Heyyo,
I have a AMD AthlonXP 3000+ (runs just as efficient as a 3.0GHz compared to a P4, but its actual clock speed is something like 2.1GHZ) and that thing overheats a lot. Before on the default fan it ran at 58ºC which's pretty hot, and at 65ºC it shuts my computer off. I now have a Termaltake Volcano12 and it runs at 44ºC, so that's very healthy for my CPU. Here's an easy test: when in halo, put your hand behind your computer and feel the temperature of the air from your power supply fan and anyother fans, if you feel some heat, that's usually not a good sign. Sure, it heats up the room, which's cool, but in this case? hot can burn up your computer parts.. on my old AMD AthlonXP 1900+, that thing also ran pretty high, I think like 56ºC on the default fan.....
Hmm, that videocard should be fine since I have the same thing... what drivers you using with it? I find the catalyst v4.5 drivers to run the smoothest... try those...
