I actually got the score that I needed on the ASVAB to get the job that I want in the Navy. I want to be a Machinist's Mate (Nuclear), which is just a guy in the nuclear power program who works on nuclear reactors but you need a high score on the ASVAB to be eligible and I was really worried about getting the score. I got a 29 on the ACT and I talked to a guy in the Navy who got a 31 on the ACT and still only got an 88 on the ASVAB which is about where I needed to be, so I figured that I was going to be lucky if I got an 80. The day of the test I was really nervous about it and anxious to get the test over with, and when we finally got the test I was almost more nervous than I have ever been in my life. During the test I was doing ok, until I got to the math section- math has always been my weakest subject. I ended up making "educated guesses" on quite a few of the questions because there wasn't enough time for me to work it out really, and that made me even more nervous about getting a high enough score. I was thinking that I would be lucky to get a high 70's then. I made it through the other sections of the test as fast as I could, it is timed, and then at the end there a special section for the Navy, , which gave you a random 6-7 digit number (somewhere around there it was a while back), which signified a product, such as laundry detergent, and then you had to find the product that it was in a grid of numbers about 7 x 5. So that's a block of around 35 serial numbers that you had to sift through to find the answer after you had already determined that answer. The questions came in packs of 7 and there were 84 total, and a time limit of somewhere like 7 minutes (again not sure), and the beginning of the test says that it's not bad if you don't make it through all of the questions, as most people weren't able to make it through all of the questions in time. When it started I was little apprehensive, but then I realized that it was just liked scanning a room for enemy spartans, of looking for that sniper hiding in the distance; it was so similar that I even kind of had fun with it and it was almost like playing halo. I made it through all of the questions in around 4 minutes, and I came out of the test thinking thinking that that part wasn't actually that bad. When I got my test, the lady proctoring them said congratulations on my score, and I inquired as to where the score actually was. She pointed to a 98 on the page, and I was so happy that my knees almost buckled. I couldn't help but grin, and I was pretty much giggly all morning. That really made my day, and I truly think that Halo 3 and my hours spent honing my skills in game helped me get the score that I needed to be eligible for the job. Right now I'm being investigated to see if I'm eligible for the job (it requires top level security clearance), and hopefully everything will go according to plan. If I get that job I'll be set for a fulfilling career in my dream job, and no small part of that be due to Bungie in my opinion. Thanks for making such a great game and being such an awesome studio.
