Subject: Possible Upgrades for Bungie.net

Hello whoever is reading this,

This threads purpose is to improve all that you either see as unfit or needed for the Bungie.net website. If you see some but in the site please report it here. If you would like something added to Bungie.net please add it here as well. Hopefully with enough posts we can get the attention of the moderators and hopefully get either some modification of the site or removal of some objects of the site. Please, I do not want flaming nor arguing.

My suggestions:

1) To add somewhere in a person's post who he is responding to.
I have seen this in other sites and have found that it prevents a fair amount of confusion. You can just quote the person but that is such a waste of space and can be cumbersome.

Fortunately, that is all I can think of for the moment but except more to come.

Yahweh Freak

PS: If we can get several people to agree on one requested thing then perhaps it will be more likely to get implemented into the system.

PPS: I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. Please inform me if this is the case.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

Couldn't you just say "at [insert name here], blah blah blah..."

hmmm... both recon and odst make good points... im going to have to go with recon though. however, quoting does become cumbersome when quote pyramids occur.

So, don't quote the whole pyramid...

the only problem is that most people don't take the time to delete the unneeded material...

we call those people lazy.

Only problem on this site is the sub-par search feature.

Then the Ninjas will give them the banhammer! Bwahahahaha.

Anyways, yes...I believe the current quote feature is better than what you are proposing. There are sites where you cannot edit the quote unless you edit your post.

You've got to balance that when you're thinking about things like this. There may very well be some people who don't want to take the time and/or effort to quote a single post, and I'm fine with that, as long as it doesn't start to interfere with my experience.

The problem is that a feature that automatically takes out that "unneeded material" and replaces it with a text string saying "This post is in reply to: " might detrimentally affect the experiences of everyone else -- you have to take that into account when considering what it'll cost you to cater to the wants of the lazy.

I know that personally, I'd much rather stick with the cascading-quote system we have now -- tying into what I said above, I think that it's much simpler to just erase the parts of a post that you don't want to reply to, whether those parts are a person's comments that are irrelevant to what you're trying to say or even more quotes.

I do not like throwing the word "most" around when talking about people in general, especially here, because I haven't met every single one of the million-plus active accounts on bungie.net and surveyed them all, and I certainly haven't been here nearly long enough to have seen every one submit a post. I will say that there are some people who don't like removing excess material and quotes, but I really don't think that there's enough of that going around to warrant such an addition.

From what I've seen, this is with out a doubt in my mind the cleanest forum I have ever "seen". Comparing this to the other gaming forums. Their is just no comparison. Some of them confuse me allot. and it becomes very hard for me to determine which is the actual response from the signature. It even get confusing sometimes from the Signatures. Implementing small changes or fixes are always a good idea. But making Big changes can affect a lot of things.
Thats why sometimes you have to ad little by little till you get what you need.

Maybe to add color words to the groups.

I wouldn't mind if maximum characters for sigs were increased a bit. Don't see how it could hurt seeing as how sigs can only be viewed if you move the mouse over someone's avatar. Or is it that Bungie.net can't afford it's members to have longer sigs?

Other than that I don't have any other suggestions.

After some thought and such I have found you are indeed correct. However, I was not talking about them being auto-inserted into the post but say beneath the name or above the post itself saying perhaps "in reply to" or something to that effect.

Yahweh Freak

PS: I would like an increase of characters available.

What would be nice is if a search feature would be implemented for the members page on groups. This would make it a lot easier to find members who are on the higher pages. This feature has been requested many times and in many different forms and I still think groups (when they do get updated) should include this feature.

what would be nice Is a search feature that was good.

Not to say this one isn't, but many times when you search for something it comes up with posts with only one word that matches. Also the search criteria should be fixed.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Spoiler tags. They are no less abusable than quotes and extremely useful when discussing games.
