My x box recently got red ring virus and 4 christmas i got a new acer laptop
with nvidia geforce 7000m graphics card

Well, when i installed the first time, i hit 'Play Halo 2 for Windows Vista' and it came up with a warning saying that my graphics hardware didnt match with those that Halo 2 could run on or something like that. I kind of ignored it and hit 'Run' and it worked just fine. then it cuts into the 'News and Updates' window, and i just hit 'Play'. well, it goes to the 'Preparing to install Halo 2 for Windows Vista' window, and after that it goes into the black screen as though it'll start.
Here's where the problem begins. It pops up with a window saying 'Initialization Failed. Either insufficient system resources were found to run the game, or game files were missing or corrupted. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game might solve the problem.'
I can't technically do anything to uninstall the game because it's not installed, and there's no 'Uninstall' option on the game menu, and it's not actually on my system, only parts of the game are, and i tried deleting those before but that didnt change anything.
What do i do?!

Let there be CHAOS!

What are the specs on your laptop?

Since for some odd reason, I can't make a new topic, I'll post here. I'm playing halo 1 on pc, and in multiplayer, my player resets back to the same place very often. A computer with a red x over it appears in the bottom right hand computer when it does this. I can't reload, can fire, can't throw grenades, and can't move far. Any help?

To the OP: I'm not really quite sure, but it sounds like you have a basic graphics controller, not an actual graphics card. I think your hardware just sucks; get a new card. That's all I can offer, sorry =[

To teh personPeople: The reason you can't make a thread at the moment is because you just created this account today. You must wait 24 hours in order to finally be able to make a thread - it's like that to prevent spammage. Also, the red X indicates that there's extreme lag in the game, and it's having problems processing your requests. Like, you hold 'W' to run forwards, but the information doesn't get sent to the server for one reason or another, and it "resets" you back because the server doesn't really think you went anywhere.

Do you have dial-up or something? Is someone's mom downloading on their wireless laptop (inside joke :X)?

I have cable internet, and it's never done that before. Could it be because the internet providers server is overloaded?

I'd really have no clue. But perhaps you're doing something on your computer that's sucking up bandwidth (like a bit torrent client), or someone else in the house in the house is sucking up the bandwidth?

Has it always been doing this? Do other people have compys/lappys in the house? If so, are they downloading anything? And if your ISP was over-loaded, it would probably just not work at all.

Or it could be an intermittent problem. Many-a-time, resetting, or unplugging the power from the router/modem for 10 seconds, then plugging it back in fixes the problem.

That's all I got.

No other computers in the house hooked up to the internet. I'll try unplugging it later when parents get home to type in pass. (I don't get it, I can't know the pass to get on comp, but they'll leave it on all day when they're not here and defeat the purpose. Although, I just play games and get help for games lol)

Original Poster: Your screwed. I bought the game in Augest, and have not been able to even get to the main menu due to the same exact error your talking about. I just bought a nVidia 8600GT, which I hope will fix this (and other graphics related issues), but since laptops don't have upgradable graphics card slots, there's not much you can do except return the game.
