Well with a machine like yours, I would have to say that anything is good for you but if you want advice, I suggest this.

Set your resolution to 800x600. It looks and works great and doesnt slow the machine down.

Set your refresh rate to VSYNC. That works that best.

You should be able to select specular, shadows, and decals. Leave specular off, you can have shadows on if you want, not necessary, and decals can slow things down so its my advice you leave it off.

Particles on high, and your texture quality on medium.

Gamma you change, depending on how you want the screen to look dark or bright wise.

That should be good enough for you to go on, so have fun. And dont forget to get Halo CE. If you have questions, I prefer you personal email me as that is easier to find.

Heyyo,

You kiddin? that's an FX5300, that's like, Pixel Shader v1.1 I believe. You're gonna want settings like this:

Screen rez: 640x480
refresh rate: try 100MHz, see if your monitor supports that, if not, hit ESC.
Framerate: VSYNC
Specular: Off
Shadows: Off
Decals: Off (if you try on, it'll probably lag down the game badly)
Particles: High (if it lags bad, try low)
Textures: Medium (If it doesn't cut into your framerate a lot)

Sound:
Quality: Medium
Amount of sounds: Low (on high there's 15 types of sounds, but you can barely tell the difference anywho, they did a bad job of making them sound different with no toning...)

where did he list his sound card?
also, if it's laggy, you will need to change the framerate manualy. vsync is always good, but maby not as good as it could be with a 2.6 ghz.
on the otherhand, i may not be right, 'cause i have a crappy, 1.5 ghz(untill tomarow, that is....)
oh, and you can run in 800x600 if you want. my old GeForce FX5200 ran it fine in 800x600

Heyyo,

Yeah, it can run that rez, but with a good framerate hah, I'd like to see that. On my setup, I run at 640x480, and I still only score 39.84F/S on the timedemo... damn this game's weak for optimizations.... it should be running smooth, like new games like Half-Life 2, or Unreal tournament 2004... those games I can run on plenty high settings WITHOUT the massive framerate loss....
