I did not find my true love playing Halo, but I did help my true love to find Halo. I have been playing all of the Halo games and started with Halo CE in 2002 it was love at first sight zoom. I have recruited many friends and relatives to the Halo universe over the years, but the one recruitment I am most proud of is my fiancée Valerie. We met for the first time in fall of 2003 during a high school football game. I was a senior and she was a freshman. She was hanging out with a group of friends which included one of my good buddies, who happened to be another person I recruited to Halo and played with often. We talked for a little bit but at the time there weren’t any sparks and we parted ways that night. When the school year ended I was riding around with some friends going to graduation parties and we happened upon a party for this girl who I knew pretty well. Little did I know, this girl just so happened to be the older sister of Valerie. My friends and I ended up hanging out for the rest of the night at their house. This time there were sparks worthy of a 4th of July extravaganza. We ended up spending almost every day together that summer and when the summer came to a close the fun didn’t end. I attended a local community college the following fall, which allowed us to still maintain a happy relationship while she started her sophomore year in high school. During the time that we dated I would spend many hours with friends participating in Halo CE & Halo 2 games via LAN parties or Xbox live. My fiancée thought I was a nerdy little kid for spending as much time as I did playing video games. She never tried to persuade me to give them up, but she just never seemed interested in giving them a try. When she graduated from high school we decided to move in together. At this point we had been dating for about 3 years and were in the deepest type of love. She proved her love for me time and time again with gifts like an Xbox 360 for Valentines Day 2007 and Halo 3 Legendary edition on September 25th 2007. She also bought me other gifts like 12-month live subscriptions and wireless headset. She is by far the greatest girl ever. Even though she had bought me all of that great stuff she had still never played any Halo game. Shortly after Halo 3 was released I decided I was going to get her to at least try Halo 3. It ended up taking me about a month and a half before I convinced her to give it a try but try she did. It was at that point that her eyes lit up like the Rockefeller Christmas tree and she finally realized how great the game is and how I could have spent so many nights and hours playing it. Over the next month she had logged a respectable amount of hours and even gained some impressive skills. She has joined the Xbox live community and has spent every minute of it playing Halo 3. Every night we are at home I hear her ask, “Can we play Halo now?” and any time we are away from our house she will say “I can’t wait to get home and play Halo.” During Thanksgiving this year I asked for her hand in marriage and she said yes. It was at that moment that I knew I had not only gained a fiancée, and soon to be wife, but also my newest and most permanent Halo teammate. So I am proud to say that even though I did not find my true love playing Halo, I was able to help my true love find Halo.
