-screen enemies, not to mention all of the explosions, plus the sound that comes with the explosions and the screams of covenant being fried and you want destrucible environments, tell me what exactly you mean by that. I thought that most everything in Halo 3 was pretty interactive. As for AI bots, I'm assuming your talking about in multiplayer, well my good sir, basically, that would be the exact same thing as playing campaign except you would fight a spartan. Instead won't you just play campaign. For how huge Halo 3 is, I thought it had decent graphics. New vehicles- I think Halo 3 covered that, I mean sure you only got a few new vehicles, but the Halo series already had a ton of vehicles, if there were any more it would be hard to use them all in campaign. As for you "ability to spawn every type of object in every map", the fine folks at Bungie prevented that because they knew there would be those people who had to do dumb stuff, then they would overload the processor and crash the game, then there would be a lawsuit filed against Bungie, cause someone's 360 broke. So I think Bungie was just protecting themselves.

Halo 3? Not really, but it was definitely one of my choices for Game of the Year.

be my friend

Should it be game of the year as it is in its current state as of right now? Absolutely not.

Should it have been GOTY if they waited to release it a few more months later into 08 and tested this stuff more and fixed all the crap? Yes.

Most certainly not.

I would give it to either Call of Duty 4 for reinventing itself in the multiplayer aspect, or to Rock Band for the pure invention that it is.

The pure invention??????

Come on...ever since GH came out people would always make jokes about "Drum Hero" "Rock Hero" and even "Rap Hero". Rock band is just the accumulation of these things. All it is is GH with new instruments.

Games of they Year: Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, and CoD 4

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

i dont think halo 3 should be game of the year. bioshock and assassens creed are much better games

You've first got to consider the question, what makes game of the year? What exactly are critics, judges, industry people etc looking for?

You could spend all day arguing over that one, but I'm sorry to say one thing - halo 3 probably doesn't have it. Innovation, pushing the envelope, taking things to a new level - halo 3 didn't really do any of that. Features, customisation, longevity - sure it has those in spades. But those don't make it a milestone.

sadly...no. Super Mario Galaxy is hands down the most original, fun, and just sick-ass game i have played in a long time. This game truly deserves the title of GOTY.

No matter how many times I forget about this place, I always get dragged back.

I'm more than okay with that.

Yes, Portal should be Game of the Year. Although short, think of the innovation in that game. Who knew that the only thing you needed to bypass a room full of turrets was a blue and an orange intradimensional portal, and a couple of boxes?

I haven't played Mass Effect. Everyone says it's amazing, so I guess it is.
