Ok, all the things about secret characters and stuff are pretty exciting and intriguing, but.............

What about civilians?

Where are they?

are you going to see any in Halo 2?

could they be taken as hostages by covies?

If someone knows let me know........

Covenants taking civilians as hostages? I don't think those aliens are going to be willing on wasteing time to negosiate with humans ...they'll just cut them into peaces!!!!!!
It won't be a terorits attack from space man!!!

But I don't think that civilians can appear in the game.

Thats a good question. Well, from what we saw in the 2003 e3 trailer, there might be some on the stree as bystandards, or maybe some that are in the medical areas getting treated for wounds similar to the medical tents you first see when getting off the pelican at the beginning. Im guessing since a big part of the games gona be on earth, we'll see some type of civilians.

Alright man i got u. Just explain ur self next time.
By the way it is a good idea. Covenants useing human shields, making the game more interesting...but i guess it could slow the action in the middle of the battle field.

In one of my last masages I referred GRUNT when I was actually thinking about the BRUTES!

The only problem is, in areas where you would be doing combat to see civilians, wouldn't the civilians all be evacuated or killed? I don't think the Covenant would just attack a city and the civilians wouldn't be running frantically to leave before they got there.

Remember that HAL0 2 is going for the M(mature) raiting from ESRB not the AO(adults only). Just Marines and covinant soldiers going at it in a battle. Yeah violent but expected. Now through a bunch of unarmed civilians getting mercislesly plased and neddled and slashed to death by the covenant sure might be a little more "realistic" but will be too contrvircial and disturbing for some. No civillians might not make it but dont worry thoes little navy techs armed with a pistol and cowerding into a crouch more than shooting will still be there. So enjoy.

I have to say that there probably won't be civilians in combat, but I do sort of want to stick a plasma grenade on one of their heads in the midst of shouts. "What are you doing!?" "I'm on your side!" Then see them samper into a group of marines and BOOM!!! Grenade chain reactions galore!

I think that maybe you should see some in areas where the covies havent attacked yet. Once they attack the civilians could start running. If you all get what im saying.

A horrible thought is that there just might not be any civilians left. All of the colonies have fallen already, the Earth is being bombarded from orbit. The only people still alive might be the marines fighting against the Covenant.

Then there's the Halo Spinoff...

Lost, a thousand light years from earth the last of Earth's cruisers weaves an erratic course towards the far end of the galaxy. Alone, protected by but one Spartan, the only remnants of humanity search out a new home and discover a strange artifact... a ring world, in orbit around a gas giant. What is it? Who built it? Join Chris-053 as he and his marines explore this artifact and manage to discover something they'd never expected. A means of rescuing what they were sure was lost forever- Earth.

read the books. There was only one time in which the Covenant took hostages: that was Captain Keyes in the Truth and Reconsiliation. Othewise, they always slaughter every last human. NO PRISONERS, NO SURVIVERS, EVERY HUMAN DIES when captured by the Covenant.

don't tell me: i know I LIKE TO USE CAPS LOCK!

If you think about it that really is a horrible thought. But there might be some resistance group that have been underground since all of the colonies have fallen. Then you might meet them in the game and you have another group to help you. Then there may be some rivalry between the marines and the resistance because the resistance does something. Does that sound crazy or would it be cool?

What about civilians?

What about them?

Where are they?

Some have been evacuated...others are screwed and left on the ground.

are you going to see any in Halo 2?

Only Bungie knows the real answer. I'm hoping for a yes. Maybe even militia. That would be nice.

could they be taken as hostages by covies?

No. The Covenant kill any human that they find. There are exceptions, but those are rare. Even then once they are finished with them they kill them. All humans must die as far as the Covenant are concerned. There are no exceptions.

i wouldn't be suprised if bungie put in some scientists that you have to save from being slaugtered so they could make a bomb later or something like that civilians i would like to see a few still in their houses hideing but not on the battlefield just to see how it would make me feel saving a small child and it's parrents from certain death

If the covenant kill every human that they can find then why do the covies have at least one brig on the ship?

I wouldn't be surprised if their were civilians on Halo 2 (unless of course they were all evacuated before the covenant hit) It wouldn't make sense not seeing any civilians in the game, or atleast dead ones. If anything, you'll probably see them run away all the time. But it would be cool if the civilians some times wanted to be helpful and they'd try and fight back!

yeah i have written about this very thing before. first let me give the reason i think they need civilians in the game for:

1. they dont need to be everywhere. just where it is appropriate. i.e. in the city. i mean in the future the population will be huge and even if they evacuated the city there are still gonna be people to scared to leave and stay behind. Can we say FREEDOM FIGHTERS. civilians helping out the marines etc with civilian firearms etc.

2. in halo 1, you had that ring going over your head to constantly remind you of where you were and what you were doing. Civilians in halo 2 could do the same thing. remind you of what you are fighting FOR, and to remind you that you are home.

3. it would be stupid if they werent in there, because that is what war is all about. it is about how it affects the people.

Bungie stated that humans new of the Covenant attack on earth, and that they evacuated the lower levels and now remain baracaded in safer locations. That's just what they said about New Mombasa though. There have been no details reveiled about other locations with civilians.

The Covenant don't take prisoners they completely and totally destroy anything that remotely looks like a human. And what looks more human a Spartan or a Civilian?
