Is it me, or does the new Mark VI Armor look more feminine and skinnier than the older Mark V?

The V (Halo CE) was bulky and dare i say a manly body armor, which seperated halo from the countless sci-fi fps' out there. All other sci-fi fps' have these sleek, feminine, skinny body armor that makes them look less war-like and more stealth-like.........(which equals -blam!-ness)

the new Mark VI is not sleek, but is MUCH skinnier than the older "model" and makes the Chief look like a wimp. It's probably the case of bungie wanting to show off it's new bump-mapping, so the chief aparently adopted bulemia.

well..seeing as we aren't playing as grace/kally/linda i don't think the armor should be feminine...but hey..as long as i can kick covie ass it could be flourescent pink for all i care

Sigh... It does not look femine... it looks like armor... it looks bump mapped, and it looks like it pwns. By the way smaller armor = smaller target area, but it is almost as big as the original.

It's smaller and sleaker true. And it is more stealthy..true. Have you read the books? If you did you'd know that all of the master-chiefs early missions revolved around stealth tactics. If anything it is more fit for the spartans needs in combat. And how can you say it looks -blam!-? That armor is sweet and I bet you creamed your pants the first time you saw it so please don't bash what you did not create. Model me better armor then maybe you'll have the right to speak.

The Mark VI is ugly and unecessarily detailed for the sake of looking cool in Halo 2. Why are there indentations on the hands and feet? Because someone thinks they look cool. Why are there carvings on the Chief's visor? Same reason, but in actuality they serve no purpose. And on military hardware, things that serve no purpose usually both impede the operators and make them look stupid at the same time. Like a tank driving in a parade with horses, you with the damn animals would get out of the way so you can see the real power... The Mark V was bulky enough that it looked like it really could stop a plasma bolt, now the new armor doesn't look like it can even take a single Desert Eagle .50AE FMJ round to the chest. Also, where did the fusion reactor go now that his backpack is all but missing? Something tells me I don't want to know.

Summary: The Mark V was a practical piece of hardware; the Mark VI makes the Chief look like a Power Ranger at a dirtbike competition.

in that case it's morphin time.

If you didn't know when they were on halo it was with the original MJOLNIR armor. We didn't have the technology to make it any smaller. After fighting the convenant and capturing their technology we were able to make the armor smaller and more practical to the Spartan. It fits into the Halo Universe.

I think we should wait and test out the armors performance for ourselves kids before we start calling it wimpy and feminine. Atleast then we'd see how much harder it is to hit because of it's size and what the improvements are.

i know the armour looks different, but is it really any stronger? i mean, you could take three pistol shots to the head with the Mark V, right? so now can you take 4 pistol shots to the head with the Mark VI? if so than it's all right, but if not than it is just plain stupid.

Did any of you perchance go to e3 2004 and play the demo of Halo MP? If you did, then you would realize that you could jump much higher in this new armor. Think before you speak people, think before you speak. Just go through the deluge of articles on Halo 2 and you would have your answer. The fusion reactor is still on his back, just more concentrated on his shoulders, have a look.

If it lets me flip over a tank, it could be hot pink with fuzzy bunny emblems and flowers growing out of the ears and something written across the ass.

If thats the case, then I want to be Red, so I get to bang Pink Ranger. I'll take a Zord over a tank any day. NINJA POWER!!!

ur absolutley right, anybody who hasnt read the books has no idea what ur talkin bout. Now, i kinda got an idea of the evolution of the MJOLNIR armour so here i go.
1. The unshielded version (MARK 2) is a totally new design with no cues from the old mark 1. The mark 1 was inneffecient and either needed a generator or a wide beam power source (or somtin like that)
2. MARK 3 is skipped over, probably as a development prototype.
3. MARK 4 adds the imporveed upon covie shield technology, as well as ship grade ai support.
4. MARK5 technically isnt a model... unless if the MC later on in Halo 2 gets new armour. The spartans get updated armour as well as weapons while underground Castle Mountain (after reach falls and Halo is destroyed). In most of the updates mentioned, the armour was always said to appear slimmer, while the fusion pack (the thing that looks like a built in back pack) is always 50% smaller.

I dont think it makes the mc look any different. He looks... lets say more athletic for comparison purposes. In Halo, the MC sometimes looks like he has no neck or sometin. Point being, the whole point of the MJOLNIR armour is to be like a second superskin that is not noticble to the wearer (as well as protect u, u know what i mean).
