Strange evolution how people have come to believe
That we are it's greatest achievement
We're barely, we're just a collection of cells
Overrating themselves

My bad, I misread your post.

I agree with JAF, I think every rule should be stated, regardless of how obvious it is. If it isnt stated, people use that as an excuse to get away with anything not stated.

Thanks for Team Snipers Bungie.
Mythic Member, Legendary Member and back and forth. i just can't make up my mind!
Campaign - Halo C.E.>Halo 2>Halo 3
Multiplayer - Halo 2>Halo 3>Halo C.E.
Just about every thing I post is my opinion and nothing more. Be subjective. Respect other's opinions. Try to understand other's point of view.

I would like to see more stringent rules and more blacklisting. Right now you can not have a good conversation or debate in Optimatch or the Halo 3 forum. If you disagree with someone then it turns in to a personal attack and the spam ensues.

  • 01.07.2008 2:50 PM PDT

I said no.
They could be harsher (if any change were to be made, that should be it.)

"That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another, a what and a what and a what.

Now try how and why."

As soon as people grow up, maybe the moderators will start treating them like big boy b.net users.

In my opinion stating "No you can't have "Armor which not be named" or "You can have "Armor which can not be named" ought to be edgy (especially the first one) because it "Derails" threads.

Do I think that the forum rules are a little srtrict? Yes.
Does that mean they aren't fair? No
Most of the rules that are put in place are to cover loopholes that makes a hot topic hot, despite the abscence of discussion.
As for contests, we won't be missing much, since we have had way too many recently.(you can still have non-screenshot contests but do so at your own risk)

Some people just need to be taught to be unique and cool headed.

If anything I think the ninjas should be more strict. I've seen in many cases they're lenient(sp?) and only lock certain threads instead of banning the OP and locking.

HALO:
IT ISNT CHOPPY ENOUGH
IT ISNT DAKKA ENOUGH

what the... i read the first page and the topic seamed to just dissole into useless banter, something id expect in flood but not here

anyway i voted that someting should be done but life's a pain and itl never hapen, i wish that the rules for Moderators were more defined, recently i got a Warning from a mod [not named] whilst TWO other mods had no problem with the topic even going so far as to post in it, its a shame that this can happen, id prefer if lower ranknig mods still had to check with a more authoritive figure before issuing warnings and the like.

The rules are fine.

I use these forums regularly, do and say exactly want I want to and have no problems. If others do, maybe they should look at what they are trying to post. The rules are pretty clear, so clear that there should be no excuse for breaking them.
If anything the enforcement of the rules should be stronger.

I am a Floodian

A reply to the original post, sorry if I miss out on any important information concerning my questions.

I wouldn't know. A lot of those complaints seem to be about the Halo 3 forum, and those strict rules have been put in place because The Halo 3 forum can't seem to follow any rule. Get the forum's act together, and the rules should start to loosen up.

About Screen shots: Again, I don't really care; I hardly use it. So I can't fully understand your problem with the way it already works.

I am not a big fan of those forums anyway. I think that they first need to begin rebuilding/just plain building the forum community by beginning with making sure trouble makers are removed. From there I think it's wise that all members try to use more basic, English 1, grammar, and less AIM speak. After that, the use of a search bar would cut down on a large number of repeated posts. Of course, the search feature isn't perfect, so some are expected.

Yeah, and the Middle East should just sort itself out and stop fighting.

Is this where we all join hands around the campfire and sing Kumbaya?

Nah, pretty damn reasonable here. If you have the least bit of common sense, you'll be fine. And besides, I can still be as silly as I want, and not get in troublez =D

yoo•zel- ('yoo-zhul): slang: vb.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

In all fairness most if not all of these rules are common on other web boards and guidelines for posting on this website constantly fluctuate because of the variety and quantity of posting done here.

Posted by: SINFUL SOUL 77
I for one think they are.....for example people are not allowed to talk about that-which-must-not-be-named whcih is a type of armor which i think everyone would like to discuss.

This was basically a necessity. The community elevated something so minuscule and remote about the game that it was completely blown out of proportion. The need to quell this surge of repeat and habitual posting was necessary in order to maintain order on the forums; you see this as harsh... in hindsight, it's a logical move.

Now in due time, rules and guidelines are repealed but only once we feel the community is ready for stable and appropriate discussion on subjects. This is the same with all forums.

Another example which I find is the worst of all is the fact that we are no longer allowed to make screenshot or film clip 'contests'.
I mean this is a forum that we the public use a hell of a lot and what are forums for.... discussing and (for the mulimedia type ones) reviewing each others items.Im using this example mainly because its a forum and that doin these '''advertise your screenshots here!!!!''' contests would lower congestion and lower the amount of people that constantly do the dreaded bump.......

I could understand this from your view, however, there is one thing that has always shown up whenever I went to the screenshot Forum. Always, every single time before this rule was set in place. That is, there would be one thread for advertisement, one single thread on the front page. I refresh the page, and one more pops up; brand new, telling people to advertise their screenshots there; then another, and another, and another. You see, these and the Contests aren't actual contests nor are they to advertise your very own screenshot; they are to get your attention, so you could rate and download the original posters content. Nothing more.

Rokit has the right idea here.

I insist that you contact Achronos if you ever have a complaint with a Moderator or a course of action taken. There is always room for improvement and we do get feedback, anything really helps.

And I've been working on defining the rules a little better for the community. With definitions and examples as to what is appropriate and what isn't. More on that in the future.

Sadly you probably weren't here before Bungie.net re-launch where we actually did have a very friend and active community. I only saw one person ever get banned from Bungie.net pre-2004.

In a perfect world people would actually take the time to respond properly. While we do encourage it, it is rather hard to enforce.

Luv. We all can has it. Togethr.

Though they are enforced to a letter and can sometimes stifle what was a good thread, for the most part forum rules keep spam to a minimum, keep threads in their respective forums, and generally make the site a nicer place to be.

EDIT: Yoozel's got the right idea.

Until you spend multiple years trying to keep this place clean, you have no right to pass judgment on the enforcing of these rules.

If you want less harsh rules, be better members. Done. Simple.
I will remove the stickies as soon as the entire member-base complies with their half of the deal.

Like the hormones sticky on the flood? I notice that's no longer there.

hmmmmm. Laws are for lawyers. hehe. just to let you all know. My cat is licking my Coffey table leg and purring for no apparent reason. Should I make a rule so she Doesn't? Or should I just leave her their so she looks all cute and cuddly?
