Subject: Final Word, Is Halo 2 Vista good or not?

Let there be CHAOS!

Posted by: Doug52392
Let's put it this way: I'll tell you when I can actually _play_ the game. I will get back to you on that. I bought it in August, still can't play it (it installs, but never runs, telling me system resources are damaged or my system is incompatible.). I just got a nVidia 8600GT for my computer though, so once I get it installed, I _might_ be able to play Halo 2. I've been having lots of graphics related issues with my computer's crappy Intel integrated card, like access violations in Windows and Segmentation Faults in Linux.

...

You were trying to run Halo 2 on an integrated Intel graphics card lol?

OH Lawd I knew Agamemnon was coming.

Hey Aggy just wondering... Do you have any of the GFWL Games?

Sorry, I don't buy garbage. Further more, you actually don't have a say in the matter after you've shown everyone how you're a condescending idiot on h2vista.net.

xD, when I checked out this thread, and scrolled up, I saw a bunch of text text and quotes. I knew it could be only you xD

You enjoy breaking things down, don't you? Yes you do! Yus you does! Pfft peh pffft! Pleh.

You kinda need to get over yourself; you're being a troll =D

EDIT: May I also mention that I the only solution for map-editing doesn't have to be 3ds max. You can just get gmax, and find gmax-compatable export plugins, and still get a format that the map tools can use. That, or use Bit Torrent.

Oh, powr baby still hurting over being wrong in the previous topic that I laid down the truth on? Do you need a tissue?

Oh, and short of pirating software (which I imagine is frowned upon when you steal copyrighted material, right?), get real.

Agamemnon, just because you don't like Halo 2 doesn't mean you have to complain to everyone saying like "You are wrong. This sucks. That sucks." Look, it's all opinion. I like it. Going to complain?

Yeah. Got a problem with it? It's an opinion. Get used to it. Freedom of speech and all. Given that Bungie has also stated at how much of a failure Halo 2 was and also given that it is common knowledge that Halo 2 Vista is one of the worst ports on the gaming market, your opinion is the minority. If anything it's the blinded, jaded fanboy argument. "Everything is an opinion. I cannot stand on a support beam for the life of me if someone might sweep it under me at any time, so I plead everything is an opinion." By your very logic a serial killer can claim he did nothing wrong because "The common societal belief that killing people is wrong is an opinion."

Honestly, this is why this garbage still goes on. People say, "Oh, it wasn't that bad." I'm starting to wonder if even half of you even bought the game with your own money to even come to assessment of being able to judge the game, because when you kids have no value of the dollar, no wonder this sort of garbage becomes "ok" to you, especially when you aren't the ones making any consumer decisions for yourselves.

Aggy, let me put it this way. Your a person who writes the most detailed objections to war, giving amazing descriptions of the chaos and blood. Yet you've never even touched a rifle.

That was a poor metaphor, mostly because you don't need to even touch a rifle to know the impact of a war. You use these things called your eyes to see the destruction it causes, the pain that it renders, and the corruption it spreads. You don't actually need to pick up a rifle to know how a man is killed, to see the very life of him being robbed by his fellow man; you can see it happen and still understand the concept just as well.

You might see it, but you won't feel it nor know it.

Anyway, just accept that some people might enjoy the game, and that it's not a sin. If you really care this much I rank you with nothing of than possession of this thing we call computer media.

LEAVE HIM DEVIL!

ok so i finally got halo 2 PC
and i didn't know it was for vista
(my fault ) but w/e
so anyway i was expecting something very similar to the online play for halo 1 PC BUT
just me having to pay 50$ to get online play or actually any amount of moeny completely discourages me to play the online
and IT NEEDS VISTA!!!!
WTF i am sorry but thats bull
most the ppl i know that have vista pay my friend to have it taking off there computer
so the requirement just make it not worth it (to me) and to me when i pay 49.99 to get the crap i want the full experience !!!!!!
i much rather stick with the 1st one where i don't have to pay a dime to have the full experience

Halo 2 vista's gotta be for xp right. Sure it's annoying that the game needs vista, but buying it without checking the requirements is just dumb. Sorry kid, but you lost.

You might see it, but you won't feel it nor know it.

Ok, now you tell that to the hundreds of thousands who have seen their very friends kidnapped before their eyes, or families that have been destroyed because someone dropped a bomb on their home. Why don't you go tell those people they will never "feel it" or "know it." Don't pull that discriminatory garbage of ageism; I already get that plenty from children that call themselves adults, that talk about "poverty" and "hardships." Why don't you go live in La Ceiba, Honduras and then talk about poverty and hardships. I don't need to pick up a rock and throw it at someone to know what it will do; I already know what it will do. I've seen what it can do. But any fool who says they can't speak out against the throwing of rocks because they haven't thrown one themselves is like a defense for a war criminal.

People might enjoy this game, but you know what? People enjoy killing other people. People enjoy causing pain to other people. Joy is an emotion and it can be toyed with and conditioned, because it's a matter of perception, and perception comes from that person's understanding of a situation. This isn't a matter of letting people wallow in their garbage; it's about getting people to open their eyes so they can finally say, "Enough is enough. I'm not taking any more of this garbage."

But we don't say that. And that's the problem.

Those people are part of the war. You don't have to be shooting someone else to experience it. However, do you think the average American citizen knows -blam!-.

One mans trash is another mans treasure...or in this case a semi well made camera from china.

Frog Blast the Vent Core!

How'd this become a philosophical discussion?

Anyways, there are some good games in Halo 2 Vista, but getting to them is what makes the port overall bad. Paying $50 for a $25 game, having a great computer for sub-par graphics, getting gold, making sure there are no errors, and getting on at good times. It could be so much better if it was just more optimized and well-planned out.

The base for it is if you like Halo 2, anyways.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

I'm still not seeing any of the technical problems often described in this forum. My game has installed and activated multiple times, and it runs allright on my graphics card, which is not as good as most. In fact my computer isn't even that good, but yet I run this game fine.

And Vista isn't that bad, it's like XP all over again.

Even if the game ran crystal clear for everyone (which despite you and StaticX having a seamless experience I haven't heard anyone else say that it was a breeze) I still have no idea why people who call themselves gamers can like Halo 2.
Jesus guys... the game ended with you playing as an elite. It's fraught with bugs of all types. The Balance is terrible. The graphics are terrible (and anyone who says otherwise.... just don't bother. It's obvious you don't have a good video card and haven't played anything in recent memory). The Cutscenes are badly done. Nobody plays it. The game contains the energy sword. It gives autoaim to certain people. It has a 70 degree field of view. There is no competitive league for it to speak of. Somebody give me ONE reason why this is a good game - better than HL2, better than Team Fortress, better than Call of Duty, better than FEAR, better than any single one of those cheaper more widely played games. Besides the music.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Other than some slight campaign graphics lag, I have had no problems with the game, and I love it.

I reccomend it to all!

BTW, @ Ironman: read the box next time. ;)

EDIT: Oh, and Aggy, you might want to remove your foot from your mouth any time now. ;)

You proclaim about how you can put the game down and free speech and all that, but then you tell someone they don't have a say in the matter.

Hmm...

Did you have any problems with the game before it was ported? :P

It is essentially just playing Halo 2 for the Xbox. The addition of achievements, custom maps, etc... was nice. But it was really nothing major. I only played it for the achievements.

No, I very much can. He's proven his ignorance on the issue and thus his opinion means diddly.

And yet what does this have to do with the tea in China? I mean, besides just confirming what ever doubts you have on the American people, despite never having met more than 0.1% of its population.
